- today we'll be pushing our sawmill to the limit! Cutting a 16ft long log thats 36 inches in diameter! "ruby (name of the sawmill)" she can only do 28 inches in diameter. But today we'll be putting her to the test for a much more bigger log.

I have 2 Stihls and they both start on the first pull; I just have to make 4-5 practice pulls first.
Haha forgot to put the posts up. I’ve done that a couple of times myself.
What blades do you use?
We get our blades from smith sawmill service. What we are using to cut the white oak is a turbo 7.
All we mill is Cedar and you wouldn't think there would be a lot of metal in cedar logs but we hit stuff all the time and we don't take residential logs either. Bullets, nails, screws, fence wire and even stranded electrical wire. Glad we use Timberwolf cobalt blades from Sulfolk Machinery because they just plow right though it all and keep on cutting.
@@meehd01 Thanks for the comment. Are Timberwolf cobalt blades tipped with cobalt so when you hit metal it won’t damage them as bad
@@firewaterfarmsawmill yes they are and they last a lot longer. I can use the same blade for 1-2 weeks without sharpening. They usually end up wearing out and cracking. I have been averaging 50-75 hours of use on a blade. Part of it is the blades and part of it is I use synthetic transmission fluid in my drippers. I have 3 Cook lube drippers, two on the inside of the blade and one on the outside of the blade. They never rust and are as smooth as glass.
@@meehd01 how much for one of those blades?
