- The experiment continues :) Thanks for all the feedback on our last Slow Tv episode! For this one we strapped the camera just above the cockpit. It's one static view 40 minutes long of Delos beating upwind from Trinidad to Grenada. The idea behind these videos is to provide a relaxing, ambient experience with natural audio and no editing. Something to relax to, put up on your flatscreen or second monitor, and just zone out and watch the world go by.
Hope you enjoy, and as always looking forward to your feedback and suggestions.
Fair Winds, Karin, Brian, Brady, and Alex.
Don't know anything about SLOW TV? Some info below :)
On a recent sail we were inspired by a TED talk on the concept of Slow TV. The idea is to capture an experience from a point of view over a long time span. Here is a link to the TED talk if you are interested: www.ted.com/talks/thomas_hell...
My favorite point of sail. Love watching these long static view episodes while doing some deep thinking and writing. Just enough imagery and audio to bring the world back into view and know that someone somewhere is doing something fun. Thanks for sharing the journey.
My favorite Delos video so far. Thank you.
Wow guys , this is a real treat. I'm a big fan Slow TV. I'd love to see this on a regular basis like at least every couple of months or so. Through different weather experiences, maybe drop a camera under water in a fantastic coral reef for a half hour where you happen to find a real busy cleaning station or just lots of pretty coral fish. Possibilities are endless. Don't choke us with them . Make us develop a hunger for them. Cheers to the whole crew !
Lots of soul searching out there on the open blue. Thank you for sharing Delos! Much love to all the crew! Present and past.
Having sailed over 50,000 Miles, I cant tell you just how much I enjoyed this video! It beings back so many pleasant memories of many wonderful days at sea! Gracias!!!!👍✌️🙏🏼
anyone who gives this a thumbs down has never enjoyed the wonderful bliss that sailing brings!! Nothing is more peaceful or relaxing. It puts you to sleep in a most tranquil way. Yet the violence of the sea is to be respected as well. Your videos are wonderful and remind me of my sailing days. Thank you.
Or perhaps they were downvoting the artificial/transplanted sounds.
Very cool. Makes me feel like I'm almost there on deck watching the boat slice through the endless choppy blue water. Standing at the helm with one eye on the compass, a big mug of hot coffee teasing my nose as I enjoy the cold salty mist on my face. Thank you so very much.
The norwegian broadcast started for several years with the concept of slow tv. They started with a train trip ( 6-7 hours) from Bergen to Oslo. 3 cameras in front of the train and just some text information and background music during the trip. This was a great success and now they produce every year a very long slow tv program.
Yes, we saw the TED talk on the Norwegian TV and it's what inspired us to try it as well :)
@@svdelos, Hello! You guys haven't responded much to commenters on this Slow TV video. There have been a few suggestions to make future videos like this better, but no replies (except this one) from the Delos crew. Are you real busy just now, or something along those lines? It's always good to hear back from you. Throwing some hearts around (even if I don't get one) lets us know we commenters are part of the Delos tribe.
Since I know you often do respond to at least a few comments it just seemed like almost no responses to this video was odd. I hope everything is okay! And thanks for the effort you put into ALL your videos. Can't wait for this Friday!

FOUR DAYS WITHOUT SLEEP, DOWN WITH FLU AND COUGHING, FINALLY SLEPT LAST NIGHT WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS, THANK YOU/
What a zen experience....... once I realized the whole video was the sail........... it was awesome....... a great background to go to sleep tonight......... you guys (and ladies) rock.
the sound of the sea and the light whistle of the wind is very mediative .
If you have made a passage, you will know the beauty in this.
Spot on!!!
I am doing a Valiant 40 restoration and neck deep in the process. This video is a God send. This is giving me motivation to forge ahead, and not getting overwhelmed by the daunting task ahead. This is the goal. I have been following your adventures for over a year now, and this is the best video for me. Thanks. Not diminishing all the personalities and work that you all put into your videos but this specific one just puts it plainly why we all crave the ocean. Sail on.
Straight into my soul. Utterly magnificent. Whenever I have trouble sleeping, I force myself to dream like this. Works every time. Single handed around the world....maybe I don't have it in me. Have fun out there.
LOVE THIS. Finally Got our boat all tucked up, winterized and ready for winter in AK. Now I’m sitting by our wood stove listening to this, and studying for the GRE 😬😬😬. Thank you!
Dudes & Dudettes - AWESOME! Sitting here drinking rum punch and catching up on paperwork in the evening. Work sucks, but this definitely took the edge off and kept reminding me that I have a plan to be headed that way in the future. I wish I could somehow take the audio and save it on my phone. Love it.
This was amazing. The motion of the boat, the sound of the water and wind....this was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
As I sit here, mesmerized, I can FEEL the movement of the ocean beneath the hull as it rises up and down... the Ups and the Downs.... rhythmic at a beat of it's own making...
Fantastic ride! I wish I was there! Thank you and please make more videos like that. Fair winds 😉
I keep humming "Victory at Sea". watching this video takes me back to the 07 level
of the superstructure of the USS MIDWAY (1961) where I was flying in the wind.. Very therapeutic. Thanks boys.
Nothing I've seen makes me want to sail more than this video.
I really love this experiment! Watched..... snoozed.......drooled this vid twice. Gotta stop doing that when tired. Would love to see more as it is so relaxing, especially when you want to zone out. Chhers and thanx :)
This video brings the real sailors out of the woodwork.
Excellent video, please consider more of these in the future!
Hi you guys THANKS! I am going play this when i go to sleep tonight.
Andrew Bergin me too. Been looking for proper ocean/wave sounds for ages.
@@jmb1805 IKR? Nothing like the sound of water on the hull and the light luff of a sail...
the Most relaxing video EVER! I'd like to see more of this, with natural sound of water and wind.
I watched the whole thing, without a pause: the point is to bring reality to life in the moment.
I like it. Great background sounds while I do some serious work. I have recorded a little stream near my house during different times of the year and love the sound. There is a park bench nearby for people to sit and listen and look at the flowers. It is there for a reason. Very relaxing and thought provoking. I don't do facebook or twitter as these things are distracting to my life. I watched the TED talk and it was a great idea. Not silly but it let people sit on the ship or on railway for a time. I watch Amazing race as it is a great traveling guide to places to see. I was in Switzerland recently on a road trip and looked up and swear I have seen that farmhouse on the hillside. Except nobody was bringing milk down the hillside at the time. I almost did some sailing in the caribbean a few years back buy my friend had a heart attack and is fine now but sailing but it put a kibosh on the sailing in remote locations. Thanks for posting the vid. I haven't watched tv in 4 years now and have a happier and more fulfilling life. CZcams has made a world of difference. Great video. Thanks for letting me ride on the boat for a bit of your adventure.
So good for my sailor soul. It's too long a story, I'm about halfway through a major refit but it's paused and I'm 1500 miles away from the boat for six months or so. Thanks for this.
Thanks for posting. Very relaxing, visual and sound. Some of those waves were pounding the boat.
These are absolutely appreciated. Love all your episodes, but I put these on the big screen on repeat. Love it. Super cool. Thank you!
I love it. Thank you ! I think this is what I will watch and daydream.
So I would like to say that I've been looking at boats for about 2 years now and in doing so was told to look at Utube sailing channels. Then I found Delos and immediately fell in love not only with the content but with Amel. The Super Mamou 2000 I hope I spelled that correctly is exactly the boat for me it's either that or a cat for me. You guys rock I don't miss one bit of content on this platform I do miss the camaraderie that you all had with Lizzer & Liz what wonderful times and hope that they will return in the future. Cheers
Loved this video! So peaceful and tranquil. Just what I needed. More please!!
Sailing Delos through fpv is awesome. Thanks for the videos guys you are so inspiring.
Imagine your alone in the blue with that beautiful boat and scenery you can't buy that's the life thankyou delos crew nice take on your media journey I'm an artist so this is art x
Think I enjoyed it more than the river one. I put it full screen, put my feet up on my yarn box, leaned back and went to work on that cardigan I've been slooowwwlllyyy knitting. (sloth knit along - I think i'm the only sloth still on this project.) It was like knitting in front of a window, found myself rocking in time to the waves and movement of the boat! Very Relaxing. Realized that even though I was only watching it over top of my work - my subconscious was getting too into it when I started leaning way to the right. Good thing you didn't tack mid-stream or I may have been startled into falling out of my chair! ;-)
As I look and listen, I can slightly pretend that I'm on the ocean in my own sailboat, just watching this keeps my dream alive. Thank you for the meditation. Good Vibes delos crew Good Vibes. Feeling very chill today has good balance. Will catch you on the next one, May there be smooth sailing for you.

Thanks for years of amazing content, Delos!
Love it, just gotta love it! THANK YOU
This one is great for background music/viewing. It is sooo soothing! For some reason it keeps my attention much better than the river cruise one. Please do more of these, especially if there is a lot of other ship traffic around. Thanks for the great vids: they are awesome!
Always found long steady passages relaxing. This brings it back. Thanks.
This was the perfect thing to watch on a cold November night on Fox Island, Washington….CHEERS!
Now that's a long winded video 😆
I love it, just wish it was longer. Perfect for meditation, relaxation or trying to sleep.
Thank you Delos, I greatly appreciated your video to work and relax. Good Luck and Positive Vibrations. You are very inspiring!
Thank you. A sailing channel showing sailing. Well done. I have been waiting for this. Exactly what I subscribed for.
Just set it up on repeat for all day long at work. I can't wait to be free to travel the world!
This is great. I found it while finishing up lunch today, and put it on while I got back to work on some coding. Great background material!
Excellent. This is the part of sailing I love. Just making the boat go. Mix in some friends, a few squalls and a little maintenance for variety and its a great experience .
Just need it in 360 video now, then I can span it across my three monitors and can be sailing right there with you! Great work as always!
Wow! I really enjoyed that. I love sailing close hauled in a big wind.
I love it! I use these while I work and they get me into a deep focus. Keep them coming... keep them long. lol
What an exciting film I wish it was a wee bit longer and the sea was a bit rougher
Thank you SV Delos i slept within 2 minutes of this video last night. Fantastic !!!
Thank you for showing us this part of sailing! It's not as simple as it looks. Lots of downtime while sailing!
Thank you for this, it makes me smile.
This is by far one of the most relaxing videos to watch! Thanks SV Delos and regards from Cape Town!
There’s something very satisfying about this video. Nice work. You folks are awesome.
Am loving hearing the sounds of the sea. Thank you x
Amazing, loved it! It´s like being out there from my office. I found myself closing my eyes for minutes and tele-transporting to my last sail. Thanks guys, I love you.
the only thing missing is the shutter of the bow breaking thru the waves, along with the pitch and roll from the sea her self. thank you for the ride. next best thing would to be there on board. maybe some day fair winds and gods speed. you guys rock thank you
So relaxing, I'm well chilled out now, thank you
This is something I could fall asleep to, happily.
The wind & waves drowned out my tinnitis! Thanks guys
I Like it. I Like it a Lot
Keep em coming
I love watching these..I pack a nice bowl of kush and then sit back and chill with the sound of the waves crashing against the hull...it's almost like being in the cockpit.. except I'm on my couch, and it's snowing outside...Anyways sail on Delos, and never stop doing what your doing, because what your doing is amazing !!
I have been waiting for one of these…...Thank You
that was absolutely lovely :-)) thank you.
loved the vid and the first episode i ever watched of Delos ep 46 came up at the end so i watched it again wow you guys have come so far in everthing thank you so much light and love Bri xx
Not sure how I missed this one in the Delos library. Love the slow-tv.
An accurate representation of what you do. Thank you.
Great vid. felt if Iwas there, was anticipating the movement of the boat before the waves hit, felt as if I was acutally sailing, am a heavy weather guy, love the long beat to heavy weather.
I loved this video because it shows the constant same sound u would here for hours the real thing of hours at sea that would wear you down I’ve never sailed but just starting my thing was aeroplanes but now I’m going to have ago at sailing same principles bit more time to think about it love you guys watch all your videos see you got few kiwis on board I’m from chch but lived in Perth for 11 years bout same age as you guys
Sorry about full stops I think to fast and haven’t got time for them haha
I would like a glimpse just for 30 seconds say every 20 minutes of the track and instruments....but yes it is nice to watch it in London it clears the mind...Thanks guys again
This might not be for all fans. But just the sound of the boat gets my goat. Helping me pack boxes to get out of New York state and onto the ocean of the all possible.
Just smoked a fat doobie, This is perfect. cheers! safe sailing.
RAS - OG Bogart.
Wow Man!
RAS -OG+ Now that's a great idea, therapy for the soul.
Cheers/smokes
I know what I'm doing tonight!!!!
I JUST FILLED MY PIPE WITH SOME PRE 98 BUBBA KUSH..FROM COLORADO AND GLENLIVET SCOTCH !
Love this Vid. You guys are the best. Rock on Delos!!!!!
I love this one! The sound of the wind and the waves just lulling me to sleep. I really miss being at sea!
I put it on the big screen at work and people loved it....Thanks
So surrealistic, thank you for sharing!!!!
Hi guys, I absolutely love it! Continue to release similar videos. This is a great theme to put in order the nervous system at the end of the day, to meditate or just turn on this video on the big screen and do some own thing. Maybe it will help someone to calm children) Great! Thank you!
Haha, awesome idea! Love the “slow TV” approach. The sounds of wind and sea are very relaxing ⚓️😎. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! Nice 40 minutes of sailing! Cool slow TV episode!
Some people don't like beating into the wind. I'm one that does. That's just sailing. Now constantly tacking, I can do without. There is nothing like hours alone at the helm. I like the people interaction too but I sure do like being at the helm (with the auto pilot on) just watching.
+1
That was so relaxing. Thanks.
I absolutely love it. Will be back tonight to zone out. ( thanks for this, really, I live in the exact center of the NA continent , where everything is frozen this time of year, the sailing really sucks.
Hahaha. I've been watching this on my phone, turning the screen to level the horizon. NOW I'm watching it on my large screen TV and it feels like I'm REALLY there!! If I'm not careful I'll vomit over the sofa!!! Greetings from the Cornwall Sofa Sailing Team, Hayle division X
Thanks for this.. I had to look at it twice to get a proper feeling from it. It certainly has its place.
reminds me of my solo sail from Richards Bay (South Africa) to Mauritius - BRRRILIANT - THANKS GUYS
could you do more of these in different conditions please?
I put it in my law office waiting area TV. We usually run S/V Delos videos there. Just run the "play all" button until time to go home :). We have a 26 foot MacGregor M -- Hybrid sailboat / motorboat -- We enjoy the videos and they are non controversial and relaxing in the waiting room
loving these slow tv vids guys !
This is great - real sailing. No play-by-play noise or people goofing around all over the place. I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning unless I had at least conditions like that to go play in my Tornado. Sailing a house might be a bit different, but I suppose it can be fun too.
I was a volunteer firefighter for six years and the rescue truck was big enough to stand around in the back my cheif told us if you can stand up and not fall over as rolly and curvy our roads are that you wouldn't have any problems standing on a boat
Delos doing what Delos does. This gives a sense for what crossing oceans really means. It's like one of the basics of life on Earth.
Needed this.. Thank you DelosCrew
Just getting ready for work, the weather is grey and wet outside. This is the fix it need much better than the news in the morning 😁
WOW one of your best videos yet!!!
I suppose that the vessel was able to stay on track by itself w/out using any pilot and you fixed the rudder regulating properly the sails, mizzen enclosed.
Even if going against the wind is never confortable, is the fashinating mistery of sailing.. I could not watch it for 40 ' long, but I did it
for a good half..
Really amazing and relaxing video that shows how good is your boat in rough seas.
Hey Delos, really like your slow TV. It gives a good feel for what sailing is really like (minus the water splashing in my face). Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more Slow TV.
