The commenter was defining the term because Ashley was talking about "hyping your kids up" at the end about that scene with the sign and they were pointing out to her that it's not actually a positive term, but typically more of a derogatory one, merely informing her. No one was telling anyone to do anything so you can keep your outrage to yourself. Weird comment.

Like we are some fashionistas overnight or summit. My mother still to this days will send me pics and say would this skirt suit me or would this dress or top suit me and what about these high heal shoes will these suit me and what would they go with and then gets her entire bloody wardrobe of dresses out. My late (Irish) mother reacted in entirely the opposite way to this. Not just from the usual ' It's a sin in God's eye ' view but the whole embarrassment aspect should the neighbours find out. The irony being that pretty much everyone knew or suspected anyway and apart from the typical snide comments like 'Keep your backs to the wall, here comes the shirt lifter', life in my avenue wasn't too bad. So mother really wouldn't have had any reason to be embarrassed by what the neighbours thought. And her religious 'fervour' was unchangeable from as way back as I can recall, we just lived with it.

Definitely! She's great and it would be another British accent for Ashley to wrestle with! lol (Although she seems very good at understanding them)

I still find it weird when people from Northern Ireland use 'Well!' as a greeting.

It's short for "Well, what do we have here then?"

Another quality programme produced by the late Geoffrey Perkins - Died far too young and was responisible for me laughing my head off throughout many a British comedy.
Also produced amongst other things, Harry Enfield and Father Ted and many more.

@@AshleysReview It was a long time ago. We're fine now. But it was very hard at the time. When people who are closest to you don't support or try to understand you in life, bad things can happen. In my case, I was drugged and raped by an older male before I was 'out', which meant I felt I couldn't talk about it, so I hid it and suppressed it, which led to further consequences and some mental health issues that still affect me to this day, albeit much better now since I faced up to and accepted the issues. But I'd like to be able to help other people understand how serious it can be when people don't have acceptance, love and support (and this goes for many things, not just being LGBTIQ+). x
