Here's the audio from a believed-lost TV show (4th May 1968) supplemented by some audience perspective photos from the Royal Albert Hall show on 1st May 1968. The Duane Eddy portion of the same show is to be found elsewhere on this site.
Thank you! Changed music forever! This was the fuse for me! BOOM!
Rare version, thanks.
Thanks for posting. I saw the show and this brought back some memories. It was the first time I saw Bill and the Comets and I was very impressed. Great live show and it was a pity nobody filmed it (or released it if they did). There is a live album of a show in Sweden from the same year, which contains the same material, including the excellent "Johnny B Goode" on which Nick Nastus sanfg lead with a great gravelly voice! The Wild Angels were great too. Duane Eddy was hassled a little by the Teds until he performed the material they wanted to hear. There was also a band that was a little too "Mod" for the rockers in the audience and they received a lot of boos (some poor go-go dancer was also nearly dragged off stage - as was the compere, Rick Dane, when he tried to close the show while the audience were yelling for more).
Wow! What a great song! You can really hear Haley pounding his guitar along with the Bass man in the background.
Haley may not have looked like much but he his band were true Rock and Roll professional's.
Bill Haleys guitar sounds great. Love the live performances for this reason. He just fills that rhythm sector so well.
so great im a fan 40 years first time i hear this recording and top pics of the king too more more
Great slide show of a legendary show! The audio is not from the Albert Hall concert though... Where is the audio from?
