  • General description of how bandsaw blade tension works and how to measure or set it on a machine using a tension gauge. Today we are working with a Forrest Model 204 vertical bandsaw. This is a high-speed machine (3,000 feet/min) ideal for cutting wood, plastic, foam, and insulation.
    This machine is tensioned in terms of pounds per square Inch (PSI). The target blade tension varies depending on what you are cutting.

    Nice informative video, thanks. I just looked it up, The Starrett saw blade gauge is $400+, well above my price range but would be a nice thing to have. Im glad you made this video.

    I was waiting for the info about stretch in thousands equal psi. I need 30,000 psi, how many thousands of stretch is that?

    Buy the best tool you can afford. But a band saw tension gaudge is not a nessary tool to own.
