I think that their choice to use all bears is valid, seeing as their brand revolves around the bears and their other animals sometimes have very different figures. If the different animals were too different, then you wouldnât be able to mix and match clothes/ accessories. Also a lot of people look for advent calendars with Christmas only in mind, and it might throw people off if they get a summer shirt for a yellow bear in a Christmas advent calendar.
100% agree. It'd be really limiting to not be able to mix and match the clothing, and I'd be really bummed if I got a random summery bear in my winter Christmas advent calendar. Like I got the thing because I want to get into the Christmas spirit! I'd be more disappointed if they *weren't* winter themed.
Yes I totally agree, I wouldnât like this as much if the bears were just generic bears for all year round! In my opinion this is a solid 10/10 advent calendar and I would have loved it as a child! when it comes to advent calendars like these I think the items inside should be Christmas themed. Also I definitely think itâs justified having just bears I think cats and dogs for example would just have made the whole idea of the advent calendar confusing and a bit messy. Itâs better to sticking to bears and just changing up their design and having swappable outfits it makes so much more sense! I also think itâs justified not having other brands like Pokemon or disney within the calendar because they wanted to stick to their own brand and create just a BAB advent calendar which caters to everyone rather than being very niche and specific with whatâs inside like Pokemon for example. A mixture of characters and brands wouldnât really cater to a lot of people since not everyone will like all those different characters.
not accusing her of anything but I think Jackie is just salty that she had to spend over 100$ on something and her making all those remarks are just her way of trying to justify the large price tag she had to pay. Which side note I do get, I mean if you had to purchase something and the price for it was astronomically high simply because of int' shipping wouldn't you try to mentally justify the price?
yeah i 100% agree
They have different animals that use the same body as the bear, they basically just change the ears and tail, lol. I have a kitty and she can wear the regular bear clothes, so it's a shame they didn't do different animals for this tbh.
Typically, the little doors on an advent calendar are meant to be opened and then shut again nice and tidily, which is why you are often finding that the perforations donât go all the around.
Came here to say this haha they're doors not tabs đ
That makes perfect sense. I grew up with a handmade advent calendar made from thick soft felt with a little mouse you moved. There were 4 of us kids & we took turns getting to move the mouse & my mom would put a little treat in the pouch. Ours went up to the 24th so each of us got to move the mouse 6 times & get 6 little treats. It's still in our family & I love that nothing is wasted though I am always tempted by themed advent calendars & can understand why people love them so much.
Jackie... I think the reason the window covers keep tearing in exactly the same spot, is because they aren't meant to be completely detached. They're supposed to be flaps. đ
The packaging is literally a gingerbread house, how is it so surprising that the bears are Christmas themed? Theyâre still cute regardless
Previous unboxing--Jackie: "They should have found a way to secure the items so they stayed in their own window"
Today's unboxing--also Jackie: "Why is everything stuck in here?"
Love the plushies!
đ€Ł this was my first thought
that's exactly what i thought hah đâ
My thoughts exactly lmao
Lol
So relatable
As someone who worked at buildabear I can confidently say they would never put licensed characters in something like that. They have to pay a lot to get the license and are going to make more money by using them to make full-sized plushes. Secondly while you might not like it. The bear is a key part of the brand. Most traditional buildabear fans would prefer it to be just bears. I do definitely think they could have thrown in a rabbit since Pawlette is one of the original designs and is well known enough to be considered a mascot of the brand.
they might not just put a random licensed character into a standard calendar, but I could see them doing something like an all-pokemon branded calendar in future.
I totally agree
My daughter wanted a kitty cat to show up eventually in hers, but she was far from disappointed we got it for $39 and considering itâs at least $100 trip every time in store it was definitely worth it!
I agree! I always like the real build a bears and not the other characters
@@K26872 not build a bear having bear in the name. Teddy Roosevelt is quaking in his grave
12:45 I love watching Jackie struggle ripping the doors off đ even through the camera I can see you're not supposed to. The doors are to be folded up, that's why they keep ripping
That calendar is very cute, to me it has to be "Xmassy" since it's to build the hype for small children. At the size these bears have, they are perfect for putting on a tree and year after year you find them back in the decorations box. I imagine this company will make more each year, in time people could have a whole tree filled with build-a-bears!
Maybe it's because you didn't grow up with advent calendars, but the chocolates in them are all Christmas shaped, like presents and trees. The whole point of an advent calendar is for the whole thing to be Christmas themed
Yessss!!!!!
Yesssssssssssssssss!
Thatâs so cool!!!!!
That is so true
Yeh but I agree with it being things you can play with all year round
I personally believe that for the price you get a really good amount of accessories, and bears. However, about your wanting the bears to be more for every day during the year, I would think that most people who would get this if they were adults will keep them as decorations throughout the holiday season. As far as kids go, they might agree with you. I do wish they wouldâve fix that tear in the Mrs. clause outfit though. Otherwise that one is really cute too.
I literally came to the comments to say exactly this!!
Definitely the type of stuffed animals that you would bring out each year at Christmas! â„ïžđ
I think the point is that these are their 'starter' outfits, and you collect more clothes for them and change them whenever. That's my take on it anyway.
I would personally love this - I love the Christmas theme, love that it's all bears, but I don't think I'd pay $50. However, if I was given it as a gift, I'd be thrilled still! I love how you dressed all the bears too; so cute!
As an adult I totally get your view of the Christmas theme, however as a parent my kids would love it and we have Christmas themed plushies that are loved and played with all year long! I do agree it would be nice to mixup bears/dogs/cats/ rabbits though đđ đ»âïžâïž xx
Yeeeah this felt needlessly nitpicky Jackie, not gonna lie; it's a Christmas build-a-bear advent calender, I'd expect Christmas bears. It's kind of like grabbing a Cadbury's advent calender and being mad that every number is a christmas shaped piece of milk chocolate.
I'm totally with you, she was just trying to find excuses to judge the calendar. It's Christmas OF COURSE the calendar is going to be about it
Totally agree
Agreed.
Agree
Agree completely
She just wanted to be able to be salty
I actually really liked everything about this ... its Christmas themed and I like that they were all bears so you can swap thru clothes đ€·ââïž guess everyone has their own opinion tho
you are right
I agree with you! And compared to other advent calendars, I think the price is great! I'm not into build-a-bear but this calendar made me wish I was lol.
If I had the money Iâd get this for myself. Very cute.
The only thing I was pretty disappointed about was the tree. I thought they would have the Santa bear already dressed as the last plush, not a tree. Also, a reindeer would have been nice.
Usually for collectors, christmas calendars are a way to have the Christmas collection, only found in the calendar. For eg, playmobil in their advent calendar have ALL christmas related figurines. Bc the point is not only to have some playmobil to play with but have the special Christmas ones. If I want normal one I go buy it. I think it is just that calendars are targeted to collectors or people who already love the brand and have the toys so they feel the need to buy the calendar. Maybe it is bc youâre not used to have advent calendar apart from choco Jackie.
Calendars are getting lazy selling normal stuff in em (like the Chanelâs) but you normally have to get Christmas themes things.
Tbh the bears are cute đ„°
The fun thing about these, though, Jackie, is that they don't have to be Christmas themed. Without their clothes on, they're just blank bears for the most part. You can order some small outfits, or even sew together little ones to change them however you want!
And even then the first two are just winter not necessarily Christmas.
Not sewing đđ she would hate that đ
Hi
I stress every time you rip the doors off, they're only perforated on 3 sides so you can close the door again and still have the picture on front to look at as a whole and not with holes everywhere.
Hahaha right? And she keeps asking why they tear! Lol
I love that theyâre Christmas themed!!!!!
This advent calendar might be predictable, but OH MY GOD! I would have LOVED this as a little kid! I can't wait until my nephew gets older, I'm going to send him one of these! (Hopefully Build a Bear will still be making them.)
Personal taste, I know. But you can't expect an ADVENT calendar to not be Christmassy - that's literally the point of them. It would be so confusing to the majority of people to get a summer bear outfit when they're in the countdown to Christmas. If anything that would show they put little to no thought into the calendar and shoved anything in there just to make more money. At least this shows a thought process by the company, and gives you something to have fun with and decorate with during the winter.
As for the different animals, I think the bears works best. You can mix and match with the outfits and I think most will agree that matching animals would look better than an assortment.
I understand that you didn't grow up with advent calendars, but there is a point to them, even if that seems lost in recent years.
Iâm Australian so I wouldnât mind a summer themed bear in my Christmas count down. Iâm desperate for summer Christmas representation
@@victopiatheunicorn1276 QUEENSLANDER!!!!! but yer summer bears would be cool also in cq which means itâs currently 33c during the day and Christmas is going to be another hot and sticky ones, plus last two Christmasâs we didnât have as many flys but they are back this year with a vengeance
Okay this sounds insensitive towards people who can't have a snowy christmas
It would be a waste of money and, even worse, resources, for companies to represent a summer Christmas in the northern hemisphere. No one would buy that, what are you even saying? Iâm sure Australia is perfectly capable of representing itself at Christmas, we donât have to do everything.
Itâs not insensitive either. Iâm sorry you donât get snow? đ
If not getting snow is literally a trigger point now then I think we all need to calm down a little.
Also didnât say they had to be snow themed. I was originally meaning that it makes sense that they are dressed as an elf or Santa and not in just a random top that is just so far removed from Christmas that it could be set at any time of the year - I used summer as an example.
@@Shin-uc7gh itâs literally a CHRISTMAS advent calendar⊠aka counting down to Christmas. Why wouldnât it be Christmas themed? If I spent that much money on an advent calendar and it was just random bits inside I wouldnât be best pleased. Itâs to celebrate the holidays so of course theyâre going to be Christmas themed. Some people are really reaching and I completely agree with you. People are acting like snow is this great thing when realistically if youâre not prepared itâs dangerous and can completely stop you in your tracks. Every year that we have had snow weâve been snowed in because we live on such a steep hill that it would be dangerous to try and get off it
Normally Jackie's reviews are on point but I found myself disagreeing with quite a bit in this one. I thought the calendar was awesome and loved the Christmas theme! The little bears were adorable!
I loved this one
I agree with Jackie , they could of included alot more accessories instead of jus clothes or made the bears into animals x plus they could of put Velcro on the clothes so kids can easily dress them , I donât think itâs worth the price like
It's cute but just not worth the price
@@kellywood354 well i think theyre all bears because the classic Christmas teddy bear is renowned while a cat or a dog isnt really a âChristmasâ animal thats marketed a lot during this season. Just my thought tho!
I agree with you
As a longtime fan of Build-A-Bear, I thought this advent calendar was cute!! I'm a sucker for teddy bears, so I do love that it's all bears. But if they wanted to be creative I wouldn't have minded like a plush penguin as an elf or even a little reindeer or moose to mix it up. I also like the Christmas theme as that's what it usually is. Although I think of the tree could have been a little bigger than the bears that would have been cute.
I'd buy it though.
i actually really like how the items are connected to the box on the inside, this is because with some advent calendars the items can get mixed around in the doors through the sides. With the plastic connecting the item to the box makes it so it doesn't go through doors.
Jackie: Buys a Christmas Advent Calendar
Also jackie: is mad all she got is Christmas accessories and beard
15:44 and despite that I know that this is indeed for Christmas my issue is is that you keep these bears all year round so if they weren't Christmas themed maybe one of them fine sure
16:05 Im not a fan of it being Christmas theme for something you would want to technically keep all year around
@@haerinslover do you not play with seasonal toys year round though?
It's an ADVENT CALENDAR Jackie. It's meant to be enjoyed during Christmastime. If a kid is getting such an expensive calendar then they probably have more than enough toys to play with all year round. If I had this kit I'd use the bears and tree to make a cute display during the holidays.
I actually think the lack of velcro on the back of the first one makes it look a lot tidier!
The cuteness overload snickers/giggles with the sleeping mask is such a vibe
I have to admit your review got the saltiness flowing this time. It makes perfect sense for there not to be other animals in my opinion. Christmas is about tradition a lot of the time, and Build-A-Bear was traditionally all bears, I also think the tree was adorable for all the bears.
Yeah haha it's an advent calendar, I'd expect it to be all christmas themed. I imagine there would be a bunch of people dissapointed if there were non-christmasy things in an advent calendar. I can totally see a kid sitting there on christmas playing out a scene with the two 'kids' sleeping and then santa and elves come and bring presents to the christmas tree
@@astaaraa.9625 Totally. I'd be really disappointed if I got an advent calendar that didn't have Christmas or at least winter themed items. I thought the whole point of them was to get into the Christmas spirit.
I think the tree was very cute, but I can't quite get over the size difference between it and the bears, it seems like them being the same size could throw off the display aspect.
I think they should include at least 2 of the animals they sell, and also I think I would never do anything with the tree btw chill
Kaylee is my nameđ
Hm, this time I have to politely disagree. It's an advent calendar, you get it for christmas. I'd be disappointed if it didn't have christmas themed plushies that I could use to decorate. And when you're a kid, would you not play with your plushies the rest of the year just because they're seasonal? I did.
I did as a kid I had a Christmas penguin and a valentine dog. Though my dog stole the penguin and took over it as his toy. It was so cute I didn't have the heart to take it back.
Well, my parents used to make me put everything Christmas themed away because it's 'bad luck' to have decorations out after Christmas.
I did once or twice harbor a Christmas Teddy all year and they didn't notice.
I agree
If you donât want seasonal you can take of the clothing too
I agree I love this advent caledar
I had so much fun watching you open the calendar and how freaking cute are the little ones. I found myself saying omg and awwww so many times!
Bonuses for the kit: yes more animals would be cute like Reindeers, Bears and White Owls. Maybe a human Boy and human Girl could work as well? The tree can stay. It would also be better if those plushies weren't also just meant to play with but to also hang on your tree if they're gonna make us Winter+Christmas theme.
BUT JACKIE, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. You aren't supposed to rip the whole door off. Its supposed to hinge on one edge...you know...like a door đđ
ikr i was screaming xD
@@scribblecloud she does it every video but it just seemed more obvious on this one cause the other 3 sides opened so nicely
The tabs are tearing because they're meant to stay on. Usually advent calendars have a cool or beautiful design and that way you can close the tabs again after getting whatever is inside out and you don't ruin the design :)
It always annoys me when she rips them off instead of closing it nicely again.
Idk Jackie, this Just seems a bunch of nitpick, this is a Christmas advent calender from build a bear. There brand is bears, any time I was there when I was little I got bears (they were cheaper) and is for Christmas, I would be mad as a kid is I didn't get a Santa bear. And yes you did pay like double the price but it's only 50 in USA, and for 50, this is great. It's like a Christmas playset ...idk this review rubbed me the wrong way....like u missed the whole point.

Shes thinking universal like say a Pokémon with Christmas clothing that can be put away for next year. Or say a cute bunny with Christmas clothes for next year...
@@Silver_wind_1987_ That's understandable, but I guess it gives Build A Bear more options to expand on collections for various holidays đ could you imaging a Halloween mystery pack, like a haunted house display. It was super cute either way đ„°

Those mini bears r around $15-20 each in the stores and the outfits r probably between $8-10 so it's worth it for $50
Your thinking of small frys there a diffrent size than the ones in these boxes
@@sadsprt-501 yes, these are the same size as the blind boxes they do. đ
Sorry, how much for that tiny bear?!đ
When I went to BAB to get my kid a stuffed animal I picked a large special octopus and even that was only $20-$25 without add-ons. I canât imagine that one of those tiny bears would be similar in price to a full size exclusive plush.
Guys, these r prefilled and some r discontinued bears. (at least that's what I've found in my search for the blue one with the shimmers) prefilled bears usually cost $10-15 for an 8inch bear and discontinued bears would cost more
Finding this video in February and absolutely love this calendar. Lowkey need this
I have been collecting build a bears for years, I didn't know this existed. I need one!
The set up makes sense for the price. The 6 minis are usually $6 each. The clothing can go from $10 to $20. As far as the whole advent calendar goes, it is a great value, especially for the low price.
Honestly, I would have been thrilled with this as a kid. I loved dressing up my toys. So an advent calendar that's all about dressing up bears with the ability to mix and match? Sign me up!
I have the 2022 one! It's amazing so far!

I think you are being too harsh. It's valid that it's all Christmas. It's a build up to the holidays. And having a 25th was pretty nice of them. I've never seen that. Maybe other characters would have been nice, but not at the added expense it probably would have incurred. I was actually very impressed with it. Imagine if someone put the 2nd bears' pants backward. Then Jackie's face would've made sense lol đ€Ł
Jackie, in the family, not everyone gets their own advent calendar. So each kid would get their own bear and outfit. This does work, plus you can date the year that bear was "made", and make a holiday collection. P.S. You have to be understanding that these are made for children hands. You are still great for doing this. Maybe someday you could have a child help you so you don't hurt your own fingers!
Certainly not at $50 đ we used to get our own, but they were full of cheap chocolate so they barely cost anything.
@@ActualCharky The three of us, my two brothers and I only got one calendar, total. Chocolate is something that is consumable, a build a bear is a toy to play with and at those costs it makes more sense. You can dress and undress the bear. It was just my thought based on my childhood.
I like that it's all same-build characters, because you can mix up the accessories and make them your own, or use just one favourite bear and play with it and all accessories. And the first two bears can pass in a non-christmas setting pretty well too. Making them all christmas-related is reasonable too, advent calendar is a christmas activity after all. The last plushie could have been a reindeer though. A kid can craft a little christmas tree themself, a reindeer would be a very cool thing to include.

Sorry Jackie but I love that they're all Christmas themed bears. It's like a family with their Christmas pjs. So cute. Also those doors aren't supposed to rip off. They're doors. You're supposed to close them
I actually kinda like it that all of them were bears.... they looked sooo good together... đđđ
Sorry to disagree Jackie... this calendar was AWESOME
Also I kinda wish that in the final together shot, the first bear had its bows and that night thing on... it was so adorable with them on
The first advent calender she put on the screen like the lindor is mine that I have right now!!
Actually, my favourite plushie ever that I had for 19 years is a christmas penguin with a little scarf and a santa hat. Honestly I never had a second thought about it, I think kids just don't mind
Thats why adults shouldnt have the right to nitpick kids toys when its catered to kids not to them
Yeah the stuffy I carried all my life year round and my mom still has (I named him thumper) was an Easter bunny plush. He held a stuffed egg between his hands. The egg was disconnected somewhere along the way a very long time ago so he looks less easter but I know he was and I didn't care. Kids don't care they'll play with them year round and let's all be real children will strip the clothes off after the first week (probably lose them)and carry their bear around naked any way so besides the red and green bear problem solved no longer Christmas themed.
I used to have a book advent. My mom would get 24 books, wrap them up, and then every day we would open up a new book. Can you tell Iâm a book worm? đ
That's lovely.
Book worms unite!!
Book worms together strong
@@bushra1732 indeed they are
I love this idea!!
I love plushies, especially russ berrie and ty ( beanie babies and beanie boos ) 8ve been collecting since 2005, so I have more than a few. It was one of the things my father and I did together. Love this video, it cheered me up, thanks.
I loved this unboxing. I would 100% buy this calender!! Those little bears are so freaking adorable đ
Considering this is a Christmas themed thing and it's marketed to kids, kids aren't gonna care that much about them being Christmas themed when its not Christmas.
You aren't suppose to remove the lid btw. If you look you'll see that one side is scored while with other sides are perforated. This is so that you can have a nice looking box for the entire span of time, instead of a box that's torn to more and more shreds as you open more of the windows.
First time here, love your energy! You're funny. I love plushies, I'm a collector so I have a sorts. Ty, and of course Build-A-Bear Nightmare Before Christmas! I'm not a gamer lol
Iâve been in the hospital for 6 days and all Iâve done is watch all your videos back to back
This Callander was 10/10! I think that it was adorable and perfect for a Christmas advent calendar. đđ
For this type of advent calendar you're not supposed to actually tear the whole thing off, just open the flap and leave it attached. That's why it's so hard to tear off. (Fun video btw, as always.)
I love plushies. I have been to build a bear many times and have gotten a rainbow bear, and a few other bears, a few dogs, a few cats, and some other awesome animals. It was a blast. I have not been to build a bear in a long time.
I love the little bakugou in the backđ€
Jackie: I want something different other than a bear
Advent Calendar Day 25: Here you go... something different
Jackie: "I know what I said, but that's not what I meant."
Me: LOL
I SCREAMED when I saw this pop up, I love build a bear. Gotta see if I'm gonna pick this up! Thanks Jackie
I'm 23 and I still love plushies. I mean, who doesn't? There is no harm in liking em.
I am in love with your Holy Carp pillow
I think this advent calendar is so cute. I love the fact that you can mix and match the accessories/clothes for the bear plushies.
I love plushies... most of my anime related plushies are at my brothers place in Vancouver, B.C., Canada and the rest of the plushies like a bear, a bunny, a weird bear-bunny hybrid, one giant Piplup and my favorite Stitch plushies is with me at my parents place.
usually the little flaps remain like doors, our kids actually put the little toys back into the box and play again the following years! We re-arrange the order for them, and they have fun, we now have about 5 or 6 different advent sets that get opened every year, and put away again with the Christmas decorations!
I absolutely love plushies my favorite ones are the squash mellows ones there just so soft. Love you Jackie ur the best đđ
I love plushies, I have a whole bed covered in them. I mainly just love cute ones of video game characters, but I also love build a bears. I'm actually watching this video with a werewolf and wolf cub build a bear
We need a Not Another Crap-vent Calendar!!
Honestly though, I find this B.A.B. Advent Calendar very cute. 9 on 10 for me personally!
Yessssss
I loved this calendar!! I collected Build a Bears when I was a kid and getting this would've been such a joy. It's so adorable!!
I think they're all adorable!
