Nice to see a longer video from you, I like both styles.
Thank you! Got some more short and long videos coming soon.
If you click on keyboard, there's a sub-selection that appears under it. You have to select from that second menu to turn on the keyboard passthrough.
I feel like that intro shows that your channel is growing
Great work
I snow days, I've worked entire work days using the Quest 3. I was able to remote user's computers, take calls, document tickets, send messages to team members in teams, sending emails, etcc. It was a very pleasant experience.
Your channel is growing so of course you're going to make longer vids and all (Well deserved!). But I loved the short, no intro videos.
I hear you, and I've answered with this morning's upload.
Fantastic comparison! Thanks for the attention to detail in bringing us into the headset with you! You mentioned that when you get a text on the vision pro, it just "appears". Would you consider making a quick video showing how notifications are handled on AVP? Thanks again for the great content!
Sure, and in some of my videos you can see little notifications pop up, for example at this timestamp: czcams.com/video/amgun49wsds/video.html you will see a text notification pop up. If I look at it and tap then it will open up a preview just like control center on iPhone and I can reply from there or open messages from there as well.
Super interesting, thank you for sharing. I've spent the last couple of years working on my Mac using Immersed in Quest 2, and it's worked well. The biggest shame of it is, all of those niggles you showed have really been there since I started using it. The only major changes have been to add monetisation, which is kinda sad for what has been a real workhorse for me. So definitely looking forward to the VP here in the UK. I'm an app dev so it should be perfect for what I need. I'm also looking forward to the number of screens going up, as well as overall qol updates such as the curved views, better window layout management etc. But they will come in time I'm sure. It's gonna be a fun journey for sure.
Niggles? Literally NEVER heard that term before... is that a verb? A noun?
@@kdude1000 Hehe maybe a Britishism? Right up there with crumpets. And shenanigans!! 🤣
is the quality of the display ok? is the text readable? do you get headache after awhile?
There are some questions apps with better resolution and features you can also mix and match some questions apps with the Home Screen
There is a new Vision pro app to enable vision pro having more than one virtual display, but it is still in testing.
Yes hoping to check this out soon.
I saw the guy testing it with Davinci Resolve using multiple widows. Exciting, and I have feeling this will be native from Apple sometime soon.
9:11 you can read text in immersed from the iMessage app on your Mac.. also I can use two hands pinch and pull to resize windows and move them.
Edit - you can bring your iPhone into Immersed.
Immersed on quest, while looking powerful and a great app just seems like such a hassle to use. As a designer I have to question how unintuitive everything looks. The „Laserpointers“ also is quite annoying
100% agree. If I offered that app as a solution to my clients they wouldn’t be impressed. Far too clunky.
The UI detracts from what could be a pretty useful app.
Agreed. A lot of the janky UI has come from need to fight against the jankiness of the hardware, so pretty much all of the UI is currently being revamped.
In Immersed, did you mess around with the "Retina Display Quality" setting, on the Mac side (under "Advanced")? Obviously there's a big PPD difference (25 vs 44), so the Quest 3 will never be quite as sharp, but that setting definitely helps!
Not for this video, but I had tried to play around with that in the past, noticed a lot of extra lag and just general issues. It could have been my own network issues though so won't ding Immersed for that. I think the point again is that VP is just a smoother experience. There aren't as many settings or features, but the features that are there just work out of the box with no fiddling around.
You should try making a video in which you see how far away buttons (like the connect one for the mac) work. Perhaps even when not looking at the button, but moving your hand/finger in a way that would, when looking at it, make it work. btw amazing video! Greetings from Italy!
I kinda did that at the end of my Short here: czcams.com/users/shortssmNZrBS3H4M or tested to see how far away the mac would stay connected here: czcams.com/video/ijBABDvlFV8/video.html
@@himelstech oh cool didn’t really notice it!
Which vid is the Fury Road clip from?
How long can you work using either without discomfort?
1.5-2 hours typically.
My big issue with Immersed is latency. It's never quite felt smooth enough to use for extended periods of time. My wifi setup isn't the best though, and I think mesh routers mess with things sometimes.
i think it has a usb-c mode, no ?
Why you don't use USB c?
It's not just you. The UI looks like it was made 20 years ago.
I saw someone with multiple screens on the Vision Pro the other day. The app hasn't been published yet on the store. It's simply a software solution to the limitation.
The screens are so much nicer on the VP, which is to be expected due to the $$$ involved. And the meta UI is just so bad in comparison.
I'm excited to try the multiple screens on VP soon.
Quest is for Android and Windows users, they are used to having to download an extra app for a functionality
You left several pointers out though.
With immersed you weren't making use of the keyboard portal correctly.
There is an other feature in immersed that disables your hands so that you don't interact with the objects in immersed while with vison pro I saw other ppl saying that they would randomly trigger a click.
An other feature which helps getting the screens neat, there is the snap to grid feature in immersed where you can snap the screens in a grid formation and it works like grouping while in vision pro each window can't be currently be grouped in a grid. So if you change layout you have to set the windows all one by one while if they were grouped you just need to manage one group of windows.
Regarding notifications, you can sync your phone to your headset and you get notifications through the meta OS or else if you have apps like fb messenger or whatsapp, you can login within the application in the headset and you will get notifications.
In-terms of resolution, indeed quest 3 has a lower pixel density but immersed will be launching their own headset just for immersed app and that will be on the same level of pixels as the apple vision pro, apart from being lighter and smaller.
All good points, was trying to keep the video shorter and show a more basic comparison for those who don't know the ins and outs of each platform.
@@himelstech Fair point. Good video, just watched the Walking / Biking with vision pro.
I have been trying to enyoy hand tracking on my quest 3 but it's very selective on when it works, for example the x in the corner to close a window, I either can't get the tracking to hit it, or if I do it won't close even if I'm definatley on it and hit it multiple times. It's maddening, there should be a large back button or back gesture to mitigate this. Even pointing your fingers up and pinch for the menu.... why does it take 5 tries why lol 😂
what happens if someone else waves infront of the screen
Other people will not occlude the screen in most circumstances.
love the intro
Don’t make an intro, your videos are already great, don’t fuss over the editing, keep doing what you were doing before, you already have the most interesting videos on Apple Vision Pro on all of CZcams.
So kind, noted!
what do you think about app SplitScreen - Multi Display?
That’s also a solution for Vision Pro that I’m looking forward to. But. It’s still in early beta so it will take a while to be available in App Store I guess.
Hoping to check it out soon.
Quest 3 is such a hustle to use.
Hassle*
Use sidequest or questoptimizer to upsapling the Immerse to more resolution, then open the app, and also you can always be closer to any window if you see any pixelation.
I get Iphone notifications on my Mac in immersed lol
The thing thay sticks out the most is the price. They both have pros and cons, one is open and allows for more but finnicky, one is clean but restricted and closed, one is heavier, one has a lower resolution. But one costs 3.5 grand.
I can understand why people say the AVP is better for this kind of workflow, especially if they're already trapped in the Apple garden, but the fact that the Quest competes at all, in an area the AVP is designed for and the Quest isn't, for a seventh of the cost, is honestly wild.
Again, this is where Meta has failed when compared to Apple for me: It's just too clunky and unreliable for most users to do this kind of thing in the headset because of the way the interactions and stuff work. Meta really needs to step up and make something official like this that's at the highest quality and ease of use and intuitiveness possible. And it also needs to let me officially watch frikin' 3D movies too, with The Super Mario Bros. Movie being one of those.
Why not try Immersed on AVP? They’re doing their beta right now.
Ohh honestly didn’t realize! I’ll have to check that out.
Awesome. Where can we follow along?
oh no, he has an intro now.
i feel like that intro is unnecessary
Let him cook
I think it's absolutely necessary - because of the spinning cat.
It’s less than 10 seconds.
Atleast he's able to afford vision pro 🙂
too loud and youtubery
Great video. The only reason the Quest isn’t laughed off is its powerful backer and his influence with…Influencers. 1080 is better than 720 and so on. We’ve already had this argument with tv’s and monitors, the higher resolution, the better the device. 3k is not good enough. Couple the Quest poorer resolution with its emphasis on gaming and the Vision Pro with its sophisticated UI and OS and the Vision Pro will appeal to more users. Only PRICE that has stopped mass adoption of the Vision Pro. A $599 Vision Pro and we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Which company do you believe is desperately scrambling in the background to be the most like the other? Zuckerberg is working hard as we speak to improve that horrible OS, hand tracking and warped viewing perspective.
a $599 vision wouldn't have a 44 PPD display (not like apple would ever make a $599 model anyway). the vision pro is great hardware, the quest 3 is great hardware for its price, i don't think either should be laughed at
I don’t understand why I need multiple monitors. I have Final Cut Pro running on my Mac and in my Vision Pro I need other things, so I just open those other things like my mail, my browser, my messages, FaceTime, my Photos app, etc. in its own space. it feels odd that people can’t see this and think they need multiple monitors. Secondly, don’t get it twisted, Facebook isn’t open either. If I wanted to play my Nintendo switch or my PlayStation five or my Xbox one, I can’t just connect a USB-C to HDMI cable. That would be the best possible solution. And before people say, the quest doesn’t have the hardware for it, well, I can use the oculus link to do it to a computer.
The thing that gets me, as I’ve been using the quest since the first one. And the things I’ve been asking for Meta has not been providing. Now that the Apple Vision Pro is out, Meta is scrambling to get all these work features built into the system . But for me, a mobile business, professional, I love spatial computing (AR, VR, MR), but as of right now, the quest three only gives me a great gaming experience. Asgard’s wrath is probably the best mobile game I’ve ever played. Outside of that it’s all smoking mirrors. So much so that we’re not even gonna talk about the passthrough gaslighting. I don’t understand why no one is talking about how horrible to pass through. It is on the quest three. Wood, you all are seeing is with the quest. Cameras are presenting to you from a recording. But when you’re looking through the quest three it’s a washed out color and warped experience.
To put things in a perspective in order to get some of the vision, pros functionality, you need to install immersed. That’s just an app, that’s coming to the Vision Pro. I’ve used this app since the beginning and it is very good now. However, every time I talk to the company and tell them about the latency and the issues they say it’s my router , I don’t have these issues with the vision working for 2+ hours at a time.
Realistically speaking, I think the quest is 100% worth the money to replace your Xbox. And it’s also very good at presenting spatial computing to the masses. But it cannot touch the Apple Vision Pro by any metric. And even gaming on the Vision Pro is awesome. We’re talking micro oleds that rival your iPhones screen. And the thing is, if you have an iPhone, the Apple Vision Pro is a no-brainer. You never have to take off the headset or lift it to do anything that you would normally do on your iPhone.
For all of you that have a quest, any model it doesn’t even matter. Go to the TV app. Do a search for the Miles Morales video where he’s jumping off the side of the building. It doesn’t have to be that video. Choose any video. Try and send that to someone. That experience sucks. There’s a whole lot of amazing artists that have put great content out, yet you can’t share it with anyone unless you go with sharing it direct directly to Facebook. Doesn’t that sound closed? Whereas on my vision, it doesn’t matter what application I’m using. I could just click the share button and send it as a text or any other social media I choose.
I think the answer to all these comparisons is if you only have $500, you can shoehorn, sideload, workaround to try and get a somewhat OK experience. But there is no comparison between the two products because Apple has sold an experience That I am very happy with. I mean, have you even looked at the comparison between the quality of text rendering on both, let alone how videos look. Go to CZcams and watch an immersive video on a quest, then do a demo and watch an immersive video on the Apple Vision Pro. It’s like comparing a television from 1995 to 4K HDR television today. This is why I cannot be gaslit. But I understand there are certain people in America that believe 100 g heavier is way too heavy. or you need controllers in order to use virtual reality. For those people, that’s great for them. But this reminds me of, you can’t do real work on the phone without a keyboard… it’s interesting history repeats itself.
One last thing I can take my apple Vision Pro out, turn it on, and automatically connects to my phones hotspot. And I’m working. With my quest, pro or quest three, I have to turn it on, and then wait for the controllers to sync up, and that’s if the batteries aren’t dead because there’s no power on or off button on the controllers. Which means you’re supposed to take the batteries out so now I have to put the batteries in, and then I have to go tell the headset to connect to my hotspot… see the experiences just very different. I choose the simpler one with the Vision Pro.
All great points and I appreciate your detailed response here. With all that said, I feel I must tell you the phrase is "smoke and mirrors" not "smoking mirrors".
@@himelstech lol. You’re right… this was all dictated using Siri… in the VisionPro🥽
Ah man I totally forgot you could download the Xbox and ps5 remote play apps on quest. What was all that you wrote again? Btws you can actually use a USB to hdmi capture card on quest too...........🤡
Apple vision pro 30 hz hand tracking is superior 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Bro no one really wants a headset just to do productivity they want it to play VR and Mixed Reality games or VR games and I use virtual desktop and i my Macbook Pro all of the time on my Quest 3 when I am Mixing a track in Logic Pro X and my Macbook s not supported by he headset as its a Intel based mac and can also use it with my PC and GTA San Andreas in VR will sell alot of Quest 3 headsets
U can go oculus room and u have 3 monitors dont need to go App for pay , and choice rnnvierment 😉
Nah, you stare at low res screen over a long period of time, you’ll get eye strain
AVP all the way
Your right AVP does get eye strain all the way 😅
The intro is not great.
Gives it a bit of an amateurish vibe.
Intro + 10min videos my man has full on gone the tech tuber route.
It's good but don't loose the natural feel of the channel my friend
Ha I appreciate that just trying some new things :)
Same thoughts here lol I follow his channel just bc of the quick videos. Natural feel
Being Money hungry when they start out is the worst thing they can do to their channel
