- čas přidán 4. 11. 2022
- Sharing a quick thought regarding range on the trombone, specifically high range, which is relevant to all styles of trombone playing, including jazz. Still a work in progress with single embouchure, but I’m enjoying the journey. Possible in-depth high range video coming in the future…would love to hear your own thoughts from your own experience with range!

What vowel sound do you use for those notes way up in the stratosphere? Is it still an O or does it become E. Just out of curiosity
@@28-3lead5 you're basically right with the "ee" sound, but there are some things you do with your body, jaw, lips, etc. as well to minimize tension (and movement) as you ascend into the higher register. It's like a big coordinated effort that at first requires some concentrated thinking (which I'm still at after some semi-recent adjustments), then like everything else, becomes automatic with time and regular practice. I played trombone for 9 years, still can just the chops are obviously gone. I was pulled down to intermediate band in high school to play tuba ad the soloist in that band for year. After learning valves, I actually rented a trumpet that summer to keep the chops tight! Helped immensely to figure out techniques across a wide range
Nice! I live trumpet, although noticed if I play too much (I’m not very good), my trombone sounds changes, almost brighter sounding.
