THIS HAS TAKEN TOO LONG! | Cattle Muck Out And Wholecrop Silage Bales In!
In this one I'm flying solo once more! Dad is away on a well earned holiday and I decide to take matters into my own hands and muck a shed out in order to get some kit put inside. After that, I head down to the whole crop and start carting the bales...but that doesn't go smoothly!
I hope you enjoy it.

What make is your adapter plate on the loader euro to pin and cone ? Do you like it ?
Hey Andrew, I think itâs a Cherry đ. Itâs good and strong but the cones could do with being a little shorter or more rounded as itâs a nightmare to get certain implements off it at times.
Out-wintering is THE GAME Happy to show and discuss techniques after years of learning
James, that would be amazing! I have a couple of ideas in my head about how to go about it on our farm but the more first hand information I can get the better!
Put plenty of rat bait in and around that whole crop because if rats find it youâll have a pile of shite
Donât worry! She was fully loaded! đ
Loving the funky new drone music! đ
Thanks Nick. I keep trying to mix it up as much as possible đ
I use to go to Plumpton college
waiting for the go from DEFRA to get going on our first Herbal lay , can't wait to get started , just hope it works ok , I am so Impressed with yours , I don't think your quit up to Tom Pemberton's standard for crashing drones yet James đ€Ł
You wonât be disappointed James. The ones we planted this spring are amazing. A little weedy in places but that will go once we mow them out in a month or so. I should do an update again. đ to can definitely keep his crown for being the drone crash king. đ€Ž heâs got no excuses now heâs got gps đ
why compost instead of using a manure spreader?
Honestly, I find we get a better spread with composted muck and we also donât want to be spreading too much onto the grazing platform during the grazing season. Also, we use contractors for muck spreading so havenât got a spreader of our own.
@@baldysfarm Makes sense. I was raised in dairy country in western New York. No one really had to worry about grazing, just corn and hay...
What was the demo thing?
Itâs yet to come. They had to send someone out to put it together on Wednesday and Iâve not had chance to use it yet as Iâve been on my own all week. Hopefully next week but will be worth the wait đ
hi love the videos but i would like to know why you tease us about a demo but donÂŽt show us or tell us about it. thanks for the great vids
Honestly, I have had to get someone out to put it together. They didnât come until Wednesday and Iâve not actually been able to use it. Hopefully Iâll get it out next week đ€
Its because you know in some way it has crap on it. Specially gates. The cows useing them as rubs then shitting all over them.
Yeh, youâre probably right đ I feel like itâs become a habit now though đ
Great video â€
Thanks Sara đ
Hi James Nice one Thanks again
Cheers Darran! đ
Gday how much urea do you dissolve per 100 litre? Whatâs the rate work out per ha
We put in 200-300kg urea 46% N to about 850L water and spread that over about 8Ha. But wouldnât put more unless I was spreading it over larger area, especially if there is clover in the grass as it will scorch it out.
Hey James! Nice one. How come ya didnât leave cutting out to dry for a day?
To be honest, the grass in the crop was super dry and the wheat was on the turn so I didnât want to loose any more moisture. đ
Have you kept any of Lewis sons entire and would you ever use his sons for breeding
We havenât no! đ€ŠđŒââïž Iâm not sure if I would have used one anyway. Luis was the 3rd easiest calving bull ever bred by Charolais society, so Iâm not sure whether they would be able to live up to his standards.
@@baldysfarm oh ok
Great video again James, I think the amount of silage you do now a Fusion is the way forward for the farm â€
Thanks Stephen! Yeh, we have been discussing it our end, they are just some serious dollar đ” đł
Good luck withe the Whole crop wheat or shredded wheat for Cooooos. Interesting to know it's analysis eventually đ€ đđđ
Thatâs Willy, Iâll be sure to share it when we get everything done. đ
Magnets on a slider on the underside of the bed of the wrapper, unscrew and move slightly
Checked the magnets and they are all fine. However we swapped it back into the 6125 and it worked fine so it must be a tractor issue đ€ŠđŒââïž
That bale wrapper want's backing off a cliff your always having problems with it , bet its a sensor , they love a sensor on all kit these days and then they put them in the worst place possible to change , That should make some good feed , see others are asking about the conditioner on the mower surly you just slacken it off
Tell me about it James. Itâs been incredible for years and then for whatever reason, this years itâs been a nightmare! However I reckon this time it could be the tractor. Swapped it back onto the 6125 and it worked perfectly đ€ŠđŒââïž
I would say something to do with the sensor under the bed of the wrapper
Checked the sensors and that was all good, but swapped it back onto the 6125 and it worked fine! So must be an oil flow issue on the 6410 đ€ŠđŒââïž
I have the same wrapper check the positioning sensor under the bed .There is a sensor and a magnet check the magnet hasn't come off and moved.
Checked the sensors and that was all good, but swapped it back onto the 6125 and it worked fine! So must be an oil flow issue on the 6410 đ€ŠđŒââïž
We used to do barley bull! The cake those boys could eat off the bottom line was upsetting!
Doesn't the conditioner knock out any grain thats there?
That's what I was thinking , plus with the grain whole the cattle won't get the benefit of the grains like they would if it had gone tho a forage harvester
Harvesting âbefore before the grains have become fully ripened.
mow it when about milky not cheese
Yes it will but surly you just slacken it off so it does not pinch the grass /wheat
Slackened the conditioner off but with it not being super ripe it hasnât really been an issue. But I get your point.
The joy stick is by far the best way to wrap, your always in control and you can wrap much faster
I didnât even know until now you could get a joystick. That would be a dream!!
Would like to know where in the USA you find out more info on them very interested in 1
It's probably a sensor that counts rotations
Checked the sensors and that was all good, but swapped it back onto the 6125 and it worked fine! So must be an oil flow issue on the 6410 đ€ŠđŒââïž
@@baldysfarm hmm interesting, compare flow on those tractors
I'd say a sensor problem
Checked the sensors and that was all good, but swapped it back onto the 6125 and it worked fine! So must be an oil flow issue on the 6410 đ€ŠđŒââïž
JD. 6400 proper tractor đ đ
They donât make em like they used too!
Hi james there will be a magnet and sensor for counting the revs and bed position. check the magnet and sensor position. May have moved or been knocked.
Checked the sensors and that was all good, but swapped it back onto the 6125 and it worked fine! So must be an oil flow issue on the 6410 đ€ŠđŒââïž
Don't forget to put the spares in a safe place... You know, that very safe place where they will never be found... đ
Donât even joke! The amount of times Iâve done that is uncountable! đ
Hi James Hopefully the wrapper is now working Have a good weekend Thanks again
Got it going again Darran, turned out to be a tractor issue. Not 100% sure what yet though. đ€ŠđŒââïž
Great video â€
450kg is far too light for most breeds of suckler cow. I would agree upwards of 550kg is more like it, plenty of charalois and South Devon's more like 700 plus. your cattle do look well.
Balls. Most English comment ever!đ
Hi Baldy, Your aim is to use herbal leys as a stepping stone to beneficial LEGUME LEYS, Sow only plantain 0.25kg and yarrow 0.10 kg / acre . 0.5kg red clover, 0.15 alsike , White Clover [ 0.15 small wc, 0.5 medium wc, 0.35 large wc /acre. Add 3 kg /ac HYBRID ryegrass for early Spring growth. Legumes a benefit , less Nitrogen required , take the monies as it will only be available for 3 years. A Grassland an Forage Crop Agronomist. Good Luck.
Cracking looking cows James. Regarding cattle dogs, I have a kelpie x collie and he works both cattle and sheep very well. His only vices are when he's not working, he wants to play half the time and can be very demanding and noisy. Very good temperament with children too
Great Video James...... I am curious...how many Cows in total do you have and how many Calves do you have?
hi,impressed with your drinking pump , can the calves operate it ? Is it mounted on a concrete slab or something else ? We have a solar pump but it just cant keep up even with a 1000 litre tank in hot weather with 25 cows and calves ..
Great stuff. Love your Dad's modsđ
Really enjoy your videos Baldy đ That electric fence handling system is the business.... work smarter not harder!
Ahhh the old armstrong stacker. Good job learn to tie in the corners of the stack and hurry up the next trailer load is on its way!!! I remember it well
Great video James. What a set up your dad has made for fencing. Quality to see it in action. The cows look really well. Wow! What a view from the hill at Thornton. Keep up the great work buddy
Your father is a genius. I've got health problems that make me tire quickly. And even I could move the cows with that setup.
What breed are the blue ones ? And what makes a stabiliser cow ?
Good cattle dog..... Greyhound/American Pitt/Saluki.... Just saying :)
Cattle looking good đ
Great video ,loved seeing all the cows â€
A dog is very much part of the family đą
Its tough James. I've had a tough tough week too. I buried my 44 year old daughter on Monday. 5 years battling cancer. Left a Husband and three children. RIP đ.
