well spf is heavily recruiting people to join the force. The resignation rate was high. The job is not easy..
job not easy is one thing, they r being paid minimum wage and expected to work at long hrs, professionally wif no mistake. manpower low, so even if ur leave was approved, dont be happy yet, u might be called back for duty.
on paper it says 12 hrs shift, but do u now they have to arrive at their station at least 1 hr earlier, ot maybe 2 hrs earlier depending on ur shift posting. then when u end ur shift returning ur equipment and debriefing will take at least 1 hr. provided that before u end shift there is not last minute 999 calls, else u can expect to end ur work 3/4 hrs after ur stipulated end time. To top it off, NO OT payment, NO pay back of hrs u spent extra. If you end work after midnight, public transport no more, YOU PAY for yuour own cab fees, cnt claim.

On one hand, SPF is whining about lack of manpower and trying terribly hard to conduct recruitment to recruit public to join them. But on the other hand, they are still happily rejecting sincere applicants from joining the force as regular or volunteer. Even their own regular officer, wonder what is their own manpower department even doing. Ask any regular or VSC officers, any one of them will tell you names of those capable "NS" officers or even close friends that they met in life who can be capable police officer but yet get rejected, and those who manage to get in, can't even perform properly which resulted in them getting terminated or force to resign.

they have certain background checks to go thru, such as any bad records or is ur family not of singaporean, and some other miscellaneous that im not sure of, i have a fren who tried to apply SPF got rejected but when apply CNB, they accepted them ahhaha

A lot of times people just need to be listened to. With kind positive regard, understanding. Most of the time in listening the listener doesn’t have to solve the problem, just listen , probably just “mmm…hmmm…” , nod their heads, appropriate smile, no threat voice tone , body language.
