- We are silaging AGAIN! This time we are cutting a herbal ley that has been grazed earlier in the year with cows and then closed up as part of our GS4 option in our mid tier stewardship.
There is a massive amount of grass considering that this field has had NO fertiliser what so ever.
I also tease some MASSIVE news that you may well find out about next week if you are lucky!
I hope you enjoy it.

Hey guys, Just been made aware that there is a short clip missing at the start of the video! I don’t know what’s happened but it does resolve itself after a few seconds. Cheers 👍 0:06 😊

Thanks Keith, been trying to make the music work better for a while now so glad it’s coming across well. 👍
Hi James Nice one Have a good weekend Thanks again
Thank you Darran! 👍
Awesome bud cheers 👍🏻
Thanks mate 😊
Great vidio
Thank you 😊
Good video James your farm is so nice and flat very suitable for round baling would you ever consider building a new silage pit or do you prefer bales
Bales work great at the moment. I think once cow number edge over 250 we may need a re think as we will be carting bales all year 😂 but it’s a tough one as pit silage involves a lot more kit for feeding in the winter and it’s pretty much limited to the yard. Where are bales are much more versatile but with a lot of cows can be a bit much. 🤷♂️
we are really interested in herbal leys , I have been told that you have to be careful when mowing a legume not to cut off the growth nodule which is above the soil , do you know anything about this ?
We have never had any issue with that but I like to leave a healthy residual behind the mower and not now it too hard. That makes all the difference in my opinion. 👍
Hi do chop the bales which you feed out with the r5 handler thanks
Yes wherever possible. We run half the knives in the baler on silage and it leaves a nice muzzle length chop for the cows! 🐮
Hi James, would ye ever buy a fusion
It would certainly save alot of time and money
We keep considering it yes. It would make the job a lot easier, especially with there only being two of it but as cow number increase and our system develops we may think about doing things differently 👍
