    How lovely it is to see well disciplined children who help out with no complaints! It is especially lovely to see well disciplined children being treated with dignity and respect. I think you are doing a great job with educating them overall. You make learning fun. I love how supportive you are in helping them develop their individual interests and talents. They are going to grow up to be well rounded, productive, confident members of society. I don't often see attentive parents. Sadly most people plant a child in front of a tv or hand them a cellphone instead of actually engaging with them and parenting properly. :)

    This touched my heart and encouraged me. Thank you. There is so much emphasis on how draining and difficult motherhood is and it’s just great to see such a wonderful example. Motherhood is indeed hard but the Lord is really speaking to me to have an attitude of gratitude and enjoying my kids rather than just thinking of how I can get to “what I want to do...”. Lord help me be the mom you want me to be.

    I teach high school history. It would shock you how unprepared some public school kids are. It warms my heart to see a parent that really cares about their children's education. Believe me, it is getting harder every year. I have at least 3 kids right now that can barely read and are not considered LD. It's unreal how offended their parents get when I call them in to say that I, unlike some other teachers, will not be graduating them until I can be sure they actually know the material. I have been threatened with lawyers, etc! It's crazy how a parent can only care if the child gets through school. Not what they actually know. Bless you for caring about your kids. I see so many that do not!

I have watched some home school channels and those children don't seem to be as advanced. Some don't even pass the 8th grade level. As a help to the biscuit makers... I saw where instead of cutting them out in circles, while the dough is still whole, cut them in squares, less "waste".

    I tried this with my son . I put him back in school because he was lonely and we weren’t getting along. The school has to test him for them to know what grade to put him in. He didn’t do well on the placement test to enter fifth grade . So , he is behind two grades . I regret so much keeping him home . We did do school but he still was very behind and became a little introverted. Never again!

      Have faith that it will all work out in the end - if he tests behind by two grades, my guess is that there was already a problem that the public school system hadn’t detected.
      I’m in my first year of homeschooling my middle schooler, and I’ve learned a LOT about where the public (and charter) schools failed her. She was bright enough to get average standardized test scores despite the major gaps, and she had decent grades so I had no idea there were issues until I started working with her. All that to say, don’t feel guilty for trying homeschooling- it may have been the best thing for your son because it raised your awareness of his needs. The trick is staying involved now as his advocate instead of just trusting the teachers to help him, who is just one of likely 20+ students in the class.

      The fact that you called your child bad in the comment section of a youtube video is very concerning. No children are inherently bad. I wish her the best in life

    Thank you for sharing this glimpse of your life! I would love to have multiple children and be able to homeschool them - alas, I only have one middle schooler.
    If you’re looking for a cheap, effective way to teach typing, I’m using the Mastering Computer Typing book by Sheryl Lindsell-Roberts. We had used various game methods in the past (both at home and through school), but they didn’t work for my daughter. She can type quickly, but she doesn’t use proper finger placement. The book gives me more control, effectively slowing her learning, whereas the fast game-based methods simply served to reinforce her bad habits.

    It seems your children have life skills. Are they academically at a level appropriate for their ages?

    • @threerivershomestead
      @threerivershomestead  Před 3 lety +15

      Yes, although I guess that's subjective. If you mean appropriate in terms of where they would be in a public school setting? Yes and no. In some subjects they are a grade or two above grade level. I have one child who struggles with reading and is one grade below in just that subject, but above in math. I let my kids work at their own pace and we school year-round, which means we are all over the place in terms of "grade level". But my 13 year old will be starting dual enrollment college courses in 2022 if that is any indicator.

      I was unschooled and always pretty much a grade ahead except in math (which I caught up in during a summer), my sister and I did college at 16 dual enrollment as well

    Jesus Christ is King and is coming soon… John 3:16 “For God so loved the World he gave is only begotten son(Jesus Christ) and whosoever believes in shall not perish but have everlasting life.” This is a sign from God to come back to him and repent. Repent meaning turn away from sins and give your life to Jesus. Jesus died so that you can have a chance to live with him in peace and pure bliss instead of going to eternal torment in hell. Jesus loves you so much. Read the Bible and learn more about him. God bless you🙏🏾
