How lucky am I to be born as a Sinhala Buddhist to learn and understand these concepts? Meditation is mandatory to truly see this. Please learn the teaching of my Lord Buddha and put it into practice. You will see the truth. There are limits to how this can be explained in English. There are limitations that explain this in Sinhala. That is why Pali and Sankrit come. But there are also limitations. That is why we should meditate and understand practically.🙏🙏🙏

Does the interviewer know how to address the clergy properly? It could be a Buddhist monk, a Christian priest, a Hindu priest or an Islamic priest, etc. but they are a different category in our society and we never address them by their first names. She simply said “Welcome Mahinda” She could have appropriately said “Welcome venerable”. Little learning is very dangerous!
Also when she introduced herself she said “ My name is Dr. Hannah”. Dr. isn’t a part of her name. She herself is a good example of the ‘Materialism’. Never knew such people exist in this world! Be a sophisticated person Hannah although you cannot become a wise person. Having a PhD is by no means a sign of wisdom.
Learn to address people with respect Hannah, although you had never learnt that before.

Venerable Bhante or Venerable Thero is acceptable.
Not to say that you will be punished in some sort of primitive way don’t worry. Buddhism teaches real peace and compassion.
