If anyone is wondering, the restaurant kept working good and food was delicious. Sadly, the restaurant was sold and closed around 3 years after the episode was filmed, as brothers wanted to start farming ventures and food tours. They successfuly opened family farm and are still in the business.
Good for them!

Thank you Mr bean from Grove St.
It’s not a delusional owner or frustrating incompetence of the staff, it was an unfortunate personal struggle that was ruining the business. I was so heartbroken for Frank, seeing him so broken was hard to see. An emotional but Really great episode.

This episode is deeply emotional. No bad guys here just hurt people...
Those painkillers are dangerous
Brother got addicted to drugs and stole and lied from the other brother. He's clearly the bad guy
@@crazychase98 just blame the drug, that caused the downfall of both of them
@@ramennoodle9918 He made a choice to keep taking them and use them more then what the doctor recomended. Plus steeling and lieing drug didn't make him do that his choices did
@@crazychase98 he owned up to it and you cant change the past. Though its hard to trust someone who fucked you over multiple times. Its hard for both brothers.
No filthy kitchen, no terrible service or egotistical chef, just genuine people trying to make things work hurt by a horrible tragedy. Everyone here deserved success. Do we know if it's still open?
it’s not unfortunately. but the brothers are in another successful business.
They sold the restaurant 3 years after the episode was filmed
@Julie Weaver if addiction was just a choice, why can't most people just stop by choice?
Because it's not a choice. Especially opioids are hard to get off. That's why the U.S. is struggling with an opioid crisis since the end of the 90s. Pharmaceutical companies know this. Its highly addictive substances.
Also, let's not forget the genetic and environmental causes. Addiction is not a choice. It's a chronic brain disease. Otherwise, everyone that touches alcohol or other drugs would become an addict because they chose to drink/take the drugs(medicine included). Drinking or taking drugs doesn't make you an addict.
All in all, addiction is not a choice, it's a compulsion. It's the brain telling you to take whatever substance it needs.
they all died horrifically during the pandemic
That comment is so full of semantics. Addiction can be a tragedy because a tragedy is defined as an event causing great suffering. Getting clean is a choice and even more than that it's a journey, but no one sets out taking heroin to get addicted to it, just like no one chooses to be trans.
Besides, addiction especially with IVing can cause irreversible damage and calcification/scarring of your blood vessels, that's why people switch to using their legs, then chest, and if absolutely necessary their hands.
There are lifestyle diseases where your symptoms can be either completely stopped or the progression of which can be stopped by changing and maintaining a specific lifestyle and taking your medication, type 1 diabetes is one of these.
Also if you think that psychiatrists trusting kids that say they're trans are the ones destroying lives, guess what buddy, you're the one destroying lives. I highly doubt you've got any broad experience in mental health, addiction, or damn near anything. You have a weird antagonistic tunnel vision and I recommend you stop judging others and go outside some more to talk to different kinds of people and broaden your horizons, cause it's really quite sad.
Hope you never end up being at the other end of the stick when it comes to narrow-minded clueless judgement. Or maybe I hope you do, and manage to connect how it feels to your own opinions.
I've been in the service industry 28yrs as a server and manager, Andrew is definitely one of the most likeable dedicated server I have seen on these episodes. I believe he will be an asset to any workplace

I think seeing Gordon talk about his own brother and his experience touched Frank so deeply and this whole episode just really showed the difference he makes to people, their businesses and families. I had a lump in my throat then promptly cried when he called Frank 'Chef' at the end.

He deserves major props. Unless you have been there, you will never know true hell.
I am surprised he never made amends to his family over that two years.
I like that waiter. It's refreshing to see a server that cares about the quality of the food. Hope he is doing well.
This episode actually make me so sad because im a chef too and i’m feeling helpless in the industry also. Just gonna comment here cuz the video is probably old and no one would read the comments anymore. I’m a chef for 6 years, it wasnt my passion but i had to follow it when i first moved to Canada as my original passion is soccer met disapproval from parents. I chose cooking and turned out I’m actually have some talent in it. Slowly i became obsessed with fine dinning food style and have a job at a great restaurant until now. But then i just feel so defeated everytime i show up for shifts, and if i do i wouldn’t have complete uniform, my attitude is not great, i couldn’t focus, i still send great food out but i just didn’t feel like it because i realized that the industry doesn’t care about cooks, they work 60+ hours a week and spent 3/4 of monthly income just to pay the bills. Along with so many other reasons that affected my life and i slowly burnt out, i couldn’t get out because i have never done anything else but cooking and then i slowly lose my passion, till a point where i think to myself everyday that i couldn’t do anything right and im a failure, i tried to killed myself twice when im alone and i just wished i had someone to tell me like the wife tell frank that its ok to be broken. Ive been living carelessly and most likely in denial in the last few months and this episode actually got to me. I know my problem is nothing compare to the guy in this video but i still understand his anger and depression. I hope he is doing ok now, and i hope all the cooks in the world will be more happy.
Stay strong. 🙏❤️🙏❤️ You did a brave thing leaving your passion of soccer to find approval from your parents. Thank you for sharing your truth and keep going. 👏🙌💪
that's really heartbreaking. I wish you all the best! just keep finding inspirations and reasons to keep the passion alive!
The industry does destroy cooks, and only a select few get recognition. Owners use cooks and throw them away...owners try to use people as much as they can because the margins is small. The entire industry is kind of broken because food costs are so high compared to cooked food, they make most their money on wine. Look into related fields: you can do better catering, or baking, or anything you can make your own. Cooks, especially in medium and small restaurants, can wear you out and you end up on your feet for 6 hours. Its also a heavy drug/alcohol field, with many addicts. Get enough skill to go into teaching, thats a better option.
I wish nothing but the best, chef, I really do. Much love and you deserve something wonderful for that passion you have!
I am a chef for 11 years now. I am burned too. Feel lonely and defeated. I am working 250 h per month with no hope for future.
In absolutely no way connected to this, Gordon’s ability to eat food and be able to tell if it’s really fresh and also guess the right time is impressive. I really want to know as a aspiring culinary arts student how he learned this skill
Make an experiment by making a dish and freezing it for 2 weeks, then schedule a day where you make the same dish and eat half portion of the fresh and half portion of the defrosted, and you can try two ways: microwave or re-frying, re-cooking. You should be able to tell apart based on texture, and taste. Could be a good practice :) In some episodes I can distinguish it from the way it looks even, no need to taste. Defrosted food is often way more watery, meat can be really dry, pasta will be either really mushy or dry (depending on how it was reheated) or just lose the texture. I am no chef or cook, but we cook a lot at home and freeze some portions if we have too many portions, so we have something if we have a "lazy" evening. So it does differ, and it differs depending on the way you are reheating ot :) Even by freezing and defrosting pasta dough you do destroy it, I have done that and never did it again... :D
To determine if a food is frozen or fresh depending on its texture and taste, usually a frozen food taste bland and worst-case scenario its like cardboard or rubber. For foods that are stored a long time ago they have an awful smell even if it's cooked already.
If you really can’t tell the difference between something fresh out the pan and the same food made with week-old groceries, frozen and then defrosted and reheated then maybe you should learn basic cooking before calling it culinary arts…
Because he has a refined palette
@@daivabrazauskaiteeidukiene To add to that, I've seen Gordon noticing that food has been reheated in the microwave because the center was steaming while the side of the dish wasn't.
I feel sympathy with Anthony. As a former addict I can tell you that when you're craving it can become so intense that you'll rob, steal and beg without a thought. When you come round you realise the errors you've made but it's a vicious circle. However when you do become clean you have to be real in your regret, make amends and prove you've changed through action. It's a long road but regaining trust helps but being constantly reminded of your past hurts.
Firstly Daniel M, well done to you for breaking away from the addiction. Addiction is not a choice, you didn't order it or pick choose off a menu (excuse the pun hehe). Addiction happens for so many a reason. I have just lived through 7years of my son being an opiate painkiller addict which started when he broke his foot while still at uni doing his PhD and he was prescribed painkillers/codeine to help him keep practicing. By the time the foot was fully healed the addiction had started. (i, his mum suffer with M.E and am prescribed a cocktail of very strong pain meds........) he stole all my medication to keep his habit going, to the point i was bed ridden and suffering my own withdrawals and horrendous pain due to not having my meds) he would lie, steal, borrow, make up reasons and stories just to get pity from people!!!! I couldn't walk away from him though, he was my first born and I always feared the worst. 3 years ago he finally went into recovery and is finally clean (I am so proud of him for that) only now he chooses to blame me for it all and refuses to have anything to do with me. I lost so much, my friends, my family, nearly my home by defending him through those years yet it is I whom is to blame. For me though I am just glad he is finally clean and free. I hold no grudges and would love my family back totally together and I wasn't the addict! So I am really proud that you found the strength you needed to kick your addiction. x
@@steviegg2670 I'm sorry you went through that, I hope your doing better now 💕
@@That_Star_Kid thank you for your kind words. I live in hope that one day he will try make amends with his sister and myself. I get told I should have left him to deal with his addiction on his own, report his stealing, stopped protecting him but i just couldn't i was so scared he may die (he knew i am soft though). His own father totally ignored him while it was happening and now his father is like a god as far as my son is concerned! I don't ever judge people who are addicts/or have an addiction though because it can happen/start from the slightest thing to absolutely anybody from anywhere. Big hugs 💗 x
Im sorry what does "burned out" mean?
@@spanishlearning9600 It means being so physically exhausted you could collapse. Also mental burnout is when someone is close to a mental breakdown
Just seeing the light of life leaving Andrews eyes broke my heart. That boy is an absolute gem for this restaurant

Can't really blame Frank. The worst betrayal and heartbreak comes from the family and those you love most.
so true my friend.... sadly... so true
Addiction makes u do stupid things u cant really blame the addict only the one who sold to him and made him this way
And the guy clearly has turned his life around and got out of it so props on him
Yes you can. The addict at first made a conscious decision to take an addictive drug. Than was weak enough to fall into it. And then got others in trouble because of his own selfishness. Screw that, it's on him.

"All the tables are priority!" This was so important for him to say!❤️
Oh man, I'm sobbing so hard on this episode, I feel so sorry for both brothers. I had the darkest time in my life being substance addicted and it takes lots to admit it, get sober and rebuild trust. Frank, you've got this! :)
I’m sobbing right along with you. What an amazing show
Despite anthony’s addiction past, he wanted to show his brother how much he has changed.
It’s just sad.
I got way to emotional watching this episode.
I'm glad Gordon didn't go full aggro on them. He noticed quickly that the potential was there and that these guys are NOT an embarrassment to the industry.
This was a beautiful episode. Perhaps my favourite.
Got to be the most genuine episode of kitchen nightmares I've ever watched
That was nice when Gordon said goodnight Chef to Frank...that meant alot to him!! Got his passion back
As someone who’s only 23 and a recovering alcohol addict, it really is so important to have a support system by your side and as much as you could go to groups or go to therapy or see specialist, there’s nothing that means more than family I will say. For Gordon to have the struggles in his own family which if you haven’t done your research please; it really is such an impact not just on the single person but the family so when that person finally finally strives and has the passion to show change, it is important to help support and encourage them and help them through those times because unfortunately I hate to say it… we didn’t choose those lives. Those lives ended up, unfortunately, taking over us at our worst and most vulnerable weaknesses and times in life.
That woman loves Frank so damn much
I was honestly looking for more comments like these, this woman's love for her husband is just coming through the screen it's really amazing
This show never gets old, amazing work.
@TheGamingbeaver3......😂😂😂
After Chef Gordon compliments Frank on how he handled the pressure in the kitchen that evening, you can see a glimpse of hope in Frank's eyes, kudos to all the divide crew and Chef Gordon Ramsay congratulations sir.
One of the most beautiful moment for me was when Ramsay in the end said "goodnight chef" to Frank
It was like you might not think you deserve it but I do and a person going through mental issues it's like you'v got an endless pit behind you one step back and you're done for and compliments like that could really help and also I think this was one of the few episodes that Ramsey had a proper connection with cause of the similarities of what's happening here and what's happened in the past in his life.
I got tears in my eyes when Anthony started to read a letter to Frank.
Must be one of the best American episodes ive seen. No drama just a genuine strong American family and staff that have been through a tough time. Was wishing them on through this... really hope they done well after this
The best part from 27:13...and when Frank asked Gordon something that he cooked.
Frank: "No good?"
Gordon: "It's frocking delicious!"
"Why you're so defensive?"
Frank: " You frocking whipped my arse the whole day!" 🤣🤣🤣
“Ripped me a new asshole” is what he said but close enough.
Frank sounded so dejected it broke my heart.
I really like the attitude if the young kid. You can tell he wants the business to succeed
I’ve not seen Gordon add someone else’s dishes to the menu. Actually warming, and I bet it was a boost for Frank… Freaking brilliant
He’s done that many times when he asks people to make something for him. He’s put them on the menu as specials plenty of times. They also stay many times too.
@@Burlykim13I’ve seen him have all chefs make him something. But only TWO has he added their dish to it HIS menu. Thats just my observation, and with this particular family… especially for Frank which is my focus… that was a special & telling moment for Frank. It wasn’t about Franks skillset… it was far greater than.
The way Gordon related with Frank about how their brother's are in similar situations was brilliant 😊

Gordon's "that's fantastic " about 2 years clean, was so sweet. And that guy probably hasn't heard that from his family
I give him so much credit for being clean and having to endure that kind of attitude and environment...and STAYING clean. You can be angry but you have to communicate and express your feelings dude. Building up anger aint helpin nobody
I love how people are supposedly like "oh, this restaurant is being featured in Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare, I think I'll go eat dinner there tonight, what can possibly go wrong?😅"

Is it a coincidence that Frank said that in Davide’s heyday you had to book three weeks in advance to get a place?
A truly difficult part of recovery (8 yrs sober here) is the fact that some cannot forgive bad acts. This is legitimate and we have to own it.
That “goodnight chef” at the end is the sweetest thing Gordan said - GR calling you chef and saying bye one last time. So heartfelt
This was such an emotional episode, I cried when they were telling Frank what he meant to them and it broke my heart when Frank thought and said Gordon didn't like the chicken he cooked.
Wonderful. I hope Frank and his brother go from strength to strength and not forget to give each other lots of love. Gordon you rock, this is the best one I've seen so far.

Probably the most heartfelt episode I've watched. I may of shed a tear or two for all involved
I've watched so many of these shows, the pacing feels like food intervention. This one finally crosses the streams with the actual show, very cathartic expression of how the care for making food for people can cross roads with the human condition. Beautiful.
Gordon's heart is way bigger than his mouth.
God bless Marco for making Gordon the beast chef that he was meant to be. As a chef…when I work I always pretend Chef Ramsey is watching me and it helps me to aim for perfection for my customers:
I have never cried so hard at an episode of KN before. The broken spirit of Frank is just heartbreaking. I don't think I even want to. know if the restaurant made it. I just want to believe that whatever happened he found joy again.

After Filming, the restaurant mainly received 1-2 star reviews on Yelp, and shut down in early 2014, just 3 years after this episode
I feel like Frank needed to open up himself to forgive Anthony. And Anthony needs to support his brother and show him that Frank can trust him again.
In cooking once the passion is gone out of the food. Your restaurant will suffer. I'm happy to see Frank passionate about his cooking
