I love how Austin's hard work is being recognized and appreciated.
Of all the drummers i've seen live, Weckl is my favorite by far. More Weckl videos please Austin.
Special thanks to Austin for making this video for us! If you haven't checked out his channel before, make sure you do so here! czcams.com/users/abbdrums
hello, I like your dave weckl video explication!
Could try to make an other dave weckl video when he has played with buddy rich big band ( bugle call ragg solo)! I like this technique, he use too much sextplets!
Just subscribed!
I love this series on Austin's channel. I'm glad Vic Firth reached out to him and gave him an opportunity like this.
Austin, I gotta say you are as fluid as Dave, Especially the sweep motion. Your a fantastic player and a easy to understand coach..thanks sooo much
Austin I'm following you from Costa Rica couple of years ago and happy to see you at Vic Firth 'cause is a recognition for the work you do, congratulations, blessings
Austin! I'm happy for ya, buddy! WIth the quality of your videos and your playing, it comes as no surprise that you were offered to post here!
Priceless work Austin. Congratulations too. Darryl Johnson from LedZepplica
That is great Austin! Man, just hearing you verbally communicate the concept of being able to hear upbeat triplets at higher tempos really helped me out - been playing drums for many many years and have experienced that brain trick so many times but have never really put much thought to it - THANK YOU!!
So I saw the Study The Greats part if the title and instinctively clicked on it as I always do when I see a new one of your videos and then I realized it was on the Vic Firth channel!! So I believe congrats is in order to you Austin! Really cool to see being able to educate and share these videos with a wider audience!! Drum on!!
Fantastic video Austin! Dave Weckl is a world class musician and master drummer. He's SO Relaxed with his musical phrasing on the kit with his silky smooth approach. Poetry in motion!
Very cool Austin! It is crystal clear & very well explained ....I've check this great solo many times & lifted out that specific lick. You sound great! Thank you
Congrats man! Awesome job as usual! Dude, that ride's got one sexy shake brudda!!!
really enjoying this series. I think a breakdown of the first ten seconds of 'Vinnie Colaiuta live at the baked potato part 5' on youtube would be a great installment. It's the most savage ten seconds of drumming I've ever seen.
Great instructional. Enjoyed and learned quite a bit.
So cool, Austin! Congrats brother! Keep up the great work.
Congratulations man ! 🍾🎉🎈🎊
Always enjoy your drumming, mixing , recording tips !!!!
Keep up the good work
Steve
Wow. Great kit, great sound, great lesson. CONGRATS!
About time you made it here! Congratz bro
Thank you for this ! Very helpful !! All the best to you Austin
Killing it! Sounded very smooth and locked in.
My ego had prevented me from subscribing to this channel and it was because subconsciously I was trying to avoid reminders of the kind of homework I ought work on in order to enhance my playing vocabulary and abilities to which I could then bring on offer to gigs and band band scenarios. Recently, I've been actively seeking material for earnest work which I finally now have the enthusiasm for and then so now only realised that I hadn't subscribed to this channel still! I've enjoyed these videos even through my stubborn period(private stubborn period though as outwardly I've always praised this guy and his absolutely top breakdowns) but only now subscribed meaning no more accidentally coming across this on my suggested feed. If any other drummer can relate to this, do subscribe, the resource this channel offers you when you come out of your rut is priceless! Have always enjoyed but avoided at the same time. But now it's time for homework so forget that past, covid wasn't fun but not a reason not to grow
Awesome lesson. Gonna try this
Thanks! I've been doing that for a long time in a Latin music assemble but never thought of the structure of it. It came naturally in some of my solos. Now that I'm going back to playing drums this video is definitively helpful.
As always, Austin, nicely done!!
Congratulations Austin!
This guy is great and does very good work and quality production. Nice one dude! ...Love the Weckl!

Great job working this out! ...and Dave just through that lick out on the fly... he's killin!

Weckl might be the best all around. He can do anything.

Austin, is there anyone you cannot clone. Mmmmmm. Terrific work as usual.
groups of 4 in eighth triplets with the sweeping right hand move yields half note triplets on the ride...great stuff!

Nice!
Dave the best Drummer .
Great series, a 60bpm first pass would be cool for future vids if possible?
I like the sound of those toms
Face at 5:43 - "fuckin nailed it!" :D :D
Q : do you know what a metronome is?
A : A little short guy from the big city.
God bless Y'all.
Sweet bro
Your toms sound freaking amazing! How did you tune them
Wow. I've been practicing on my practice pad but I think I. A kit is the only way. Even slow my right hand wants to stop when I do doubles on the toms. I have to find more of your work
