There are dozens of top drummers in the world... but only Dave Weckl wears the crown of the best in the world.. Dave is a genius but you need to be good enough to see it.
Exactly, you must be a very good and mature drummer to understand why Dave Weckl is the best of the best and he is getting better and better all the time!
It's just not fair that someone gets to be that incomprehensibly good. The smoothest high skill drummer that makes the most musical choices I've ever seen. The most annoying thing is he makes it look so easy like he's brushing his teeth. Weckl, the Zeus in the pantheon of drum gods.

Dave's touch is so great. fluid. Almost effortless. And his command of poly-rhythms is unsurpassed. They are his bread and butter. Very few can match his playing and endless creativity.
Dave Weckl is incredible. He is the master of perfection. Flawless, groovy in every context, dynamicly incredible, tone and musicality is...no words. He is for me the all time best. GOAT.

With so many amazing drummers out there I hate to pick a favorite, but Dave Weckl truly is the one that I love the most. His style, phrasing and musicianship is jaw dropping!
This is a Don Grolnick tune that Michael Brecker recorded back in the day with Jack Dejohnette on drums... great to hear it in a latin style. Thanks Dave! Beautiful interpretation and playing. To me Grolnick was one of the greatest composers of all time... great tune! A treat to hear The Weckl perform it. Amazing. Gratitude!

I've been a fan for decades. The reason why I'm even a musician is because of him. Awesome talent and I truly admire him as one the greats of our time.

Most musical drummer of all time, never a bad or meaningless note
One of the greatest musical performances by Weckl EVER! Every note, phrase, dynamic was pure magic! Weckl is such a force, super natural by all means! He is the best at listening to himself and others and knowing exactly what to play and when to play it. He is never boring nor does he loose groove when going from FF to pp. His playing is always fully on board even at the lowest volume his groove is at the same level of intensity. My favorite drummer of all time for sure!
Every performance of his is the best. I saw him on stage with Chick Corea and John Pattituci and 75% of the crowd is really listening to Dave Weckl being backed up two of the greatest musicians of the 2oth Century!

In the late 80's I kind of liked Dave Weckl's playing. Now I absolutely love his playing. He turned into a great drummer. What a tasteful smart player with off the charts skills.

This type of playing is over my head. But all i know is that it looks and sounds great. Its such a joy to just sit back watch and listen to Dave play. He's amazing!
There are a few drummers out there that are at God level, and Dave's one of them. Great recording job, too, about the best sound quality I've heard yet in a CZcams video. Listening with Sony MDR headphones, and the sound is beautifully clear, punchy, and well balanced.

I'm an old drummer that has seen and followed the likes of Buddy Rich, Louis Bellson, Tony Williams, Roy Haynes, Elvin etc etc. I have never seen anyone like Dave Weckl. Words can't describe what an incredible drummer/musician this guy is so I won't bother. Nuff said.

We all know how good is Weckl. But man, the band is AMAZING. Everyone of them! I would really love to see some comments other than "Weckl is a God".
There are a lot of truly inspirational excellent drummers around today but Weckl is "the man" there really isn't anyone alive today that can touch him.
Vinnie can and has surpassed him. I love Weckl, but Vinnie is super special. Just listen to this tune with Colaiuta playing it with Karizma. Or the Buddy Rich tribute. Both are extremely creative artists. Dave is inventive. Vinnie is an innovator.

Can you imagine Vinny playing this song… he’d be doing quads all around the kit like some American drummer… Dave on the other hand sounds like a one piece Latin percussion section… not even close

Many drummers can play well, rudiments, speed, phrasing, polyrhythms etc. How many play with great dynamics? Dave and I’m sure some others, but Dave is one that has impeccable sticking where the notes are even with both hands and so smooth that sometimes, even when he plays the symbols, you don’t hear the stick strike the instrument! He accompanies arrangements as though the arrangement centers around the drums! Anyone notice how efficiently he plays?

Genious, it’ s amazing. He played this song in an instructional video with Walfredo Reyes sr. “ drums and percussion working it out”. I bought this video from dci when i was 13 , during 1994 i think , and i remember my big smile and amazing face. I never saw anything like this ( and i think never will see). Dave the best.
