Thank you so much for taking the time to fix this. I was raised in South America were we try to fix everything first! I have also owned this for at least 5 years and hope to have it for 5 more years thanks to this fix 🙌🏽
I have a Bissell Crosswave pet pro 2306a which no longer sprayed any clean solution. After taking the whole thing apart, I found your video and tried this. It worked! Thank you so much!
So helpful! I also heated a small nail to create a hole through the trigger. I didn’t have wire cutters or scissors sharp enough to cut a nail. I ended up adding two flower pins that were easily bendable. When I assembled It back, the trigger actually got stuck in permanent “steam” mode, which is actually way better since I always had the trigger pulled anyways.
I simply drilled a hole through the trigger and put a cut down Steel Pin in thru that hole to replace the broken plastic tips. Works perfectly... Plus you can get replacement triggers online from sellers that make new triggers with a 3D printer and if you already have a 3D Printer there is also a setup you can download to make your own replacement trigger.
Thanks for the video. Another option is to use a section of a small nail or a pop rivet stem. Drill a hole in the handle just slightly inside of the original location. The hole should be small enough for the nail or stem to just fit through. Cut the nail or stem to the length so the trigger fits in the assembled handle.
This is exactly what I needed when the handle broke and really didn't want to have to find a new one. I ended up drilling a hole in the plastic then shortening a small nail with wire cutters. Hardest part was getting it back together and keeping the handle aligned but it worked! Thank you thank you thank you.
I paid $19.99 for mine and it was probably an error, or they were trying to get rid of extra inventory at my local Publix. I feel so lucky I got it so cheap!
Thanks so much for this video! I had the same problem with my mop and was really upset. I couldn't hammer a hole that was deep enough to fit a screw and I didn't have a drill so I ended up heating up a nail over a flame and it went right through the plastic. Cut the end of the nail so it would fit in place and now it's back to normal :)
Thank you! Great tip and video. This fixed my steamboost! My only suggestion for anyone reading this, use a small drill bit and drill to make the hole in the trigger. I tried the hammer and nail but it is tough trying to keep the nail straight. I had a picture repair kit too, but small screws would probably do the trick. Either way, this worked great. Shame on Swiffer for using plastic parts that inevitably are going to break.
Wow this little hack definitely worked! You helped save me some money! The only tweaks I made was using a 1/16 drill bit to make the small hole. I also used very tiny nails, and it worked like a dream! Thanks so much!
Thank-you just assembled top part will try tomorrow hopefully it wks and yes those little plastic arms on lever were way too fragile to last - again kudos to you for figuring out what cld be used very very helpful! 😊
Thank you for just getting to the point without unnecessary chatter. I viewed others just to see other opinions and I feel your video was the best. You went right to the point , fixed it and didn't waste my time! Great job!
Thanks. This tip saved my mop. I drilled a hole, used a longer nail, cut the head and bent it inwards. I also used double-sided tape to keep bent nail it in place.
OMG!!! This video was very helpful. My husband and I were able to fix our steamer. We had the exact same issue with the trigger after a few years of use. Thanks to you we get to get more use out of this steamer, hopefully for another few more years.. 😂 Thank you.
Thank you !! My swiffer steam mop trigger just broke last month. I absolutely love mines. I’m going to try your method to see if I can fix the trigger.
My cousin used a finishing nail after drilling hole through that place where the flimsy plastic once was and now its working great...wish i would have seen this video three steam mops ago.
Thanks for the video! This happened to my mom's, and we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. She contacted Bissell support, and they were no help at all. I was able to fix it. Drilled a small hole and used a nail. Hardest part was getting the handle apart.
A great video and thank you so much, now I can swift disposable pads again. It worked great, remember to place end of black thing under trigger handle when putting back together and watch the spring on the video. I captured a few pictures to follow and look fixing my swifter, and it works great.
So so so helpful. Saved us $50! I threw out the last one for the same problem. Why doesn't Bissell replace the plastic trigger with a metal one? Hint: Manufactured obsolescence. Nice.
Also in case you don’t want to do this and have access to a 3D printer you can print a brand new trigger. I just found out today I could do that so best of luck!
Fantastic fix for our broken steam mop! Worked like a charm. Hardest part was getting the handle apart! Really appreciate your video. Now they’ve discontinued the whole line. Have you found anything better?
I love the mop but after 2 of them broke the same way I was just going to throw them away.. thankfully I found this video! I haven’t found anything better btw.
Mine is the same model. Came here to see about fixing water leak (only used with distilled water) Interesting fix on the trigger. After mine failed I I insert a 3/8" nut where the two handle tubes meet every time I want to use it. Since than the hand grip cracked where it is angled I don't know if this trigger fix will work.
Thank you i have gone through 3 of them because a family member pressed the trigger too hard and broke like you said those two flimsy pieces of plastic...back in the day before we gave away our american companies to china who somehow we owe them money on the crap metal and recycled plastic disposable cars household items machines and appliances...?
this WAS the best mop on the market, i hate they dont make these anymore because bissell sued swiffer. all the other mops made by bissell are AWFUL, nondisposable cloth rags with a super junky attachment method for it. the steam NEVER penetrates past their cloth and they design it such a way it is literally impossible to substitute it with anything practical.
Thank you so much for taking the time to fix this. I was raised in South America were we try to fix everything first! I have also owned this for at least 5 years and hope to have it for 5 more years thanks to this fix 🙌🏽
Thank you so much. I was about to throw mine out. Your fix worked like a charm. They don't sell anything like this anymore.

It worked!! Thank you so much! Buying a new one was like 260$!? You’re a lifesaver!
Mine had been broken for awhile saw this video and it worked so awesome thank you 😊 can’t believe I got my steamer back
Super job! Excellent analysis and great repair. Saved me $100 for new one. Thank you.
