I wish people knew it’s okay to do shows in college not everything has to be about “ high schoolers”
College have no drama 😂 you’re too independent so there’s hardly any violation
@@stevendarniel Smallville Season 5 has some college drama.
Or just not "adultify" everything we watched as kids like?? Kid shows can be kid shows??
this is a faithful recreation of scooby doo, they were highschoolers in the og run, so it makes sense
@@OryanStargazer True, but real murder wasn't really a thing in the original run, so I think skipping a few minor points wouldn't be a bad thing. Coolsville, for example, is a city name used in plenty of Scooby-Doo incarnations, but if you're trying to go gritty and realistic, you might wanna use something like Crystal Cove (y'know, the name of the town in the series whose name you're totally ripping off)
“Fred is supposed to be 16 going on 17 meanwhile his hairline is 16 going on 35”
Funny but 100% accurate, the entire cast looks like they’re in senior year of college, not senior year of high school.
Lol, half of them look married with kids.
Not even Velma looks like she's actually the mid 40's librarian pretending to "hip" and start questionable relationships with the boys at school
you're here too? how are you everywhere?
@@thunderkrux7745 ikr, she looks older than her mom
Except Velma. She looks at least 35
Okay but college would have been such a better setting. Let me paint the scene: Velma is a forensic science major and true crime fanatic. When a haunting starts happening on campus, she becomes obsessed with proving that a real person is actually behind it. Fred is an engineering major on a sports scholarship. He doesn't really care about athletics, he just wants to build stuff and helps Velma cause he gets to make traps. Daphne is a marketing major and Velma's roommate. She's dangerously curious about all the things her wealthy, controlling parents sheltered her from and finds that ghosthunting is very empowering. Shaggy is an undecided major with extreme anxiety, hence his emotional support dog, Scooby Doo. He only went to college cause his parents threatened to stop supporting him. He gets kidnapped by the "ghost" on campus while getting stoned one night, and Velma, Daphne, and Fred have to save him. He accidentally helps them defeat the ghost and though he hates it, he joins mystery incorporated cause he's never really had friends before. The show continues with them solving a new mystery every episode (like the cartoon), but a longer plotline will unravel throughout the season, coming to a head in the season finale as they find out that the dean is behind all the hauntings. The dean was trying to scare away students, because the school has lost funding and needs to suspend some of its programs.
Excluding the Shaggy getting stone part, how did you manage to come up with concepts and plot that are superior than this cringy, hot garbage of a Riverdale rip off?
Dang, wish you could have applied to be on the writing staff, I would watch your version.
Frame this, pin it to the wall, then take a photo and shove it into CW's face, because THAT is an interesting premise. This one's just... eh
That sounds that a great promo!!
I’d watch this
I get the feeling that you didn’t know Coolsville is the actual name of Mystery Inc’s hometown in most Scooby Doo anthologies. There are a few versions where they are from Crystal Cove, but most versions are Coolsvile. So you can’t really blame the show for having a lame name for the town setting.
It's part of the canon even though Coolsville was just a town in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and Mystery Incorporated features Crystal Cove. Scooby-Doo doesn't have a particular town the gang are originally from. Throughout Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and some other shows, they always hang out in their van. The Mystery Machine is basically their home, their city, their base of operations and school and its population is four teens and a talking dog.
@@tommydiaz-millan2438 point is it a part of canon but this guy's like "pfft coolsville?!? What a stupid name! This show sucks!"
@@illwill1991 He made a small joke about the name of the town, why are you so offended? Did you come up with that name? 😂
@@yallknownikkiyt1230 "offended"? Really? You think I was offended? Let me turn the question around on you. Why are you so offended whenever someone barely criticizes a CZcamsr you like?
@@yallknownikkiyt1230 I wouldn't use the word "offended" here. @illwill1991 is clearly just trying to illustrate my conclusion that Alex Meyers may not know about Coolsville being a part of pre-exisiting Scooby lore. Since he appears not to have known that fact, I made a comment to clarify for those who didn't know. @Tommy Diaz-Millan made a comment that didn't add anything to the conversation, so @illwill1991 stepped in to emphasize what my point was, so that @Tommy Diaz-Millan's comment didn't confuse people. Nobody's offended. We are just trying to spread knowledge.
I think the cast should’ve been in college instead of High School, because they look way to mature to even pass as a senior.
I'm pretty sure their all seniors so hopefully if they make a second season it'll take place in college
I want a college setting too ,it's always the highschool
It's not a teen drama series unless the "kids" are too old and there's some footage of rock hard abs.
Yeah, college would have been a better choice imo
They look dam near 30!
I'm mainly annoyed that Fred doesn't have an ascot tie. He's like the only character known for that tie and he doesn't have it.
Edit: Plus, it's a show titled after the Mystery Incorporated series in which he is wearing it so while some versions of him don't have it, this one should.
@G-Taehyung That's literally so many characters though. The ascot is iconic.
Well in What’s New Scooby-Doo back in 2002 Fred didn’t wear his iconic ascot as the character’s outfit was totally different compared the original signature outfit with the ascot
he has to earn it
He's supposed to be our ascot dork :

Woah Scooby is in it and Velma acts like VELMA?!?!? DAMN BRO
After HBO Velma, I see this as a refreshing thing
I agree. I'm honestly so confused on this review. Like, is this person even a fan of Scooby-Doo? All real fans of Scooby-Doo loved this. It really was a passion project and its closer the a real, *good* live action adaptation than we've ever had before. The best being the original live action movie of course.
Literally didn't know Coolsville was the original setting in so many Scooby-Doo shows. This youtuber is too young to be reviewing the material they are, or at least they aren't well versed enough. It's not a good look to criticize a long standing piece of lore in the series.
@@opac4515 Are you talking about Alex? You do know he's like thirty, right?

@@opac4515 I just mean that you saying he's young doesn't make sense lol.
@@serenitythesiren5031 You've dated yourself if you consider 30 old. Are you still in school? Lets hope you finish
The biggest question I have is why do you have to base everything in high school when the actors look mid 30s. Like at LEAST make it college or even better, just completely out of the education system, trying to figure out how to do what they love while also having to make money to support themselves. OR cast actual teens.
THANK U
It's probably set in high school because the gang are high schoolers in the original. It's hard casting teens, *especially* with the uncertainty that is an indie schedule, because teens change too rapidly. If you have to do reshoots as few as, maybe, two months later you can have a seriously different looking kid, which will screw things up. Not to mention filming around kids schedules is hard.
THIS
Casting actual teens brings up child labor law issues.
That should be common knowledge for people who complain about this stuff, but yes 18, 19, 20, 21 yr old actors are not hard to find.
And yes more shows should be set during college age.
@@kenzij If they realistically don’t have other casting options…..possible since this is an indie project…..And I praise them for getting this far with it. Literally leave ‘age’ gray. Do not set it in actual High School. Unless they really play into the joke/trope of being way too old to be playing teens, it just doesn’t sell itself. As an indie project they likely don’t have access and money for a huge casting pool. So give up that bit of the script that’s set in High School since you are doing your own thing anyway. College would at least be more convincing since that’s still young enough to play with some ‘school tropes’ but also allows you a huge range to play with in age since not everyone goes to college straight out of high school anyway and it’s more common to see people who look the range of 20 to 35 in the same classroom in college. So it’s more believable to play vaguely ‘young adult’ if you really want to deal with ‘school’ in some way.
This is the worst “casting adults as high schoolers” case I’ve ever seen! Daphne straight looks like she is in her early 40s
She's 26 lol
“Hello Mother!” she says to a woman five years older than her
@@eliroth9978 Omg 😲
it bothers me too, but it is understandable, even more because Daphne and Fred are the creators of the series as far as i know
what about fred?!?!?!
Scooby: Doesn’t talk
Velma: Only one who hasn’t changed
Shaggy: Zoinks
Daphne: Spoiled rich girl lost all her character development which means she’s back to being the damsel instead of staying the black belt/expert pilot
Freddie: Has basically become Archie from Riverdale
There's one Episode out I- You do realise character development happening in Episode One makes 0 sense.
@@xxdepressionxx5772 it’s not in a serialistic way it’s in a developmental way. In the original scooby doo show Daphne’s only character trait was being saved. In newer shows like what’s new scooby doo they’ve given her other traits. For example she became the designated driver and pilot as well as their muscle because of her skill in martial arts. In this teen drama they’ve gone back to her old role as the spoiled damsel

You kinda need more than a pilot to develop a character it took decades for Daphne to become a badass, do you really think it's gonna happen in 53 minutes?
Velma is anxious, nerdy, awkward and has zero sex appeal. That's a courageous casting choice and that's absolutely perfect. It's the Velma we needed.

I hope that wasn't a knock on Linda Cardellini ( since she obviously had a lot of sex appeal) She is the only reason I would watch the old Scooby-Doo movie.
@@bobtheduck Linda Cardellini is the cutest version of Velma. She is not a faithful representation of the original character in the animated series. But yeah, I agree she makes the movies more enjoyable!
@@bobtheduck Which movie? When people talk about Scooby-Doo movies the first one to pop into my head is always the one where Scrappy turns out to be the villain and he was stealing people's souls..... on a tropical island vacation.
I hope they watch this video and take your criticisms well because I totally agree with you. Yes, it's supposed to be a teen drama, but it's Scooby-Doo for crying out loud, it need a little bit more character. Like you said, it's giving Riverdale or Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I have a very important question that hopefully gets answered: does Scooby even talk??
Nope he doesn’t
He doesn't but considering the supernatural tone of this show I'm 100% sure that he will end up talking at some point though some magical shenanigans.
They said this show was heavily inspired by Riverdale and supernatural so that’s why it feels that way. I guess since it’s a realistic take, they chose not to make Scooby talk. Maybe whenever Shaggy is high on drugs Scooby will talk.
i sure hope so

Interesting side fact: So Velma saying "ancient Latin" had me googling if there was a Latin that wasn't in fact ancient and it turns out that there is a New Latin that developed in the 16th century for academic and scientific purposes. Never really considered that before and wanted to share.
oh I had now idea! thanks for the info 😊
Thought this was common knowledge tbh
Let's not forget about Pig Latin, too.
@@punusername3445 exactly
When people talk about "ancient Latin" it's usually in the context of middle ages religious Latin vs ancient roman Latin, which are actually very different. (which raises the question of why a book written about summoning *satanic demons* would be written in *ancient latin* but regardless)
For a low budget series this actually doesn't look half bad. I've always wanted a horror live action Scooby movie or show.
Those three people putting the ghost in their necklace we’re supposed to be a band called the HEX girls who are reoccurring protagonists in all kinds of Scooby-Doo projects. (My whole childhood was scooby doo)
I noticed that too!
Fun Fact: In Golden Girls the actresses were actually much younger than the characters they portrayed... so it's like the total opposite of what this "teen" shows do. 😅
It’s easier to do an age up with makeup then an age down. Like you can make a 40 year old a convincing 65, but it’s harder to sell a 35 year old as a 16 year old if they aren’t actually genetically baby faced and look young without much help.
Actors rarely play their actual age and instead ‘can play an age range’ and that is how casting calls usually go out ‘can convincingly play X-age’, but depending on how much ‘realism’ you go for, it needs to be a convincing casting. My friends brother was fairly short at 15 and played a convincing 12 year old for a brief flashback scene in a film once, but a year later with an unexpected growth spurt he could not have pulled it off. But could have been easily aged up with the right makeup job.
In case you’re wondering, that particular trope is called, “Playing Gertrude”.
This fun fact doesn't apply to all of the Golden Girls. Betty White and Bea Arthur actually were in their mid 60s at the beginning of the show.
However, Estelle Getty was aged up about 20 years. She was in her mid 60s also, but she played Bea Arthur's mother while being 1 year younger than Bea Arthur.
Rue McClanahan was also aged up. From early 50s to 60s (probably).
@@haljordan777 I thought Rue's character was supposed to be in her late 40s or something, because I remember an episode where she had a pregnancy scare before finding out it was menopause lol

Growing up, attempted murder was an acceptable way of saying "good morning.", actually saying "Good morning." would mean something was wrong.
Their dialogue together for some reason kept making me think about that Colonel Sanders thing Lifetime did with Mario Lopez, every interaction feels hilariously unnatural but at least with the Sanders thing, people at least seemed to be in on the joke.
I am impressed by the fact this is a fan-funded indie project even if the script needs work and the simple change from high school to college would have sold the actors better. Or leaning into the joke of looking too old in some way maybe.
THIS NEEDS TO BE EMPHASIZED. THIS IS A REALLY HIGH CALIBER PRODUCTION FOR IT'S SIZE
exactly!!! i get they wanted to stay true to source material and i adore all the references and throwbacks to the original shows/movies but i feel like it would have been better if they changed the fact they're in high school to college instead... though it would make it off to me if they were so idk i think my issue really is aside from the references and stuff the dialogue is just not interesting and if you don't get all the different references and whatnot like hex girls, the thing about Jonathan Jacabo (i think that's how it's spelled...), town name, etc... it's not a fully enjoyable experience i think the only reason i could get into it was cause i grew up on scooby doo and watched a LOT of the movies/shows it was one of the only cartoons i actively enjoyed and still do and i love pretty much every single one of the versions that come out (mystery incorporated the animated one being my all time favorite just cause i love the dark take on it and the whole story line throughout it) anyway my main issue is i don't like that it falls flat with no enjoyment aside from references i think leaning into the fact they're in a perpetual state of being a high school student could be fun and not just try to imitate a CW show.... for what it is and how it's being funded i'm happy with it and they did a great job and you can tell they care and know the lore or whatever you want to call it of the scooby doo franchise and i'm excited to see where it goes from here i just hope they can try and break out of their "let's make a CW show with a fraction of the budget" phase... aaaaaaaand i type too much...
Looks way better than a cw show, they make a good job with that aspects of the show.
@@mrsneeze903 they should just straight up have mortgages and divorce drama at this point some of them look old enough to be in their second marriage.
In almost every adaptation the gang is in high school. It would be strange to have them all meet eachother for the first time any differently. They nailed it.
I watched this recently, and honestly, I loved it. It's clearly a passion project, and I see no reason to hate on it. I wouldn't call this edgy as much as its more so like Zombie Island's type of creep. I get why they made the characters more deep, to bring us in, and I think it does work honestly. Velma rejects supernatural and is a complete nerd, perfect. Daphne has high expectations from her parents, but still a good heart, 100% what I would think of her. Shaggy, down in school, skipping class, gets picked on, and knows where to find "the stuff", I can definitely see that. Fred is honestly the hardest to work with, but he does have a sense of leadership and they might show him skilled in engineering, traps, etc. and I would figure he'd be the athletic kid, his story really caught me off guard but I can follow. I'm really excited for the new episodes, and I hope they will be just amazing. Great job for a fan film, I'm hooked. :D
Fr. Didn't even bother finish this guy's video. I get that maybe this is how he does his reviews, but leave Scooby-Doo, and specifically that pilot alone. It's a passion project and the real and true fans of the series will defend it. It does not deserve to be hated on. It did so many good things and I want to see more. It should be praised.
@@opac4515 I mainly skipped to his criticisms because I didn't care for commentary. Some of which, like the name "Coolsville" which he isn't fond of is very nitpicky + that is the name of the Scooby Doo gangs town (either that, or Crystal Cove). He also points out that they should be college students, not high school. Honestly, to me, it doesn't make a difference. Finally, its "being too gritty and serious" despite the fact this is clearly meant to be a more serious version of Scooby Doo, and in my personal opinion, especially for an indie passion project, is done really well. I get trying to put some comedy into it, which we may see in the future if they hire a comedy writer, but I would hope its part of the show as not taking focus off of the plot just to make a joke.
No offence to the creators (as they interpreted the show differently and developed the show themselves) but as someone who grew up on scooby doo mystery incorporated im not sure if this is for me. I know its in a completely different timeline so it doesnt have to be loyal to the original show and isn't canon but to sum up my opinion so far, it kinds of feels like the creators wanted to make their own show about mystery solving kids and just add scooby-doo and the rest of the gang. I cant really judge it though, I can see why they removed scooby-doo from the title and just called it mystery incorporated. Edit: Just wanted to clarify I have watched the actual episode and I can tell the people who made it care about the IP (through all the references and inclusion of things such as the hex girls) so I can assure you this isnt a quick attempt to make money but it just doesnt feel like scooby-doo, apart from that though im pretty sure the show will find an audience. Im not apart of that audience though, good luck to the creators
I agree, but as people like us who grew up watching stuff like Scooby doo, they ruin it every year they make a new one. I didn’t care for the new movie Scoob either. Too many adult jokes and it takes from the Scooby doo vibe. Also is it that difficult to come up with w new and different than what’s already made. It makes watching them feel retired, and old, and warn out when you keep rebooting the same thing but like 1 or 2 slight twist to change so it’s not copyrighted 😂

Honestly, you can tell that they at least did their research when making this. Coolsville is the cannon name of the town used in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo where Daphne actually was fabulously wealthy even amongst a town of financially stable families; who's kids really don't have to worry about much of anything (even going to school if the gang's early adventures are something to consider); Shaggy's dad actually was a police officer (thus why he was so rebelliously unstructured), and Velma's family members are all high-ranking, very well-respected scientists, doctors, and super successful business professionals in nearly any scientific fields that you can think of. Oddly enough, Fred's family was the only one who really didn't get much development in that series. Velma also ran her own book store in Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, likely meaning that they may intend to have her take over her mother's book show later on down the line. That likely means that at some point Daphne will express a desire to be a news anchor or television host, Fred will become her one man crew, and Shaggy and Scooby will likely become contraband security officers at their local airport. That is to say, later on towards the end of the series if they make it that far. It's pretty clear that this is going to be a series that's going off the rails, especially if those three girls are going to be the choices they've made for the Hex Girls, but the touch on the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo is a nice touch. And, replacing the 13 ghosts that appear in that series with 13 of the most iconic monsters and ghosts that the series ever produced is a smart choice on the writers' parts. Like I said, they've clearly done their research. It's just a matter of how corrupted they choose to go with all this research. If they keep it from going too far off the rails, then they may have something interesting. Especially since they have so much material to work with. We can only hope, but not have high expectations for. Also, if a character named Red Herring (yes, I'm very serious about that name) shows up in the series that's another call back to A Pup Named Scooby-Doo where Fred was always quick to blame the school bully for all the weird stuff that went on, only to be proven wrong almost every single time.
I gotta know - did you have to look any of this up, or did you know it all off the top of your head? If the latter, they should probably hire YOU for this show.
yeah. tbh this show heavily reminds me of the animated show with a dark take. Scooby-doo Mystery Incorporated. It's a great show. it takes place in coolsville and everything.
I liked the refences and respect for the source material even when changing it they did it in ways to make it seem new but not like they had no idea what scoob was before this, like they did this because they liked it and wanted to do a new take on it instead of just looking for anything they could use solely for a profit
Yo, I fuckin' *loved* A Pup Named Scooby-Doo!

I watched the first episode, it's awesome! I hope this show continues!
I agree with age problem and there were a few weird pieces of dialogue and some not so okay acting moments, but other than that the first episode kept me intrigued. This could be me self projecting a bit, but I believe Velma was written to be Autistic. She doesn't understand social norms and formalities often coming across as awkward. She gets overwhelmed being around a lot of people and tends to be very literal. I hope they lean more into this writing when it comes to her character. Also side note(but still just as important) SHAGGY IS SO FREAKING CUTE!!! From his messy hair to his brown puppy dog eyes to his cute little button nose. I freaking love this version of Shaggy❤😅❤

Really glad to find someone mentioning this in the comments!
I thought that would’ve been the name since ya now the mystery incorporated version is crystal cove but I believe it’s the small twist around from it being copyrighted.

I hate to point this out, but I'm a big fan who's watched a solid half of your videos, and I have a severe seizure disorder. The lights in the demon scene with Velma and Fred in the bookstore triggered one. it's really important to put light warnings for people like me with seizure disorders, because most people don't realize that seizures can and frequently do kill people, even if they quickly get to an ER. There's been a movement to putting light warnings, and it's been amazing for my seizures and anxiety watching content.
For reference, of all the videos of yours I've watched, this is the only one that needs that warning so far, and I'm asking if you can put that in the future, like graphic content warnings. It seems small, but the movement towards putting timestamps for lights like that has allowed me to much more safely enjoy content. it really doesn't pop up that frequently, so it shouldn't be much at all to start including warnings for that.
I'm definitely not saying go through every video or anything at all like that, just that if you could put one for this video for the demon scene and for future videos, it would be incredible.
Any lights that flicker or flash (especially when unexpectedly) can trigger seizures, for clarification on when this warning is necessary.
Thanks for all the laughs (I know how hard you work to do these for us). Please pet Charlie for me, and know you have Indigenous fans in your audience!
I came to the comment section to say the same thing. That flashing lights section was awful. The way Markipliers editors put in flashing light warnings is a great example of how to do it well, when it says "flashing lights incoming, coast is clear to look back when Mark says (insert sentence here)"
I think they added the warning in the video description. Probably due to feedback similar to yours.

@@w33bghoulsan79 That's what the new Saved By the Bell does. Casts 40-70 year olds to play background students asking out the main characters in an episode with a dance. It's jarring and hilarious.
I love the fact that fans made this show as a passion project, but there are plenty of ways to improve it, hopefully they hear different opinions and decide to better their show.
This is way better than that new Velma show
This mostly gives me big Riverdale season one vibes. I feel like the charm of Scooby Doo is partially because there was never murder or anything that dark, but still mysteries that did warrant solving. I agree it's cool of them to be doing it through Indie go go. The dialogue doesn't always land for sure, and Fred definitely looks old as fuck.
Have you LOOKED at Daphne? It doesn't help that the makeup somehow makes her look a bit older. I think if there was any person that looks even SLIGHTLY like a teenager in this show, it would be shaggy's actor (who is actually a really good singer. Look up chris villain)
Funny enough Fred and Daphne are the two youngest cast members
did you not watch the movies like zombie island? folks clearly were being killed before the gang stopped those cat people
There was actually quite a bit of dark stuff in some versions of Scooby Doo. The Mystery Incorporated animated show comes to mind, with conspiracies, cover-ups, and also the actual end of the word.
Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated comes to mind for dark scooby doo.
In their CZcams bio, they said this show is heavily inspired by Riverdale the O.G. Scooby Doo and Supernatural. That’s why the first few seconds feels so Riverdale-ish. My favorite part was seeing the Hex Girls perform their iconic song, so I’ll give it that.

A rocky start for an Indie project based off the Scooby Doo franchise:
1. The ghost/demon that was summoned by Fred and Velma was the "Miner 49'er"
2. The book that Velma's Mom had is an allusion to the chest from the spinoff, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo
3. The Hex Girls are well-known Scooby Doo characters from the 90's and early 2000s animated movies
4. The Hex Girls' mention of "12 more to go" is another reference to the spinoff, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo
5. The Red-eyed Demon near the start of the show is a reference the first mystery solved in the very first episode of the Scooby Doo franchise
6. Shaggy's Drug Deal scene...well...you get the joke
7. The "mysterious voice" that talked with Velma's Mom is a reference to another animated reboot, Mystery Inc.
Shaggy's dealer was also Flim-Flam.
@@komi___ A bit of an older reference, but at least they're trying to impress the fans!
A lot of references, so pretty cool on them to get those in there especially since it's from a vast array of Scooby-Doo history
Yeah Shaggy in this series is definitely an interpretation of the fan theory that Shaggy is a druggy/stoner. I think they already said he would be dealing with drug issues and even an eating disorder. So some darker issues with that idea of his character rather than the cartoon version.

This concept is actually good. Season based story with Stranger Things vibe. But with mysterious fantasy type, like how the older movies are, like not really fantasy but not really straight forward.

"Coolsville" was established to be the gang's home town back in the late 1980s, as the setting for the prequel series "A Pup Named Scooby Doo". It was a silly name then, for a silly show. But it stuck as the gang's canon home town, being the name used in future series as well as the live action movies.
If you want to, you might be able to blame it all on Scrappy Doo. Allegedly, the growing hatred towards Scrappy Doo is the main reason the people in charge decided to make a prequel series, which is why they made a series where the gang were kids, which is why they needed a name for the home town for the gang.

If there going to do a gritty scooby reboot, it needs to be more like stranger things than CW. Not that stranger things is perfect, but at least it manages to balance horror and fun moments we'll. Not to mention, the characters actually have a personality and the kids actually act like kids
Looking at it objectively, stranger things is better than something like riverdale but riverdale, along with similar teen dramas has managed to garner it's own audience that likes its flaws pretty much. I think mystery incorporated is directed toward the same audience

Haven’t seen it, but my first thought is they took away the one concept of scooby doo. I get making it dark and killing and all as well as giving back stories to characters, that’s great, but making the “supernatural” real just feels stupid. Scooby doo came to show that monsters are people and anything else doesn’t really exist because it’s all an invention. I don’t get why they should actually put real demons in it. It would’ve probably worked great if they had acted like it could be a demon, with the books and the weird things happening, but by the end of it they figured out it was all made up and it was mainly their fear getting in the way
Dont read my name....
Have you seen the Mystery Incorporated cartoon? Also, almost all Scooby Doo movies have "real" monsters.
@@daniellevadean1608 not the series, only the movies which were remakes anyways, so not what I was talking about. Based on the line “1 down, 12 to go,” it seems like they’re taking inspiration from The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, which had actual supernatural elements
@@cheyennetremolada7433 you are talking about the live action movies. there are animated scooby doo moves that are NOT remakes but originals that come out every year. at least two a year., some years more than that since 1998. thats not to count all the tv movies that came out in the early 90s and 80s. scooby and shaggy were deans at a school for girls. the students? daughters of universal monsters: dracula, frankenstein, and the wolf man. so yeah supernatural is real bro. you are just a fake fan. there are plenty to criticize here (casting, acting, writing) magic aint one of them.
Great video Alex! ❤ I did miss storytime alot tho🥺
I watched it and I feel like people need to give this some time, I mean it’s fanmade and a reimagined version of Scooby Doo, plus we’re only on episode 1, I just want the creators to take these criticisms and improve the show, I cannot wait to see how it progresses.
If we get them chalk-full of references, I would love to see Shaggy's sister Sugie from A Pup Named Scooby Doo to feature prominently in his life. The scariest part about the whole thing was the epilepsy jump scare, not the demon the flashing lights 😂😂😂
A warning that was coming would've been really nice.
I totally agree. The script being clunky can’t be excused by a low budget. If the script is no good, the show is no good. Simple as that
Coolsvile is an actual name they used in a Pup Named Schooby Doo back in the 80s
I listened to this video while projectile vomiting on Christmas..... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
This is why i loved the original live action movies from the 2000s. They kept it campy and fun, didnt try to make it dark or grown like so many kids shows/books are adapted to these days. Wish they kept the campy vibes more, would have made the 'cheaper' production look better too since it would seem intentional
its a lot more grown than you realize when you rewatch it and it was meant to be even more so
Well a better example of them doing campy stuff but make it serious is Scooby doo :incorporated the tv show on cartoon networks
There were a lot of semi deep moments in those movies I didn't catch as a kid I'd suggest you rewatch the movies
Official projects should be light hearted, I think it's ok for fan fiction to be alittle crazy. Think how awesome power/rangers was
well actually, a while back they DID do a more serious cartoon scooby doo series (goes by the same name as this new one, unfortunately) but it was executed amazingly and was actually fun to watch
i loved the cast, and the beginning but then they started with the whole demon thing...its been done so many times,i wanted the idea of people in costumes and solving the crime type deal. Plus the hex girls was such a great cameo adding and singing "put a spell on you" but they ruined it with them being actual witches or whatever when Thorn was just a wicken not a witch.

Agreed! I have high hopes for this show, they did go a bit grit heavy but I think that was just because it was the first episode and they only had so much time to establish the plot and character relations. Something that people don't often understand is why they used adult actors, they weren't originally almost on their 30s but the pilot took so long to get funding and the legal rights to use these characters that the actors just aged you know? Also a lot of high schoolers do look much older nowadays, most people at my old high school could pass for late 20s.
