CZcams's algorithm has been guiding me to your videos. Oh what a beautiful instrument and tone! Applause for a great rendition! The chance to hear such a beautiful scheidt is rare. I want to thank Algorithm for introducing me to you.
Thrilling!! Thank you for this Philip! Another wonderful performance, beautifully presented. This was 14 minutes of heaven. It is always such a joy to hear you play! 😊
Twelve times a joy to hear you playing these Scheidt variations. As I tried to master No. 9 as one of the first pieces when starting to learn organ about three years ago I am glad to hear all variations in such high quality. Your registrations with increasing tension over all keep the listener on his tiptoes. Great!
WOW, I take that as a huge compliment. So great that you have begun organ playing and these variations actually spread over a quite large scale, so you both get a slow and fast movements. Please say, if you have some organ works you would like to have me take a closer look at. Merry Christmas and keep safe out there!
@@philipaggesen Learning to play organ is quite hard aged above 50 and beside a full time job. I am just a hobbyist and took a few lessons until the pandemic led to a cutoff. I need weeks to learn a new piece. But the learning curve gets more steep from month to month. I think I will have a look at the other variations, too. I am just struggling with #11 of the Eleven Choral Preludes by Brahms. So I would be interested in your interpretation of this. But just decide by yourself as there a quite a few recordings of this here on YT. And I also have a live recording of all the eleven from the Marcussen & Søn organ in Hjørring ;-)
Very nice work. Your playing sounds the whole time very singing and that is so important for this music to sound appropriate. The Quintadena in Versus 5 is breathtaking in my opinion.
A very nice interpretation of this Scheidt piece, with excellent use of the colours of the big M. What sheet music edition did you use? Since indications like 'Allegro', 'Andante' etc. were not in use yet by Scheidt and contemporaries, so I think the publisher added them.
@@philipaggesen Good old Peters ;). On IMSLP the complete organ works of Scheidt are available on a fine edition by Ugrino Verlag, with the original indications etc. Could be interesting for you.

But also a huge thank you to you for leaving such a nice comment. I have another Scheidt piece going live next week. Hopefully you will like it!

Hi Ralph, thanks!! The edition is C.F. Peters, n.d.(ca.1928) so I think you're right. It must be from the editor!

Oh, I didn't know. I just found the score as a separate file. I'll try taking a look in the future if I want to play some more Scheidt!
