    I've owned my Benelli M4 Tactical for several years now and have made a number of modifications to it, but never added this bolt release pad. Frankly, I thought its installation would be WAY more difficult than I've learned it actually is after viewing your terrific instructional video! I just placed an order with GG&G for one!

    Excellent video. Very clear and nicely detailed instructions. Great that you also included information on what issues to avoid and how to correct them if necessary. Great recommendation on installing the specified upgrade features. Excellent microphone volume (too many other CZcams videos have very low volume making it difficult, if not impossible, to hear the individual discuss his topic) and excellent video filming. Overall a superior and highly informative video. Great job!

    Also, you'll notice that it's easy to mar up your receiver with a punch while removing the retaining pin for the stock bolt release handle. You can use blue masking tape over the hole or around the hole to protect the receiver prior to punching out the pin... more layers if you are more concerned. This is for those who actually want to protect their gun from useless damage during gun work.

    Note: on a Benelli M3, the GG&G bolt release will hit the forend when it is in pump action mode in the out of battery position. You will need to grind a milimeter off the end in order to prevent the forend from being caught under the bolt release.

    It suddenly occurred to me after watching this video that Mr. Beaver installed the new extended magazine tube without actually extending the magazine! In order for the extended magazine tube to work, he would have had to remove the spring retaining nut then re-install it on the mag tube extension. This is what increases the mag capacity to seven rounds.

    • @BattleBeaver
      @BattleBeaver  Před 7 lety +2

      You are correct! But up here in Canada, we are limited to 5 rounds in a semi-auto shotgun, and removing the spring retaining nut would be illegal up here (stupid, I know, but those are the laws we deal with up here). "Then why install the new tube?" I hear you asking.... :) Well, because I didn't like the "look" of the stock tube that had the "ribs".

    • @js3217
      @js3217 Před 7 lety +1

    • @blazkowicz9455
      @blazkowicz9455 Před 4 lety

      Can’t you have 5 rounds of the maximum length shot shell with semi auto shotguns? I thought with the extension tube it would allow five 3 inch shells. Of course yes you would end up having more than five 2 3/4 but I thought they based it off the max length of shell for that shotgun.
      But someone do correct me if I am wrong

    What about a longer tube spring? I replaced the whole mag tube with a SS one and it required a new spring.
    But very well done and informative video. Now that I see how easy the bolt release is to install I’m definitely going to buy one.
    I used to be very timid when it came to modifying my guns. But after swapping some triggers, springs or whatever I have become much more comfortable.
    One time it took me 2 full days with a hand file and a rubber mallet to get a Zenitco handguard and gas tube cover installed on my VEPR. Well it took that long to insure it was as snug as a bug in a rug and wasn’t going to walk out on me. It said “Some modifications may be required” my ass! It should have said hand fitting IS required. Whatever I’m happy with it now.
    Again good video.

    • @BattleBeaver
      @BattleBeaver  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for watching! Up here in Canuckistan (Canada), we can only have 5 rounds in a semi-auto rifle (or shotgun). I didn't like the "look" of the stock mag tube extension, I replaced it simply for aesthetics, so the stock spring stayed in place.

    Just got my new charging handle and tac pad from GG&G and thanks to your vid I installed it perfectly. One question though: is the tav pad supposed to stick out slightly from the gun?

    • @XTrooper3936
      @XTrooper3936 Před 8 lety +5

      +SimplyKomplicated If you think about it, the pad must be away from the frame for it to move when you press on it. If it were tight to the frame, there would be no room for it to move inward, and it wouldn't be able to release your bolt.

    It seems that you've shot your M4 for many many rounds. I have a question with my M4 in terms of cosmetic damages inside rail, perhaps we can chat via pm?
    Thanks

    • @nz4165
      @nz4165 Před 10 lety

      Since you had a dental mirror for inspection, I was wondering if you were able to look up the rails on the receiver where the bolt goes. The question that I have is if you've seen any degradation with regards to normal wear and tare.
      The reason I'm asking this question is I've brought a brand new benelli m4, and after my first 100 rounds I noticed a streak mark on the inside of the rail. I've contacted the warranty and they said send it in, however the shipping alone would cost me few hundred dollars, therefore, I'm hesitant on doing so.
      If the wear is normal, then I probably don't need to send it in for service.
      Thanks

    • @BattleBeaver
      @BattleBeaver  Před 10 lety

      Ning Zhang I just had a look, there is some normal wear on mine too. I can't be positive, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. If it's not affecting the shotgun, ie: it's still feeding and cycling fine, I wouldn't worry.

    • @nz4165
      @nz4165 Před 10 lety

      I was initially worried since it's brand new, and it was having some cycling problems, but I assume this is part of the breaking in stage. I'll put more grease the next time I go out and hopefully I won't have much failure to eject/feed problems.
      Thanks for your help.

    If you live in a free and Constitutional state what is the maximum number of shells you can put into the Benelli M-4? Without installing some rediculous, long mag tube that competitive shooters use. Just a tube that is as long as the barrel.

    • @BattleBeaver
      @BattleBeaver  Před 5 lety +1

      Max capacity is 7 rounds I think. Up here in Canada though, we're limited to 5 rounds.

    • @whomagoose6897
      @whomagoose6897 Před 5 lety

      @@BattleBeaver : Are ghost loads part of the "5 rounds" only? The ghost load is on the top of the lifter so it is not in the magazine tube.
      A similar government mandate is in the USA. Since the shotgun is imported it must be in what the ATF calls a sporting shotgun. Limited to five rounds. There is a list of parts that must be made in the USA to get a longer mag tube and the collapsible stock. The list of parts is called 922R list. The GG&G change to oversize bolt handle is one part you can change to a American made part. To allow for an imported original Benelli part. To get a Benelli collapsible stock you need two American made parts. Manufacturers know if the silliness of the ATF so all American made Benelli M-4 parts have the words "Made in the USA" prominently displayed so the ATF slugs can easily take notice.
      If all the required parts are exchanged an already expensive shotgun, $1800, becomes about $2600 per shotgun. Best thing is you can install all the parts over a long time. A pay as you go thing.
      Another example of rediculous government actions that only harasses the lawful citizenry.

      @@stevencoughler6448 unless the receiver is steel I actually like the polymer better. If it ever got banged or thrashed around aluminum on aluminum would more likely stress and crack the receiver. Then again Benelli's are very resilient, high quality and tested.
