    I put that on my 20 6.7 except mine is the aluminum color. Had mine on for about 35000 miles doing hotshot trucking with it. It most definitely makes a difference in the tranny Temps. It stays much cooler. Never have got the Trans Temps up above 225 even with 30k lbs pulling up the steep grades in the west. I love it!

    I,did the pan and filter upgrade on my 2005 F350 DRW With The pan and much improved FT180 Filter from the switch to The 6.4l and you can also eliminate The bypass filter, the small roll of toilet paper, you have to get that pan as it's a little deeper to allow for the new full flow filter. No more rock catcher as the 6.0 Trans filter was referred to.

    On my car I just change mine every 30k or about every 3ish years with the trans pan gasket and trans filter. Go back together with Mercon V fluid and Motorcraft filter. And I use the left over fluid to flush the power steering since its the same fluid on my old Crown Vic. I don't trust anyone else to do my transmission fluid service. Most cause I mess up my trans case threads for the pan bolts. 2 bolts are sort of stripped and I put in some standard bolts that at least thread into the case, those 2 bolts must go back into the same hole. Also on my old car it has a torque converter drain bolt so I can drain about another 8 quarts.

I mean it's still the same surface area. Doesn't really compute with me. You're still running through a cooler in the front. Seems to me that the same pan, just a little bit larger to clear the inner fins would work the same?

    Lastly, where is the factory transmission temp sending unit. The PPE pan has a blank (or pre-threaded?) plug provision for a supplemental trans temp gauge. I assume that's overkill and the factory trans temp should still provide accurate readings? Nice job.

    Love your channel but rarely see you use a torque wrench. I knew some mechs that could almost torque to the exact torque but having countless ford’s, they do have bolts that’ll break easily.

    When Putting on a Deeeper Trans Pan Do You Need To Lower The Filter Deeper Into Pan, Extend Filter At All

  • @mojo4376
    @mojo4376 Před 11 měsíci +2

    So you set the final level with the trans temp at 158f. The sticker says the temp should be higher at 180-215f for final level setting. What am I missing?

    Question for you before I install mine. Are you worried about not being able to put the magnet disc in the PPE pan from the stock pan?

  • @garrettschnieder3472
    @garrettschnieder3472 Před rokem +1

    Does this pan fit the 10R140 on the 7.3 too? PPE’s website specifically states 6.7, but I don’t know why.

  • @MrRoberoni117
    @MrRoberoni117 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Should we avoid the 10R140? I’m in need of a new truck but I wanted a 3/4 ton WITH solid axles vs IFS. That limits me to dodge and ford.

    When you do a trans service do you rotate the converter to drain fluid out of it ?

    Considering this pan for 2022 F-350 dually with 6.7 as way to lower trans fluid temp. Seems to peak at 212F with no load at 75mph on flat highway with 60F ambient outside. Is 212F temp too high? Will pan lower that temp to below 200F? Maybe I am over-thinking. Another great vid, Arod. Thanks much.

    I know your diesel guy but whats up with the 10s in the f150s. I've had to have a 20 in the shop 3 times and now on #4 and their finally putting a new transmission in it. Curious to hear your thoughts.

      The f150s are completely different. Although they have 10 gears...they share like 4 parts

      @@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I didn't expect the be any similarities other than 10 gears but this one in the f150 I'm having the problems with it killed the engine at highway speed on a 4lane. Tripped all kinds of lights. I miss my 6.7 didn't have any problems other than the def heater.

    Good video, only criticism i have is when you were putting the trans filter bolts in you impacted them pretty hard. Torque spec is only 94 in lb and 106 in lb (for stud bolts). You can damage that trans if you go too hard because aluminum is soft but otherwise good vid

      Knowledge is key...i know my tools brother.....not saying im right.....you wanna put heads on....yes you torque em. Fuel injector hold downs yes you torque em. This kinda stuff, all feel baby no need to bust out the torque wrench. Thanks for watchin.
