i followed all the steps inn the developer setting oem unlocking switched on and usb debugging as well and when I turn off the phone and press the volume down and power button and I scroll to start oem says locked at the bottom next to transfer mode usb connected

For well over six months now since first watching this video, my motog6 play is still locked to sprint/buzzmobile. Problem is, after carefully completing all the steps you suggest in this video, each time I go on the motorola website site, there is always a message that says, " sorry, the morola website is currently unavailable." In this case, what will you advise I do next?
Try accessing the site on your phone or tablet instead of a PC then once u get the unlock code use the PC to unlock the bootloader

Thanks for this i got the powe shell instead of command prompt, so it dosent work with power shell , so had to replace the power shell followimg up another guide on registry level, after that, ran into an error where the boot unlock code mail was not sent , after pasting the cmd code, but refreshed and tried it again and it worked like a charm!!! , pixel experience here i come.
(bootloader) INVALID BOOT STATE - Does anyone had this issue?
At first I was unlocked bootloader, then I was install twrp, and magisk (i think wrong version) then my bootloader were locked again as it is already was. Now I can't unlock bootloader and can't install os because it's says to me Your device has failed verification and may not work properly and haven't os on my moto. It is motorola g(6) XT1925-5. Please can anyone help me?!
After putting "fastboot oem get_unlock_data" it just says "Waiting for any device."
First, let me say I really like your video's. Great Job. Trying to help a novice requires you doing it just like you do, step by step-on screen, nothing skipped. Thanks for that. When I put the phone in Fast boot, and in the cmd box enter in the cmd line "fastboot oem get_unlock_data" it returns; "waiting for any device" Windows 10 does not seem to recognize my phone in fastboot. When I check devise manager under-Other devices I do have an orange triangle and it says "Fastboot ali S". Reading thru your comments it may be a driver issue. Back in Windows devise manager I check for updated drivers and it says the best driver is already installed. Any Help?

When I start it - it says "TracFone" so I assume it has a special config for TracFone. I like this model, and I think your instructions to root the phone are something I could follow. So, what do you think about my chances of success if I purchase Moto g6 unlocked version. I assume that would get rid of any proprietary junk built into the OS. Your opinion? @@alansnider1065 to be honest these motorola phones are pragmatic when it comes to rooting 1 slight mistake and your device is bricked imei number null resulting in not receiving phone calls , so u got to be extra carefull if your running android 8.0 on your g6 then u shouldnt have a problem following my root tutorials but if your running android 9.0 pie then theres a chance u will wipe the imei and its difficult to get it back if u didnt backup the efs in twrp first,and 1 last thing the bootloader cant be unlocked problem could be a false report i have faced tgat same message plenty of times but after several attempts it then said it can be unlocked u just gotta keep trying reboot your pc and try again or try from another pc but dont give up GOOD LUCK BRO👍

Professor Harvey No, when they put unlocked that means that the phone cam be used for any carrier instead of it being locked to Verizon or another carrier.

If you got it from a carrier is the most likely reason. AT&T, Verizon, etc don't like bootloader unlocking.

Try going to device manager look to see if u have a yellow triangle or question mark if yes rite click on it and choose update drivers
Are you refering to the MotorolaDeviceManager software on the PC? If so, when I try and run it, it checks for new device software and then tells me current version N/A. On the device I cannot find a device app.
No I'm not alking use the windows device manager right click on start menu in the bottom left corner of the home screen on your Windows PC then select device manager whilst your phone is connected to pc ,then look for a yellow triangle with a question mark or something similar that indicates that there's a problem with the pc recognising your phone ,then select update drivers
Android Dr, I thank you for your time. I had a look at Device Manager, the computer doesn't see the phone let alone recognise what it is. When I plug in the phone, there was no changes to Device Manager. I am using a usb cable that I know is a data cable. Do you think it is best to go back to Android ver 8 and if so, how do I go about doing that? From what I am reading, ver 9 seems to be problematic.
To be honest just stay on version 9 these Motorola phones are not to be played with when it comes to downgrading u can easily brick the device or wipe the IMEI number resulting in not receiving any calls

It's a false message it happens to me too u have to keep trying it I remember it happening to me on most of my Motorola devices sometimes rebooting your pc and trying again helps to resolve this problem

I got my phone to the "START" in "bootmode" or whatever it's called and then plugged my phone up with the USB to my computer and then did exactly the same thing you did. I don't know if it's recognizing my phone correctly on the account or what's going on. I entered in my IMEI and added my phone to my Google account that I signed into. What else to I have to "do" on my phone besides merely plugging it into the computer? Also, I'll have to figure this out tomorrow. I have to go hit the casino but I am very thankful for the lightning fast response from you and I don't mean any disrespect in my tone either, I just seriously don't know what you're talking about. You might as well be speaking Chinese to me if you don't quite literally write out an "Idiot's Guide to Unlocking Bootloader." It's been so long since making the video but I did remember facing that same problem ,I think I solved it by logging into the Motorola site then entering the code on the website using another device because when I tried it using my pc it said my device didn't qualify for the bootloader to be unlocked,also I've had the same problem on other Motorola devices and rebooting my pc several times solved it u just have to keep trying ,but I can tell you for a fact it's a false message you can indeed unlock your device if you have been emailed the unlock code

And yeah, I know, your video is from 2018 lol... but my Dad just bought me this phone for my birthday though. It's too late to go to the casino tonight afterall so I suppose I can try it again. So you said just keep rebooting my computer and trying again or keep rebooting my phone and trying again? Also, didn't you use a laptop to do this? I'm confused as to what I'm supposed to do with my phone other than turning it off, then simultaneously pressing the volume button and start button to kick it into boot mode, and then scrolling down to "start," then plugging it into the computer when you prompted me to do so in the video. Is there something that I'm missing? So, I just have to keep trying it and trying it until it works? I feel like I'm getting the same codes too every time. That message means that the bootloader was unlocked successful so it should boot up

Here’s how to replace PowerShell with CMD:
Open Registry Editor, simply by searching “regedit” on Cortana/Search or via Run (Win + R)
On the address bar in the Registry Editor, paste “Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell” and hit enter
From the sidebar, find “cmd” and right-click, then select Permissions
From the permissions dialog, hit Advanced
Hit the Change button next to the Owner field on the top of the Advanced dialog
In the input field, enter your username - this can also be the email address for your Microsoft Account. Hit enter after typing in your username/email
Back in the Permissions window, select Administrators from the top section and allow Full Control by checking the Allow check box on the dialog, then apply the changes and close the window
Now, delete the DWORD “HideBasedOnVelocityId” for CMD from the Registry Editor
You may need to restart the File Explorer from the task manager to see the changes in action.

The bad key message is just part of the bootloader being unlocked if u want to remove the warning message check out my video to remove it on my channel

Boot the phone normally when it boots up connect it to pc then open device manager on the pc tell me do u see a yellow triangle?

It should qualify sometimes it will say that just close down the Motorola website the open it up again & repeat the process it happens to me sometimes I just keep trying until it says it can be unlocked then I get the email code

@@jimhouston6361 it shouldn't matter I really remember having this same issue like I said before I was almost gonna give up then it finally let me unlock the bootloader ,if I remember at the time lots of other people had the issue too and some said it was the actual Motorola site that was giving false error notifications saying that the bootloader can't be unlocked when in fact it can be unlocked
