    I agree ! They're phenomenal 😮 I'm a professional musician so I know how the sound is in real life... And this set is really great (planar is a game changer for the sound, timbre, speed...) They sound like a mini Audeze to me. (I have the excellent Audeze MM-100 EQ with Oratory) so thanks for the comparison with the Shure. that says a lot about sound quality... I also fine the tuning very good exept the uper mids which are too far forward. But with the red nozzles and the voice tips, I find this the closest setting to a neutral sound so far (and without losing resolution, at least to my ears) Thanks for this review 🙏😎👍

    Kudos to you, Andy! With your honest review and in-depth coverage, I bought my first IEM and dongle DAC: Tanchjim Zero & iBasso DC03 Pro. I am enjoying them greatly!
    I haven't had a chance to audition any planar magnetics so I hope to seek your advice - what major differences would I notice from my single dynamic driver IEM? Which dongle DAC pairs well with the MP145? Lastly, is there a stark difference between unbalanced and balanced option? My music of choice varies: ballads, jazz, pop and live recordings. I prefer a more neutral|balanced sound signature IEM.
    I appreciate your opinion and thanks again for igniting the fire in my audiophile journey!

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  Před 10 měsíci +5

      Thanks Ryan. The main difference between a DD and Planar is the transient speed at which planar are natively faster (more potential for more resolution). Only well-tuned DD can match a planar speed for speed. Then there's the timbre of which it is hard to explain unless you spend time with it because not everyone will be able to adapt to the technical nature of planars (which you may find them often describing planars as having planar timbre, LOL!). Ultimately that subject will depend on taste and preferences. To me I like to be open and accept each different driver tech for what they offer.
      MP145, if you ask me sounds the best with the likes of HIBY FC6 or CEntrance DACport HD, since you didn't mention budget constraints. Otherwise, your iBasso DC03Pro will already be one of the best to pair with it, but if you want a bit more of uncolored presentation with wider headroom, iBasso DC04Pro or RU7 has it in spades.
      Then the significance of 3.5mm SE to 4.4mm BAL is not in the plug itself, but in the DAC/Amps that you use. In this review you can see clearly, I use Burson Audio Playmate 2 which is a 3.5mm SE only DAC/Amp and that thing is about the most beautiful sounding desktop DAC/Amp I have listened to so far. So, if you have a DAC that has 4.4mm and 3.5mm SE, then use 4.4mm option (because they normally offer their 100% from the 4.4mm BAL, and 50% reduced output from the 3.5mm SE), otherwise on 3.5mm only system like FC6 and DACport HD, both my all-time No.1 among many). Hope this helps.

      You already have an amazing KARA incoming so I would recommend that you spend time on KARA first to appreciate the sound it offers. The tuning of KARA is slightly different from the more energetic MP145 and since you already have PR2, that would suffice to keep you entertained now. When you are ready to step up from PR2, MP145 is what I would recommend because MP145 appeal being the airy speedy transients and overall balance which I like a lot. KARA on the other hand is a very smooth operator that has equally great balance too. So you are not losing anything here by not getting both at the same time

      It is not that recessed. I was comparing it with the likes of Etymotic ER series as well as Shure KSE1500 which has bold Midrange, but what MP145 offers is pretty much similar to most other V tuned IEMs, you would not feel it being recessed for as long as you don't compare with Midcentric models. My listening preferences can be different from you, and that's normal because that's the nature of human biology affected by individual sensitivity, also a matter of taste and preferences.
      If you find Timeless thin, then you need something denser and more colored, something like Tangzu Zetian Wu (Purple) or Letshuoer Z12 (not S12). They offer thick sound notes. Now on TTGK, to my knowledge it is supposed to be something that need to be installed manually using an APK. I have one that I have been sharing on my Google drive and perhaps you can try that one. You will need to specifically allow an "unknown" APK to run on your Android phone or else the installation will never happen. Once you have that instance successfully installed, TTGK can update itself the moment you load it up, there will be a prompt. I can't give you a straight answer to this as I love both equally. For they are equally matched and I have declared in my 2023 closing video that both are No.1. Both are equal with soundstage and imaging, the main differences would be A5000 offer stronger V sound curve and MP145 offer slightly faster dynamic transients (because it is a planar), the A5000 however has a bit more of airy decays (because it is a DD). There's two that I would recommend if you don't have budget limit. Choice No.1 will be HIBY FC6 and then Aune Yuki. FC offers the richest sound with top notch resolution, Yuki on the other hand gives wide open soundstage with lots of air, just slightly less dense with texture as compared to FC6, but any way I look at it both are the very best for MP145. I am not familiar with T2. But from what you mentioned, it seems that you have high sensitivity to upper frequencies. MP145 is a sparkly sounding IEMs and that is to be expected of any IEMs that offer amazing transient responses, the likes of KSE1500, Etymotic ER4SR, Final Audio A5000 all are speed demons. But, going back to MP145, this is where the Red Nozzle would probably work for someone like you, it offers some dampening but does not sacrifice the speed. Also, it would appear that you may find Tanchjim KARA to suit your needs, it is among the ones that I like for being fast yet smooth. If you ever listened to HiFiMan HE400SE Stealth magnetic planar headphone, MP145 has similar sound to that unit, except that I would say MP145 is a better sounding one between those two. hope this helps

    Awesome review here. Could you help me with a purchase decision? Currently using the T3+ and quite enjoying it but would like to have an upgrade.
    My preferences:
    - forward and engaging vocal
    - treble not piercing or shouty
    - high quality bass
    - similar or higher quantity of bass as T3+, not a basshead though, just a bass enjoyer
    - overall better technicality than T3+
    Genres: R&b, soul, Indie bedroom pop, hiphop
    I've also tried:
    - Moondrop Chu: Too flat and the bass is too low for me
    - Zero: RED (with the bass boost adapter): Better bass and less forward vocal than T3+. Overall not enough of an upgrade over T3+ for me
    These are what I'm considering:
    - Hidizs MP145
    - TANGZU x HBB Wu Heyday
    - Tripowin x HBB Olina SE
    - Ikko OH10
    - Truthear Nova

      @donglemadness  Před 6 měsíci +1

      From what you described there of your needs, I think moving from T3+ would be Gizaudio Galileo, closer match to your preferences than any of the IEMs you listed. I love both MP145 and Heyday but since you mentioned you may be sensitive to energetic Treble, best not to risk that with magnetic planar speedy dynamic transients which many has regarded as "brighter", especially if the person is so very well versed with single DD safe tuning (T3+ is safe tuned). But if you want to spend a bit more then SIVGA Nightingale is what I would recommend the foremost, the smoothest organic sounding planars I have tried ever with rich Mids presentation and texture, also not forgetting airy decays

    • @lyh01
      @lyh01 Před 6 měsíci

      @@donglemadness Thanks for the detailed reply, I probably won't go for the Sivga for now due to budget issue, but I'd like to add some more contexts here regarding Galileo. Another reason why I enjoy the T3+ is the slight v-shape 'fun' tuning with decent quantity of bass and forward vocal. I watched and read some Galileo reviews and saw quite a few people think that the bass lacks in quantity, punchiness, authority, and just the overall performance and 'fun' factor. Some said that it sounds restrained or even straightup boring. I compare its FR graph with the less bassy options on my list (Heyday & Olina SE), while they graph similarly in terms of bass quantity, people don't share the same negative sentiment about their bass seemingly because they still have very high bass performance compared to the Galileo. It also graphs similarly to the Hexa which lots of people said would be too neutral to me. I'm not a basshead but I'm still a bass enjoyer so I would still want somewhat fun and engaging bass, at least similar quantity to the T3+, not like the Chu. About the treble sensitivity, I think I'm probably fine as long as it's not an IEM known for this issue such as the S12 Pro. I probably have lots of misconceptions here which I hope you would clear up for me. Do you think I would find the Galileo not 'fun' and engaging enough or would you still recommend it?

      @@donglemadness it's just not convenient to use big dac. Light weight Dongles are easy to use. That's why I asked. Thanks Andy.

    I have an ea500, can this be an upgrade or a sidegrade of the ea500?

      As much as I like EA500, this MP145 is undoubtedly superior in every way. A clear upgrade in terms of sheer performance and quality

      thank you, maybe I will consider buying it, because judging by several reviewers that I watched, they said that the price performance was good

    i suggest you may want to invest in better audio recording for your video because as an audio channel we can hear all saturation, sibillance and background noise of your current audio recording setup ;)

    how does the overall technical and timbre mp145 compare to the ea1000?

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  Před 5 měsíci +1

      MP145 has a bit more of technical edge over EA1000. Timbre wise, about similar, just that MP145 still has superiority with transient speed and air

    This or Panda 2?

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  Před 2 měsíci

      Only you can decide that, if you like highly technical sound presentation with the best transient speed, MP145 is the best. But you must also consider the appeal of P1 MAX2 Panda for being slightly better on natural timbre and sound texture. Figure that one out and you will have your answers. Both MP145 and P1 MAX 2 are well tuned to be energetic V sound curve IEMs

      @@donglemadness I live in Indonesia. There is no way to try an IEM before buying. Must buy. I am from the 70s, I want as close to Analogue sound as possible. Sounds like Panda then? Presently having trouble with my dongle, it's making me dizzy, I can't stand it. It make no sense. It's not properly recognized by any app, Hiby, fiio, eddict, etc, they see it, I click add, then it is gone, a loop asking me to add the thing. It was playing only in lowest relolution, then on Hiby, I selected 24-192 output, and now on any of these apps, now the light is orange, which means above 384. Even 16-44, shows as playing at that resolution,above 384 . If I use standard android player, the lights are correct for the resolution, cyan for 24-192.etc, but I though android won't play that resolution? So now I can't play my dsd because it is audible that it is coming in pcm, even though I choose native.. Etc. Etc. There is no one to help with this. I must bust my skull trying to figure it out. I am too old for this nonsense. I just want to listen to my music, big problems. 😂😂😂
