    Now the problem is, full size service guns in the appendix position are kind of hard to LIVE WITH. That is sit down, drive, walk, bend over, etc... 8-10 hrs a day. On the other hand SIG 365, S&W J frame, or similar size guns are easy to live with! It is more about the barrel length than anything else. And I know this cause I've packed legally here in Texas for over 20 years. Usually a S&W 640 J frame or Glock 43 or Sig 365. All appendix carry.

    Practice lifting shirt and drawing pistol with one hand so you have a hand free to go hands on if you have to. Most encounters you will have to draw your weapon very close to your enemy in which case you need to push that enemy back and off you to get a complete draw on your gun and effectively eliminate the target.

    Also there is no reason you cannot draw and fire from retention or 1/4 hip position at that range. I mean 2 yards? And one can draw one handed while covering one's head with practice using one hand to uncover the weapon and draw. I suggest a dummy gun and an opponent with a fungo bat for practice.

    A good exercise but to justify using deadly force you would have to be facing an opposing deadly force threat. It doesn't seem the wisest move to be putting your hands up in your attackers face. If the attacker had a pistol already pointed at you, they could easily pull the trigger at least once ...maybe twice... shooting you before you would be able to draw and fire hitting them. If they had a knife they could lunge at you the moment they see you go to lift your shirt and likely stab you before you could shoot them. In that close a situation your chances of shooting them before they can get you might only be if their gun was in their hand pointing down by their side or still in their belt. If the pistol is in their hand pointed at you....you are likely to be shot first. Being that close with their gun pointed at you, your first and probably best move would be the element of surprise first action to move their gun away from you being the target, strike them in the face hard and then back up draw and shoot like Jerrat was teaching Tetania in another video.

    • @rosen9425
      @rosen9425 Před 2 lety

      It is not that clear-cut. Knowing the laws in your area, or the areas you frequent, is mandatory for taking appropriate actions should you need them. Further on, you obviously don't seek hand-to-hand combat with anyone posting any sort of weapon towards you. Face smacking is for those situations where someone is getting in your face trying to start something or trying to rob you. That gives you a second to act - if you have enough practice and muscle memory down. Being aware of your environment and surroundings should mean that you won't find yourself in such situations in the first place.

    • @deafsmith1006
      @deafsmith1006 Před 3 lety

      Not all punches to the face will bring a reaction. Especially if you do not have the upper body strength (as some of those present in the film do not have that kind of muscle.) Modify and adapt what you learn here. If you are strong and fast... yea cold cock them.

    Training for a two handed draw is not smart. You are relying on having both hands free during an attack that is likely up close and personal. Train for a one handed draw. The other hand is likely protecting a loved one or defending against a knife or other weapon. A two handed draw assumes you will always have time and distance on your side.

    • @rosen9425
      @rosen9425 Před 2 lety

      What are you going to do with your arm against a knife or a gun? That is not a position to be in, in the first place. A gun is a range-extending force multiplier, it is built to be used at a certain distance because it means you have range at your advantage. Getting distance from a threat is always a priority, then engaging or continuing to gain distance whichever is the best solution in a given situation. Also holding people around while flailing a gun is a sure way to not get anything done while someone is possibly shooting at you, or towards you.
      With practice, you can get your two-handed grip down to a mere second, bullets flying in a second and a half. It's so fast it's ridiculous. The first to draw is the most likely winner.
