How to program VW or Audi Key with only 1 key

- Usually you need two keys to program a Remote on any Audi TT A3 A4 a5 a6 or Volkswagen Jetta Passat Golf Rabbit or GTI This works MOST of the time to program your remote keyless entry Sometimes if your battery dies in the remote or in the car the key loses its memory and needs to be reprogrammed I also have a video on how to do it if you have 2 keys and remotes

Worked after my car was in the shop for three months and got deprogrammed. They quoted me $200 at the Audi dealer and $160 at the locksmith. Glad I looked this up first! Fixed it in about 5 seconds and it hasn’t been working for months.

Thank you, you just saved me a ton of money and heartache as I was told by the dealer actually the closest dealer is 100km + away so its a local garage that works on VW cars here in south east Ontario Canada $300. I needed to be with my young Autistic son who is 5 hours away in a hospital with 2 brain tumors, he was rushed there from the local hospital 2 nights ago and when the car would not start it was the worst feeling I could feel for something like this to happen. Your video was the only one I could find that explained it so basic but come across perfect. Thank you, and for the people who want to put a negative on my post keep it to yourself I am with my son and that's all that matters.
Your young son was rushed to Hospital, thats sad, but your first instinct when your car didnt start, was not to call a cab, uber, car rental, friend, neighbour, family, it was to go to CZcams and see if you could find a cheap hack that works. Priceless, hope your son is ok.
@@gordonalmadi5871right, cause a 5 hour uber is just normal, and it totally won't take longer to reprogram a key than to rent a whole car. Not to mention the amount of money it would cost vs a 1 minute video that fixed his issue. Absolute smooth brain reasoning, have some fuckin respect for others

Hi did that trick worked for your car?
If you have a wireless keyfob just do the same thing (except for putting the key in the key slot because you dont have a slot for that of course). Just get in the car, push the push button start until the radio comes on basically (it should also say that there is no key fob detected at this point), and then do the same thing he does locking the car from the inside and then holding the lock button on your key fob for a few seconds until the key fob flashes red. Violaaaa. Programmed. Thanks man saved me $220 bucks

Hi Dear.. where and how did you get the new key?I bought the new key from china, the cut is perfect, however there is notifiication on dashboard say "Key Not Found" which I suppose the chip/transponder need to be programmed by following the steps in this vids.

@@Impervium1090 Hi,, indeed the transponder need to be programmed. I met my friend who has AUTEL IM508 to help me out. It took 15 minutes to program it, then nww key is working perfectly

tried for a long time to get my second key to work. i used the suggested method ,but like another person commented it worked in a different way and i cannot remember what i did . The thing is that he put me on the right track and my 2008 audi a3 2tdi has a working second key.(6-09-2023)🤩

Hold the lock button ON THE KEY fob. On the key fob. I got lost when the video panned away. Thank you for this video though. Mine was fixed by using the manual key hole in the driver's door (different video). You turn it clockwise then anti-clockwise about six times. That reset it for me.
Have a 2004 Audi A4. Same thing, battery died and fob stopped working after car battery replaced. Followed advice here - my Audi doesn't have a light on its fob nor does it seem to have 2 stages before engine turns on. So I turned it to the stage just before vehicle turns on while following advice. It worked!! Key Fob now working normal. Thanks, liked and subscribed!

I think it needs to be already programmed to the car. Only re-syncs it to the car
It does. You need to map it digitally before you can finish it. This is just last step solution.
Won’t work unless you already have the chip remote programmed via obd.
This is for when you for example change battery or the key dies, then this is very helpful to re-sync the key to the car

I just gave you a lock after programming my key. I thought it had a dead battery and was afraid to mess with it but it just wasn't programmed. Now I want to buy an after market key and get it cut and program it but I'm told by everyone that it wont work.

I replace batteries all the time on our Audi A3's and never have to re-sync the unlock feature on the key fobs. This procedure may work if you procure a replacement Audi or VW switchblade key, but only to unlock the vehicle. If after 2001and equipped with an immobilizer, the key may unlock the car but you will not be able to start it without the proper reprogramming of the immobilizer function to the car's ECU.
I see you helped a lot of people. What do I do when this did not work? :-/

That did the trick for my Audi A8 D3 (2002-2009) but with the key step done a bit different. You turn the key once to activate the electrics and then push the lock button on the key!

This did not work for me. But I did read in the manual how to sync my key to the car... You could probably do the same.

This would not work with my 2012 passat, I got the red blinking light and everything but it would not program correctly

If you have a new fob this method may not work. Then you just pop apart the fobs and pull out the circuit boards. You place the old circuit board in the place of the new one. It worked for me.

I have a A3 2005 2.0 tdi tried several times and different ways I saw in CZcams...nothing works...should I desconnect the car battery? Any tips? Either way u have my thumbs up...cool of u sharing...

This also works to relearn your key to open and close the windows remotely, if you car was equipped with that feature. If you aren't sure, press and hold unlock from a few feet away, all windows should lower as long as you hold the button. same goes if you press and hold lock, all windows should roll up as long as you hold the button.
The all windows up / down via remote is part of convenience functions.
My OEM '09 Tiguan did not do this but dealer was able to program vehicle for this. Basically, if you have the "convenience" menu on dash, this should be option. My year of VW does not have "Convenience" menu but all features are still programmable if you have the know-how.
I would assume you could do this yourself with Ross-Tech VCDS, etc.

Worked on a4 b7 2006 ,i didnt even lock car from the inside,i just put the key in ingnition while holding lock button for 5 secound,and it worked! :D
