I come for the intros. 🤟
I wish for Pete's intros to be full blown songs, available for purchase.
I'm pretty sure they are. Most of them anyways.
Tabs,please
The part on that beautiful red suhr... just wow.
I think you literally played every fret on that intro.
Great work.
When you upped the gain, toward the end, my immediate thought was "70s-80s British Punk", and I fell in love!
The intro song reminds me so much of your last record. You have such a unique tone and style. As soon as I listen to a few notes I instantly recognise it's you. Like Joe Satriani's notes, or Chris Cornell's vocal lines. Keep at it. Cheers from Argentina!
Thanks man! That’s a really nice complement.
Getting Stone temple pilot vibes for sure. I've got the micro terror but thinking of getting this for the effects loop and cabsim. thanks for the video just shows what amazing sounds can be had without having to spend thousands
Orange really does have a sound. Sounds great!
Some big, open, Oasis sounding chords too!
I love the Terror Stamp, constructed my whole pedalboard around it. I set the gain to 10 o'clock and use a Friedman BE-OD Deluxe for distortion. Before COVID I was using it at rehearsals with a heavy rock band and had no problems hearing myself. Built-in FX loop is a bonus feature, I like to put a boost or eq in the FX loop for some extra volume.
This is rad news!
Incredible tone. I love it!
I got rid of all my big heads and 4x12 and now have this and a 1x12 mesa cab and a bunch of pedals and for my room i actual sound better. That shape knob is really powerful too but you dont really need to move it far from 12 o clock to get a good sound. Excellent playing pete :)
Another great review and more great playing. Thanks, Pete!
Your phrasing is always a pleasure to the ears.
Quality demo as always Pete, great little Pedal/Amp.
Great video! I have mine as a mini-amp rig with some dirt boxes and a TCE Plethroa X5 in a 4-cable setup with the dirt and 2 of the PX5 slots into the front and the rest in the Terror Stamps loop. It all fits on a small pedalboard.
Great stuff, great playing, great review, thank you Pete!!!
Thanks!!! I just ordered one. My banjo thanks you, too!
Cool little backup/practice solution. And that intro song - dang - that is one of your best it was impressive.
Pete, your playing is always superb, but it felt especially inspired in this particular video. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
Thank u!
One of your best riffs Pete !!
Kickass review (and amazing playing) Pete as always!! I heard you mention the Ampete switcher so now I think might need one of those too...!
😮
This cat can mutha forking PLAAAY!!
Thank you for your time producing this awesome videos!
You have a subscriber from Costa Rica
I may have to snag this bad boy! Another great video. My dream job lol
Great stuff. I got one of the Micro Terrors from Orange a few years ago, and I’m always super impressed with the sounds you can get out of that little 3 lb. head. Looks like they’re keeping to tones going with this guy!
I love how you took the Komet out of the cabinet to 'install' the Orange lol. :D
Really great demonstration of this amp ! You made me want to use mine with my single coils guitars, but with the lockdown, I don't have access to them.
It's also interesting to hear it in a marshall cab. Very different sound than with an Orange cab. The possibilities of this amp are amazingly wide !
Awesome job !
i love the sound of the Micros, I have a micro dark. I heard a micro terror with a mesa 12AX7 STR in it, it sounded great. These sound great too. The circuit sounds best for lead tones. A 12AU7 will make it a really nicely detailed clean preamp. These are great for tube rolling, as there is no guesswork, lol.
Loving that guitar...
That was amazing!!!
Another great review Pete! Thanks for doing this, I was looking for reviews before purchasing one. 👍🎼🎸
That sounds great. Got to pick one up.
Great stuff, Peter!
Hey cool, loved this song, and nice box.
Beautiful playing mate. I'm gonna have to get me one of those..
What an absolutely killer backup amp!
It can be a backup amp as well as a normal amp? Bonus!
This thing is awesome 👏
Great review as well Pete 👍
you RULEZZZZZZ man! AMAZINGGGGGG Pete!!!!
Nice little amp and another great vid Pete...the peppermint Suhr strat steals the show though.
Opening Jam is killer!
Just wrecked.my neighborhood. Bass to terrorstomp to vintage Peavey 2x12 sub (low pass filter) to Mesa 4x12 (high pass filter but cab add low end) ... When using guitar I usually get these amps out at full volume through a half stack. It's just the nature of the power amp. Bass into the terrorstamp into the sub into the 412 for some reason will not fart out and at full volume makes the house shake four houses down. This is my new bass rig
very very very nice solo
That would simplify my rig...Guitar, board, cab. Win!!!
I've been doing it that way for a few years now. I love it! Quilter Micro Block 45 was first, now I have a Hotone Britwind (my bigger board) and a smaller rig with the Terror Stamp. I can carry my entire rig (cab, amp, pedals, two guitars in a dual case and a case full of mics & cables for the PA) in one trip from the carpark!
Pete that lead on your sig guitar was sick man. Do you ever get sick of being told how good you are ? lol
Great video, so I ran to my guitar shop and bought one. Got home and plugged the cab sim into my Presonus audio interface, and in the effects loop I placed a Holy Grail reverb. I was surprised how good Of a tone I got when hearing it through my Rokit 5 G3 monitors.
Another awesome review. I now need one of these.....and a guitar with single coil pickups (the single coils sounded sooo good with this amp). Seems like it might be good for silent recording (with IR's) as well.
Anyhoo, thanks again for the review, and keep em comin!
Oh yes it is ! I run it with a Mooer Radar and it's just awesome !
I wasn't expecting to like this piece of gear.. but you explained it's functions and sound pallet so well, I'd actually consider it now. You're not just a great player Pete but a great communicator. They really tuned this little amp well. I'll definitely consider this a really good stand-by / back-up amp for gigs if things were to go sideways with my main amp. It's size makes it a no-brainer for adding to the gig bag.
There is far better little box like this. I bought one and I kept it 2 days. I was very disappointed. It doesn't sound good. Too harsh. I sent it back and thankfully goes with a quilter interblock 45. This thing kicks ass with m'y digitech bad monkey. More clarity than this bee's house😅
Thank you!
Neat. According to the text in the Sweetwater link, it has a 12AX7 tube pre-amp stage. Amazing they stuffed all of that into a pedal. Hard to say if it sounds better than my Quilter 101, since as mentioned Orange amps definitely have a "character" sound to them. Way smaller, though, and more suited to pedalboard mounting.
You made it sound better than other demos did.
He always does!
Nice mix on that into.
I am not partial to the Orange tones. They are too fat for me most of the time. That mid pop is not quite where i like. A pro like yourself can find the tone though. Nice.
Man, hot intro again! You should release all your intros in an album sometime!
Best CZcams demoer!
Love that last chord and then Soldano appear........to be continued.......
Amazing vid, Pete! Intro track killed, as usual - as technically great as the music is, it’s fun to listen to. You almost play with a sense of humor, if that makes sense.
I hear "terrorist amp" every single time
tHANKS A LOT! nOW i CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING ELSE.
I just built a 2nd, smaller board based around this amp. It is very loud. I'm yet to try it live, but I will soon.
It was hard finding the right pedals to pair with it for my liking, running it cleanish between 10 & 11 o'clock on the gain and shape control between 12 & 1 o'clock.
It seems to work fine with a TS9 type overdrive and a Boss DS-2. Mode I of the DS-2 into this amp seems to nail the Smells Like Teen Spirit sound, which is cool.
I find it runs out of headroom pretty quick, but it's loud to start with. I also run a limiter before the input to keep the difference between my "clean" and distortion tone closer together. Otherwise it would be a case of going from not loud enough to too loud.
For recordings I'll definitely find this useful for higher gain rhythm tracks, no pedals required. Gain at 2 o'clock sounds great - any more than that and it starts to lose some mojo IMO.
Super playing Pete, there is a big difference between a studio musician and a touring one, I find the touring players are more willing to take risks and always show more soul (my opinion anyway)
excellent
Hehe - When they get a 4x12" cab that small... :o)
awesome as ever man your my favorite guitarist amazing, would you demo the bugera infinium v5, i would want your opinion please thanks man your fricking awesome
Huge Orange nut here. I'm mostly a bassist (Orange Bass Terror) but have been looking for something to record with at home for guitars. I have the Micro Terror but there's no cabsim. Sounds great in jams. Was leaning towards one of the Tech 21 flyrigs and the Orange Bax Bangeetar preamp is really expensive and impossible to find, let alone try. I just know the Terror really well and this looks to be my answer. Excellent vid and it helped me make my decision. Cheers from Canada.
Your intros are often reminding me of STP`s Shangri La Dee Da days...
I dig that record
@@PeteThorn Dean and Robert are truly one of the greatest composers duo of the last 50 years.
I love my stamp :)
Hi Pete!
First of all, beautiful song. Nice riff, great solo. You make the guitar sing the way I like it.
This amp was recommended to me, but I already have two overdrives in the chain (xts atomic overdrive and H&K tube factor) and a boost pedal, so I thought of a small head that only cleans, like the Vox mv50 Clean. What do you think about it? do you have any suggestions?
I won mine through oranges wish granted. I'm just waiting for it to get shipped.
If it's the same as the Microterror and Microdark there's a 90w stereo poweramp chip inside, but it's only used at 20w mono output. It'd need more voltage and heatsinking (to that chip) to deliver the 90w output. A lot of bands use the Micros as backup spare amps for gigs.
This might work quite well with my NU-X, CERBERUS, I'm considering, been thinking a Pedalboard Amp might work Best with a Separate Cab for it. I'm going to go with the EMINENCE CANNABIS REX, HEMP CONE SPEAKER, for the Cab. Probably 2x12, SEISMIC AUDIO CAB. Man, I Love that Surf Metallic Green S-Style SUHR, I wish I could have a LEFTY in that!!! Thanks!!
I wonder how it would compare to the Bluguitar AMP1 by Thomas Blug. Similar concept.
Btw, thanks for the free concert, Pete. :-)
I wonder how loud is the output volume you’re getting from your cabinet. I am very curious where this thing sits volume wise, a sound meter would be a cool addition to your demo setup for us technical junkies ;) still, change nothing & I’m enjoying the demo all the same. Thank you for putting this through it’s paces!
I got one a month or so ago. Frustrated I can't play it on a stage yet. I can't believe how loud it is. I've yet to compete with a drummer for volume, but for my band I'd say it'll be plenty loud enough. I only find the shape control useful between 11 and 1 o'clock and I really don't like the cab-sim sound, but it sounds like a BIG amp to me through even my 1x10 and my 1x8" ISO cab in the studio. Try it with gain at 10.30 and put a bluesbreaker pedal in front of it... Magic!
I bought one and kept it two days. Too harsh, too noisy, no possibility to dial a tone i like. I sent it back and bought an Inter block 45 quilter. Far far better. With my bad monkey I can gig with it, without a doubt.
Nice video as always! If you (or anyone...) don't mind me asking, are the two volumes independent or will Vol 2 add to whatever is set to Vol 1?
Hey Pete, have you ever made a video about the Fryette power station that is next to the suhr head? I‘m pretty interested in how it sounds going out of my pedalboard in it. Thanks for you great work!
Great video! I've been mostly a multi-fx user so far and sometimes I consider moving to pedals, which didn't happen yet. This seems like a good solution for home use where I could use some pedals in front of it, or use just as a power amp for my multi fx since it has a loop (got a 2x12 laying around...). Am I thinking correctly?
Do a follow up comparison video of this Orange Terror Stamp vs a Joyo American Sound (since quite a few of us have JAS boxes now as a baseline) to go 'direct to a PA' with the OTS. Or just do a Joyo pedal series.
Stat-iest riff Ive heard in awhile man.
He is the best old school modern musician left for me as a listener. The Jordan Rudess of guitar.
check out Doug Rappoport...
Great demo!
Would the Stamp still sound good at low volumes for playing quitely in a flat/apartment? I read one reviewer say it sounded thin at low volumes.
Or maybe I can connect the Stamp to my audio interface, then to studio monitors, and control the volume that way?
I’m right on time! 😂
First!
Pete Thorn last!
I am in love with the terror stamp 🤘 It sounds like shit in all the right ways, and i love the insane BITE i can get with active pickups and a boost 😁 Chainsaw chugs 🤪
Pete, can You confirm, can You send the signal from the effects loop out to work with something like Two Notes Cab M?
If the cab sim phones out had an option to turn off the cab sim it would be perfect for it..
i use the effects loop line out to send out to my cab sim.
@@jamescuttsmusicjcm5013 thank You
Blows my mind that this little thing is 20W.
Nice job as usual. If I plug the Stamp into a 2x12 cabinet, would it be loud enough to gig with? I need a fly/fast rig and this has the 2 volumes. A Quilter is also an option. Stumped!
I just picked one of these up and I'm running into a 2x12 and it's scary loud. Way louder than I'd ever play with my band. You will struggle if you want really clean but with the gain at about 10 o'clock you have enough volume (easily) and a nice edge of break up sound. Also - if you're running a clean preamp pedal into the effects return you will have plenty of headroom using the power amp on its own. The only complaints I've heard are along the lines of "This thing didn't cut it at rehearsal - the other guitarist in our band plays though a 100w Marshal head into 2 4x12 cabs and this thing couldn't keep up". Well yeah, obviously in that scenario it won't but realistically if you need that much volume you'd mic it up and go through the PA. For anyone looking for something powerful enough to keep up with a drummer, this will do it. Any more than that, mic your cab up and you're good to go.
I don’t know why, but in my head I could hear Chris Cornell Godzilla singing over the top of the intro track! Another great one, Pete!
Hey Pete, How does it sound with the cab sim/headphone jack plugged into an audio intrlerface ? I looked at the manual. This is one option.
Curious about this as well.
It sounds just okay. The cab sim isn’t great. Better option is to run from the effects loop send to your interface and use third party IR’s.
Just checked it out..20 watts..wow. Can you use the cabsim headphone without a load? I'm assuming yes. Sounds amazing as always Pete.
Yep!
This seemes to be a decent D-Class Power Amp, works great for guitar.
I think it’s actually class A/B!
@@PeteThorn Right! I was missleaded by the cool sounding BassTerror concept:-) PS: Was not that fan of D-Class amps in the past, but times an technologie changes...
@@333Lightspeed I have the Bass Terror. I've gigged and beaten the hell out of mine for years. Insanely powerful. I put it up halfway through my Orange 1x15 and I can knock birds out of the sky. Anything more than that I can knock down a mountain.
Graet Demo thanks ! I like the fact you dont do the irritating time stamp on your vid so viewers can freely scroll the timeline instead of being forced to watch huge chunks of tim like so many you tubers do now. youtube is so trendy with people always copying the way the make vids and even speak , the tube was cooler years ago before google bought it and made the cult of “creators “ oh wait its “influencers” now , im so out of touch !
Can it get stereo in the fx loop input?
I tried two of these and when dialled up to a high gain, there was this horrible static "digital" noise every time I stopped playing. Just terrible. I was really keen on the concept, but couldn't reconcile that racket it made. So I took it back and grabbed a second hand Tiny Terror. No issues there, wonderful sound.
Interesting. What was your exact signal path ? I wonder if the power supply was a switch mode power supply.
@@johnstitt2615 I tried a couple: with pedal board, and without (i.e. straight in with one lead): seemed much the same when cranked up. Took the same feed into the Tiny Terror, fairly quiet in both cases, same with all my other amps. Def. a digital artefact of some kind. Nasty.
Here's my problem with Pete's reviews. He could make a stick and a tin can sound great so....😎
Next step is ORANGE matchbox amp. 😃😁😀
I gotta stop watching this channel lol, he makes everything sound good.
Terror Stamp or Bax Bangeetar?
What i f I run this straight into an already (slightly)overdriven amp? can it be done without causing damage to something?
This is an amp and running it into another amp will damage the other one!
What you could do is run the FX send into another amp but I don't see the point.
@@aarondr594 ok thx for the info , liked the overdrive of the Orange on its own , got me thinking bout intergating this into my board and use it as one of my overdrives , and also if needed usable as a backup when required , but maybe in a simple way , not the best idea
Yeah, but then he pulls the wall wart into frame and it’s as big as a car battery charger!! Lol!! Seriously though.. I’m guessing it has a pretty beefy power supply.. as big as the pedal itself, maybe??
I like it, but it seems to lack sustain I guess. The solo of the strat rhythm sounds great, but the ring out of the chords die fast.
Maybe no valve compression of power tubes
dont get mad pete i have so much respect but i swear the intro reminds me of a zztop track....just the main riff tho....and maybe it is idk....sounds wiked tho
I can hear the FIZZ
What's with the Lab?
Just havin fun :)
Hard to believe that thing drives a 412 cab! Did you ever demo some of the quilter gear? By the way great playing!
