That poor girl was crying because she was so stressed and depressed by the situation, and everyone kept telling her to stop crying and shut up. She was showing warning signs of depression. So sad to see the lack of empathy.
Yeah. No disrespect but her sister can be such a b**** sometimes.

@@BeansNQuesoIt's one statement with no context. If that were the 20th complaint from a customer she had to take to the kitchen, only to get yelled at, THEN can you find some empathy for how she might be so fed up she'd cry?
The younger sister wasn’t crying over cinnamon or garlic, specifically; she was crying because she has to deliver horrible food and take all the customer complaints for her father and sister, but she’s powerless to do anything about it.
Yup, she’s the punching bag of the family :((

Nah, pretty sure it was cinnamon. Makes me cry too
@@elliottsoucy8275 seriously, who the hell puts cinnamon on a donut?

Always loved how Tariya is constantly being yelled at by her sister for crying but when her sister collapses in tears, Tariya is right beside her comforting her. No "now you know how it feels," no "serves you right". She just does the right thing and comforts her sibling. It's such a strangely tender moment.
It's even worse when later on in the episode she still tells her to shut up. What a vindictive woman! Support your fucking sister for Christ's sake! She's an adult just like you and deserves some damn respect!
She is a sweet soul, despite being stressed out she still shows empathy.
Exactly. she knows what it feels like to be there, and knows just how much more yelling, or getting her small bit of payback will just hurt more. theres no point in it, and im glad there are still people like that around.

I don't think I've ever wanted to hug another human and say it's okay as bad as I do for Tariya. She's such a gentle person in an environment fueled with anger and toxic pride.
"Anger and Toxic pride". You nailed it pal, because the fish always stinks at the head. That father was unbearable. I can't help but wonder if he really learnt his lesson ...??? Some of these restaurant owners run these restaurants right back into the ground after Ramsay is gone.

That poor girl she’s crying cause she’s stressed. Her sister is a true mean girl
I don't think that she's a "true" mean girl. I think that they both have developed unhealthy, yet opposite, ways of coping w the huge amount of stress and turmoil that is their lives
I believe that the above commenter is right. Definitely people process stress in different ways. These seem like 2 typical cases of young people being stressed out in their family environments.
Terrible father figure, drove one to be borderline aggressive and the other to be emotionally unstable

When the Cry baby cries... its not that bad. But when one of the stronger people in the family cries. that means shits hit the fan. lol
@@LIVE_Concerts_STL What about her seems stronger? She's just more hateful and rude. She still breaks into tears like her sister. She just doesn't want to give the emotional support that she accepts from her sister. I mean, does it really seem like someone is a crybaby for being stressed to the point of tears from being on a super popular TV show that you don't have much choice in being on while having your family fight and yell at each other (including you)? It would be humiliating, and it's on top of having to relay the criticism from Gordon to her asshole of a dad. Show some empathy
@bd8654 lets just say i dont show empathy.. now whats the next move 🤔
@@IdiotDoomSpiral69 public displays of tears and breakdowns absolutely implies a weaker, more instable psyche. It's not really something to be prideful of nor ashamed of. Feeling deeply is a plus but constantly crying displays instability. There _is_ a fine line. What Live_concerts means by "stronger" is that, yes, keeping ones emotions in check does mean they're tougher, and this world needs more tough people not emotionally unstable ones.
Instead of preaching he show empathy, I recommend seeing outside of your little box and showing you're capable of accepting differing opinions. 💕
“I love how the one sister is emotionally unstable toward everyone around her, but then the other is it’s bad”
Just because the instability manifests as crying vs anger doesn’t mean either are less valid. Instead of shitting on either of the daughters do it to the father who caused their lives to be so stressful and unstable. And the mother for not standing up to him
that younger sister is a monster. I found it interesting when she said that he father "doesn't know how to talk to people", meanwhile she screams at her sister for crying. hypocritical.
i love how tariya laughs at 36:47, it shows how genuine and excited she is to begin a new chapter in their restaurant. such a roller coaster ride of the family with a happy ending at last
She's got a pretty good smile and laugh at 34:30 too. It's so welcome after all of that crying 😊

@@sdfilmproductions4193 IIRC, he mentioned something about it to one of the contestants on Hell's kitchen, who was upset because Gordon called him something that the contestant's abusive Father used to call him. And Gordon's response was something along the lines of, "I'm sorry, if I'd known, I'd never have said it, and I won't ever call you that again. My Father died awhile back and believe me, there were a lot of things I wish I'd told him off about that I never did."
It always astounds me when someone gets picked on for crying, as if that isn't a valid form of stress relief. There's already enough yelling going on between the dad and the sister, and being the server, she's the front-line fielding complaints and any of the less-than-polite customers, but they consider her weak for crying instead of just adding her voice to the cacophony already going on between the two in the kitchen. Good gods, I'm really surprised she didn't just leave town and her family before all this came to a head on the show, the abuse here is just sickening.
I felt so sorry for Tariya. The kitchen sends out bad food, she has to listen to the customers' complaints and then prepare to listen to her overbearing father scream at her when she is just doing the job they have asked her to do. I'd cry at the drop of a hat, too.

Whenever I'm too tired to watch my normal shows, I come back to kitchen nightmares. It's a comfort show
I just checked the restaurant details and they look to be up and running in 2024. It seems like they took the advice and did well with it. 40 years and wish them many more!
they're doing great too, 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor and 3.9/5 on Yelp
Unlike 90% of the ones gordan fixed
My heart is breaking for the sister who was crying often named, Taria. She was treated HORRIBLY by her family, especially her sister and dad!!! Meanwhile when her sister finally broke down and cried, Taria actually stood by her sister's side despite how horribly her sister treated her.
Also, it's very sad that this family called for Gordon's help and yet they get insulted when Gordon called them out! By the way, the "father" here was a terrible fatherly figure, he raised one daughter to be as aggressive as he is and the other daughter, Taria clearly has an anxiety disorder. Taria is the only one who I feel bad for here
I feel bad for both daughters. Elise was raised to be aggressive like that. She was raised to deal with problems by yelling at them. Her sister cried, she yells at her. A customer said a dish had too much garlic, her response was to yell "then get the fuck out of a Greek restaurant," which, to be fair, she wasn't wrong there.
Also, she is probably stressed by her dad, who didn't teach her the correct way to deal with stress.
Gordon made the tough chick cry after all the shit she gives her sister for crying. 🤣 It was great to see her get a reality check after trying to argue with Gordon, even though all these issues ultimately stem from the dad
Well it’s how they were brought up. The older sister is the stronger/stoic personality cause Greek women are strong like that. Also the little sister is the small weaker but very vulnerable girl who will get protected by the family. It’s a vice versa thing. You’ll know when you have a troubled upbringing with high standard parents
@@zombielord102 You have them mixed up. The older one is the crier. The younger one is the chef.
@@zombielord102 I grew up with a chill parent and a unnecessarily high standard parent. It was all good until it goes bad. The older sibling will be increasingly black sheep, scapegoated, and eventually start getting all flak for sometimes absolutely nothing, most of the time something that the parent and/or sibling did because they're "useless", something I'm used to, although I own my own business and income.
The one in this situation that was being the protected one, was the younger sibling.

The dad is a raging narcissist. The daughter that is the cook is the golden child seeing as she is by her father in the kitchen. Taria is the scapegoat.
The family has a lot of emotional disregulation, all owing to the father's toxic narcissism.
Miss "stop crying" got a good dose of her own medicine. She ended up shedding a few tears herself. Serves her right. Good ol karma.

They’ll have the nerve to be like “the customers love it” and the restaurant is empty
I know its like seeing somone go on a fashion show with actual turds in their knickers. 😂
It has been widely reported that most of the conversions you see are scripted. The staff are real, but the producers go over the planned conversation before it is filmed. The first night is setup to fail on purpose. The production will send in 3 times more customers then normal to purposely make the kitchen fail, and tell the customers to specifically order the difficult menu items. So while somewhat fake... it is still entertaining
@@nicholas_scottI don’t disagree it’s clearly very set up by the production crew but I don’t know if I’d say “scripted”, the emotions are too real and raw, especially in this episode. People can’t act that well lol
It's all about the ego. Obviously, there can't be anything wrong with their food or business practices, so Gordon's job is to walk in and tell them they're absolutely right about everything. And when he doesn't do that, they get upset.
Every time I rewatch this, I'm stuck by Taria's kindness and beauty, and Karen's patience and common sense. Those are really the two holding this thing. the chef father and daughter are just loose cannons ready to explode at any moment. those poor ladies.
Gordon is truly the GOAT. In one night, he destroyed this family emotionally just to rebuild them stronger than ever. That’s incredible
The sister crying after Gordon ate the food saying “the pita was good😭” killed me
I felt sorry for the sister who kept crying. The other sister and the dad annoyed the hell out of me. It’s not just their attitudes, the inability to take responsibility for the problems in the kitchen annoyed me as well. It doesn’t matter if you created the mess, or used the rotten food or not, if you can’t follow basic food hygiene and safety guidelines you shouldn’t be allowed near a kitchen. I’d hate to see the state of their kitchens at home.

@@enozlliks7794 She absolutely had a valid reason to cry. It's her dear family's restaurant and the food sucks so she is at the front line of witnessing the destruction of her family's dream. Omg iknow I love her. ❤ ughhh so sweet I want her to marry me 😭
"You wanna go sit with him? And chit chat.. get out of my kitchen"... He and his insecurities aren't ready for that chess board 😂😂
"if i want to babysit ill go babysit my granddaughter, shes more fun then u guys!" lmao yes peter managing employees is like babysitting kids. you have to set rules and make sure the rules are followed. lol great one liner tho
This is my fav episode! About Family's business, and the transformation of their characters and business. Awesome!
The girl who crys ever 5 minutes need a hug
Or some really good meds.
She’s annoying, grow the hell up
Looks like as of 2023, this one is still roaring. One of the few that was actually saved long term! And I'm so happy to see it, the passion and excitement from the family is apparent. The father was a mean old man stuck in the past, but he was always passionate about his food, and constantly beaten by the stress of the failing restaurant. I knew any change that would show would be sincere, and as soon as he started smiling in the episode, and as the episode went on, I knew that the restaurant would be in good hands. This is one that I would like to visit myself.
The dad that can’t even look at any of his family as he “apologizes” definitely hits too close to home. 😐
Poor Tariya. She is just the messenger between chef and customer. At around 14:00 the father was told that Ramsey did not like any of the food, and Tariya said that Ramsey liked the pita.
This place is mere blocks away from my apartment, they are very much still open, so they're strong enough to survive the pandemic. Usually full house near the end of the week and into the weekend nights.
A tough family dynamic, but the fact that they pulled through in the end and are still around I think shows there really is a lot of care.
That’s so cool to know! Thanks for the update :)
Some rare happy news! I'm glad for them. Thanks for sharing that.
Thanks, for updating us! They learned a lot from Chef Ramsey.👏🏻💯
Are the daughters still there?
Lol😅
what no way they are still open
One thing I love is how Gordon doesn’t just point out and explain what’s right or wrong, but he also does something about it to solve the problem. Gordon deserves the title as the best food critic.
Meh...
I said he's so good at a lot of things he should be the president God bless
Im sorry ik its not funny but everytime something was happening and the camera zoomed in to that one daughter crying almost every 5 minutes i couldnt help but laugh its so comical the way it happens, its like a Kardashian episode😭😭😭
Me: Hey Tariya how are you?
Tariya: starts crying*
12:06 lol he seems so damn proud of himself for that. "Mous-suck" 😁
Native Seattlelite here. Went here both before and after the big menu change. Yanni's wife ALWAYS waits on us and she is a gem! The food has always been incredible. I usually get the roasted chicken and it is out of this world.
Nice try, Peter.
Glad she’s hasn’t fallen into place as a true “Karen”
They don’t date the food in the fridge. She didn’t recognize mold. I’d never eat there because their practices aren’t good.
@@AtlChica883 I mean, they were embarrassed on national TV and berated over it 10 years ago, and the restaurant is still thriving today. I'm sure they're doing things properly nowadays
@@AtlChica883Why would they go back to that? The place is still around so they’re obviously doing something right.
I'm impressed and happy with this family, and even to this year 2023 they are still open and serving ❤❤
the one thing i cant get over, at the beginning introducing the family, they make fun of the one daughter always crying especially the other sister whose laughing at her but as they mention their crisis not being able to get medical because they cannot afford it then the other sister is crying about it... so its okay for them to pick fun at the other crying but when the other starts no one is pointing and laughing, nice family...
Gosh I love the way Gordon cared about Taria (sorry if I spelt her name wrong). You can tell the father side of him came out when he kept pushing her to tell him what was wrong. Enjoyed seeing the caring side of Gordon a lot :D
I always laugh when people say “what does Gordon Ramsay know about *insert different type of foods* “ Oh…i don’t know, he’s cooked nearly every food on the planet, has multiple Michelin stars and decades of experience being a chef/restaurant owner, the list goes on and on. I would think he knows. Lmao. I also love them rating their food 10/10 but make $5k/month at the most and the dining room is always empty 😂
That has to be my favorite part of any of Ramsay's shows, that moment where the chef gets fed up and debates Gordon on how he doesn't know what he's talking about. They always rate their dish super high, as customers are saying the opposite.
@@dionstewart7394 literally. They send in audition tapes, don't clean up and gets mad when he does an inspection 🤣 which makes me question if any reputable health inspector goes to these restaurants before they get in bad condition....but maybe not
Gordon Ramsay: "This restaurant is broken!!!"
Greek Chef: "Put a little windex on it"
I love Gordon Ramsey. So uplifting to watch the impact that he has.
This is such a guilty pleasure for me. The editing, the musical stings, the dramatic aggressive behavior at the beginning only to be followed by a humbling uplifting ending. It's so stupid but yet I can't look away. Most of these restaurants closed down after this show made it seem like Gordon was going to save them. So silly yet so entertaining.
According to other comments, this place is still open in 2023, which is pretty heartwarming!
The wife is such a lovely lady; I can't believe she has stayed married to her ogre of a husband who clearly does not appreciate her.
Lmfao that daughter is pure comedy. I just watched to how many times she’s cry. Every time she was on screen lol
This restaurant goes much deeper then bad food. The family dynamic is extremely dysfunctional and they need to change themselves before the restaurant can change.
Mannnn nobody on this episode can take accountability and this dude is so bad he starts acting like Gordon 🤣
Bro he's Mr Bean
If he acted like gordon for a second his business wouldn't be so deep in the shit
2023 and this place is still going. Nice work, Chef!
Glad to hear it.
Definitely a good episode. I wish he went over the new food items more though. I wonder how they’re doing now
This has to be the funniest Kitchen Nightmares episode OMG
