    Thanks for the awesome review, I'll definitely be checking out your band's stuff and purchasing one of these preamps ASAP!
    Unfortunately, I'm strapped for cash right now and I only have enough to get the preamp; I've been playing through a Krank Rev. Jr 20 watt and was just wondering if until I get enough money to purchase a nicer power amp would running through the poweramp of the Rev Jr. work for now?

  • @boltguitar

    @BLechuga Thx for your help, You and G major 2 & Engl E 530 Manuals answered my question.
    As G major 2 has 2 relays in 1 relay jack output, I could control Engl e 530 clean/lead and lo gain/high gain with a stereo cable from the G Major 2 relay output, but I would loose the other switch jack from Engl (preamp defeat and contour), but I could use Y cable from G major 2 output, but I would loose Gain and Contour control ;(, I think an amp gizmo could help for full control.
    Cya!

    @greensmurf9623 Před 14 lety

    @AnathemusVideos Every regular amp head is made up of two sections: the preamp section and the poweramp section. The preamp section is basically where your sound and eq etc comes from. The poweramp pushes the signal and drives the speakers.
    The advantage you get from having them separate is you can get more diverse options when it comes to trying different combinations of pres and poweramps to get different tones

    @BLechuga Thanks Man, by the way, awesome sound you got there!
    The G major 2 has to 2 relays channels, but on the Engl e 530 manual, it says that the clean/distortion and lo gain/high gain are in the same footswitch jack, the other is for preamp defeat and contour.
    I can´t say too much since I don´t have the unit, but I love the built in 1,5w power amps =D

Cómo se grabó el sonido de la viola en este review? Usaste los line outs o con microfono? Desde ya muchas gracias por tan completa y buena demo y saludos de Uruguay.

  • @BrianKnop
    @BrianKnop Před 13 lety

    @BLechuga The decimator cuts out the noise between playing of course. I don't have the gain all the way up, but it is fairly high. I am using this for bands playing extreme metal, so gain is rather important! Music in the vein of Soilwork, etc...

  • @BrianKnop
    @BrianKnop Před 13 lety

    @BLechuga No problem man! I'm really digging mine. Running it into the effects return on my JCM2000. It's fairly noisy on the lead channel (your heavy metal riffing settings), which is my primary use. I picked up an ISP Decimator pedal today to help deal w/that. Do you think different tubes might help?

    @mgdth502 To make a preamp work on a half stack you will require a poweramp so that you will get the volume you need to play it loud if you're in a band situation. I recommend the Fryette 2/50/2 or the 2/90/2 also the Atomic Mono Block MB50.

  • @BrianKnop
    @BrianKnop Před 13 lety

    @BLechuga Hehe. I've never had the gain all the way up. I am using this on some bands that need pretty high gain though. Definitely am loving the unit though. The Decimator helps, but there's more hiss than there should be in a decaying note/chord (high gain, knob near 12 oclock). Maybe non-factory tubes would help?

  • @BLechugaG
    @BLechugaG  Před 11 lety

    If you match up this preamp with a 100 watt power amp, it is the same (in terms of volume) as a 100watt head... the power (volume) comes from the power amp, the pre amp just gives the distortion, EQ, etc.

    BLechuga - Excellent demo and awesome playing. I have a couple questions. I have a similar rack set up and my first question is what are you useing in the power amp section? 6l6, el34, kt66, 6550 - other? my second question is, obviously the gain channels are far superior to the gt pro, how would you loop the pre amp in the chain and do you have any sound clips using the e530 pre, gt pro delay/flange and power amp.
    thanks in advance for your guidance.
