@bardongalang32 that's funny! I looked at my shoes after a few months of running and realized the outside heel is worn and the inside toe is worn. Like I'm heel striking on the outside and pushing off with the inside. 🤷♂️🤣
I just joined! I used to run track and cross country, but I had a lot of ankle instability that meant I was always injured back then. I'm not interested in living that way again, so I'm here trying to fix my form before I ruin my joints for the rest of my career. Can't imagine the aches after running another 30+ years that way!
Please guys, this is an Olympic athlete giving these tips. Try it for yourself, and watch other athletes in the sport do what she is teaching. Even the sprinters. I started implementing these techniques and have become the fastest I’ve every been. I’m 30 and used to play football growing up. Also I enjoy running and can run daily without the knee pain, shin pain, and ankle pain. She is right about minimizing injuries too.
I started using her tips and in one week shaved 5 minutes off my 5k. I run 2x a week very casually, mostly for fun not really caring about speed. And 3 runs in to applying these tips I feel like I am frickin flying. So cool!!!!!
I've been running with my 14 y/o son that's in XC, he's been telling me how bad my technique and breathing is. I now know how to run better and I can now go longer. They never taught us this back in the day.
@@user-tk2yg9je7cyeah, if you think you're over striding you probably are. Usually you get better speed by increasing steps per min. Quicker shorter steps will be better. But some coaches say don't increase more than 10% a month. As you risk injury. You can set a timer and count your steps. The fastest distance runners are around 181.
I would love if you would demonstrate actual running forward as opposed to on the spot. I can't process the description(of running) with conflicting demonstration ( of running on the spot) many thanks.
I am turning 29 in a few months & planning on enlisting into the AirForce. I haven’t been as active since I graduated High School, but this channel gives me all the confidence as well as hope to progress so efficiently! Thank you for everything & God Bless you!
Good information. I went from heal striking to toe striking and really messed up my calf and Achilles. And now I’m running on mid foot and feel much better.
Yeah studies have shown that neither prevents more injury. They just have different possible injuries. And that heel striking can be efficient for long distances. Some helpful ways to prevent injury is to build up distance and speed [gradually], work on strengthening muscles, and also especially muscle imbalances
Distance matters and you should play around with all these strikes to see how they feel for you. Especially toe strikes, can be good to train those calf muscles. Personally, I find if I play around with my strikes over a 5k or longer, it helps with fatigue and keeps me focused on form. The tips on not having quite such a long stride I've found super helpful. Like... I used to really drag myself forward on kicks but now I increase rotation speed and strike more in line with my chest and it feels much better. Which she talks ablut in other videos.
I've read comments. Charia is directed at sprint techniques. Maybe some stuff applies to what is called jogging. Jogging is distance training. Distance training doesn't match to sprinter requirements .
Believe it or not. Your tricks and tips. Increase my speed in combat boots with the same amount of effort. From 7min/km to 5min/km and no injuries with these cold war style boots with the leather and wood.
Love your videos, they’ve helped me out a lot. I usually midfoot on flat terrain, toes first uphill and heal-strike downhill. Can you talk about how this would change depending on the incline or decline
Fun fact, the main three is meant to actually be forefoot, mid or back. Forefoot and mid are great, heel is a never. Forefoot striking is actually different from toe striking, toe striking is landing on obviously the toes but forefoot is landing on the front ball of your feet which is close to your toes but not you’re toes. Professional sprinters mainly use the forefront
I have pain in the shin area, just by running 3-5 miles, it decreased after slow running but still that’s the pain I have when running for long or faster.
Ok this is completely open ended: when I was a kid (maybe 6) I read in a book that tigers push with for us would be the ball of our foot backwards, and so I started running like that and ever since I’ve had that mentality when it comes to running (im not a runner btw) should I change or naw???
I was toe striking thinking i was great as was not heel striking , adter few soleus issues and strains gour run drills i oracticed over and over and now run so much more efficent
If anyone could let me know, - does 'mid-foot' mean Ball of feet? Because if the strike is much further back then would that not be Flat-footed running? Thanks
I have scoliosis, that plus not really knowing the proper running form, I would end up with severe back pain and several injuries from running like tearing my calf muscle,I pretty much retired from running. I came across your videos, the skate boarding technique is so easy to remember, I’m trying again. I appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge! I always wondered which was the proper or most efficient way for the stride. I described my running as stomping and now understand why I hurt all the time.
My man, i also have scoliosis and i have flat feet. Try to build the strongest core muscles in the world and don't overdo running in the beginning, let body adapt. Keep pushing, king 👑💪
I think it's more about how you strike. A lot of people doing these kind of videos do a lot of head bobbing. I think a better technique would be to focus on pushing yourself forwards with as little vertical movement. If you run barefoot you'll learn a lot because any inefficiency lost in excessive impact with the gound will translate to pain
I tried running on the balls of my feet per instruction by an "expert". Shortly thereafter got plantar fasciitis and had it for 20 yrs before finally recovering 85%. It got bad enough that it changed most things about my lifestyle. 10 yrs into it, every step hurt from step #1 after the alarm clock, to the last step before going to bed.
Started running 4 months ago 43 now. And I'm not sure I know it's possible for me to control any of that.... Any tips on midfoot striking and how strength in the muscle memory to always strike that way
I see a lot of runners say your foot shouldn't land out in front, but underneath you. How come if you watch Eliud Kipchoge and some of the other best distance runners they seem to do this then?
I'm usually a decent runner. So I think, but I'm feet start feeling numb once I have distance. Usually, it's more on my left than right. What do you think I'm doing wrong?
Shout out to the people that just started running after age 20+ trying to live a heathlier lifestyle.
Hola
29 signed up for half marathon ✊🏻
Started at 29/30. Life changer. Feels AMAZING
41 last March '23 and into running since then. I'm a heel strike runner that's obviously shown on my running shoes 😂 need to work on that 😅
@bardongalang32 that's funny! I looked at my shoes after a few months of running and realized the outside heel is worn and the inside toe is worn. Like I'm heel striking on the outside and pushing off with the inside. 🤷♂️🤣
I'm so grateful for these lessons, not just for running form, but to be uplifted by your positive mental attitude and discipline.
Started running at the age of 37 and I’ve never been happier in my life. 😊
Go you! 🎉
After 30+ years in the Army, I wish I knew this sooner! I started running again because of you.
I just joined! I used to run track and cross country, but I had a lot of ankle instability that meant I was always injured back then. I just did my first pt test with my recruiter and got my butt kicked on the running portion lol
@jamie6506 ...and THAT, my friend is why I have flat feet.

Legit. My legs don't get anywhere near as sore since I started implanting some of her tips and focused on form
The Queen of running. Always giving great instructions with reason. Superb!

You are the only one who talked about toes striking, I'm suffering with calf cramps every time I run.. thank you for clarification
Never thought I could be a runner - but these videos are helping me try!
I believe I am over striding. Feels like a jolt of force up my legs when I hit the ground.
imagine youre pushing your legs down instead of yourself up, make sure your feet hit the ground underneath your hips, form a vertical line
Check your cadence

very nice visual clarification!!!! where I have done few mistakes and suffered a lot.. thankyou
I didn’t know running is so complicated , I can't even run properly😢

Midfoot striking gives me the most jerk-shock in my knees. Heel strike is the most comfortable for me in slow jogging.

Thanks for the tips!!! This helps a lot as a older female runner!
Thanks for all the great tips
Thank you for your videos. The military just says run they need someone like you to teach proper running in the military.
I wish I found this before my 100 mile challenge last month. But I’m happy I found it before the half marathon in 4 weeks
Thanks beautiful you have the best dam video so far and I've watched 100s all the other gurus don't make any dam sense!
Looking good 👍🏼
thank you, also it (the striking mode) seems to be able to autotune with experience.

Can you make a video about plantar flex and dorsiflex when running. And should we land dorsiflexed or plantar flex for distanxe runs?
