    I'm in the US and drive a 335is. The DCT is a beast of a transmission. When going through the gears the DCT really makes the car sound 10 years newer with how fast it switches. Especially if the car is modified. They make a billet DCT pan with larger cooling fins but I don't have any experience with them to say if they are good or not. I can't wait to see what you think of the DCT. Love the videos. Thanks for the work y'all put in for the community.

      I have seen the larger pans and they seem very popular for the M cars. Im hoping that with my massive transmission cooler, i dont get any temp issues with the DCT. Kinda interested to see if we can monitor DCT temps from the JB4.

    Great stuff as always! I've been wanting to do the Work of installing the new "Go Fast Parts" I finally received from a couple vendors. But we've been have a record shattering heat wave here this week and I just can't take the heat! Being you guys are in Aussie land you would probably laugh at me and my aversion to these temps. But I'm from Canada and I'm not able to take 38C during the day in a stuffy garage. No matter how much I want to put these parts on and get on with the "Vroom Vroom" and the "Beep Beep" etc LOL. I just can't take it. The record broken yesterday was last set in 1896 (during the last global warming scare LOL). But tomorrow is supposed to start dropping so I'll be out there following along with a few of your great videos like the intercooler install and the charge pipe install. I'll save the down pipes install until I have a friend to curse and shout at the bolts with. LOL.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube

      Wow, that's such a long standing temp record. Haha. Im not gonna lie 38c is normal shed temps in our summer, but on the flip side i hate working in temps under 15c.

    Did not know about the plug gasket. Good to know! On zpost its the pan gasket that is most notorious for leaking... have read some posts where owner had its dct pan gasket replaced 3 times. In the end did not even bother anymore with minor leaking.
    My DCT pan gasket started sweating oil around 100k km so had my DCT serviced. Service already includes new pan gasket, so if you service your DCT regularly it may not be as big of an issue as each time you do... that gasket gets replaced anyway... also pan itself could cause same issue due to warping etc.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 3 lety +1

    Is that the normal process to install that seal? The stretching had me very nervous!😅
    Btw, the conversion to msd81 can be done exclusively with Autohex 2 through the OBD port. No other software needed. It’s mega! Only problem is MSD creates new UIF entry and you might have a VIN mismatch if you need an emissions test. That is, the test shop reader will show the donor VIN and then you’ll have to explain, yeah nah, I just swapped my DME no worries mate. 😂

      I brought my 2002 330CI which is now completely swapped with a 2006 M3 to the dealer for air bag recalls and they were very confused for a few minutes. But then a mechanic was brought in (they brought up three different vin numbers on the car when they scanned the keys LOL) and he said "oh yea just a minute" took the keys and went away for five minutes then came back a told the desk person "No problem" I have entered it. I just told them the motor blew on the car and so I swapped in this new one from the M3. So it's now officially entered into the BMW network as the Frankenstein it is. (That's Frronkenshteen) LOL. They did the air bag and now I have an pesky airbag light that has a different problem apparently.

    I'm having an issue with my DCT in my n54 just now. Recently I've been getting some error codes pop up with a start assistance failure and transmission error.
    The car wont tell me what gear it's in and seems to stick in the same gear and won't change.
    Then it will randomly lose all codes an work fine again.
    Seems like an issue with the transmission connecting to the DME as MHD monitoring shows the temp for the transmission as -40° when the codes are there.
    ProTool also doesn't even list the transmission as one of the ECU's when the codes are there.

      Hey Mate, sorry i can't comment from experience. but it does sound like a communication fault. Although i havent seen it on a DCT its quite often the mechatronic plugs on the autos will leak oil in to the connect and eventually caused electrically problems. This DCT plug oring was the cause of its oil leaks, so its probably a similar issue on the DCTs. Are you able to get the car on a lift and check the plug out? It right on top and quite hard to get a visual on.
