i stand in solidarity with you because i JUST got rid of like 10+ books i knew i was never going to reread or read for the first time and then i turn around and buy 10 MORE NEW BOOKS ??? i feel you gurl, i feel you...
it feels good to know i'm not alone 😭💖
Genuinely how was the discussion of eds in yolk "problematic"..? I used to struggle with one and I personally found Chois portrayal of it extremely relatable. I get that everyone experiences these things differently but just because you don’t relate to it doesn’t make it problematic. If eds are one of your triggers you shouldn’t have read this book
She's a 10, but she loves watching unhauls for self care 🤭
She’s a 12 because same
She's 10000
She’s a 15 💅🏻
Omg the hate for yolk my heart can’t take it…PLEASE if you didn’t read this book go form your own opinion and don’t listen to her😭 I highly disagree with her saying that it’s problematic and especially if you’re East Asian this will resonate with you, trust me. I don’t blame her for not getting it but omg this book does not deserve this kind of hate
watching you unhaul books is honestly a form of self care
Can you do a video discussing your disinterest in fantasy books now? And, talk about what your current favorite geners are and why? Im curious to know more about how your reading has developed.
frankenstein is a science fiction!! In fact, the author Mary Shelley is named as the mother of the genre so yes bella you do have a sci-fi book you love! 🥰🥰 also I'm sure piranesi-although can't be put into one box-is definitely partly science fiction ;)
unhauls are always so relaxing to watch!
i'm also considering unhauling a curse so dark and lonely. i loved the first book, but then the second and third books in the series went downhill. also i think i'd hate the first one if i reread it.
also (kind of unrelated), i'm planning to start war and peace later because of you
Good luck with war and peace!! 👀💖
The only one I’m a little upset about it’s I’ll Give You The Sun, I read that one for the first time this year and loved it so much! But I’m glad you originally liked it enough to want to re read it some day. I just love Jandy Nelson’s writing, it’s so weird and unique and I love it so much. But I support everything you unhauled❤️❤️
That book made my queer teen heart so happy back then especially in ya there was so little representation
I haven't read it in a while but it will always hold a special place in my heart for that point
Plus looking back at the ya genre most stuff I read was toxic or even abusive and people didn't even address it and I was to young
Not reading ya anyone but I'll give you the sun will stay with me forever
Unhauls are so therapeutic!! It's like letting go of things that were not for you. I love doing that in my bookshelves 🥰
I want to unhaul my ACOTAR books, but then again, there is something about hate-rereading them and arrogantly thinking to myself „I am an intellectual for hating these books as much as I do.“
so proud and happy for you that you're unhauling books and just doing it for yourself - no one else. i hope that you fill the spaces in your shelves with books that you love 🤩 can't wait to see what you get 💗
Unhauls are so nice, specially when you can give a book to someone that can/might enjoy it more than you! Plus, unhauls usually equal more books to buy and haul into the collection!
Glad that this feels like self care for you and hope you feel better! ✨📚
thank you so much 🥲💖
These are honestly so therapeutic to watch 😩And it's so interesting to see why someone might get rid of a book and how their taste changes. It's making me want to do an unhaul soon too even though I do them regularly anyway, and i love that! Just wondering how do you deal with the annotated books that you unhaul. I feel like it would be difficult for me to part with annotated books despite not liking them/changing my mind about them because I have personal thoughts in them. I am in honest need of some good suggestion as to how to bring myself to unhaul annotated books.
your video titles >>>
anyway your channel is one of my comfort channels
I’m so happy you enjoyed 🥺💖
All the books I unhaul go to my local used bookstore in exchange for store credit so I’m all about them! Making room for the things you love to take up space is such a VIBE ✨
I’ve been watching you for a while and decided to go ahead and say something. A Song of Wraiths and Ruin is an amazing book. When you say a beautiful cover doesn’t mean it’s a beautiful book isn’t fair if you haven’t even tried to read the book. I’m going so hard on this because she is a black author. The book has African mythology and history. It also shows a perspective of a black boy dealing with anxiety which isn’t shown in fantasy books ever. Now about the comment you haven’t seen anyone talk about it. Maybe you can look into diversifying your watching. Plenty black booktubers have talked about that book and the second one. I’m not saying you don’t watch diversely I’m saying just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. If you would have said I’m just not interested I wouldn’t have commented. Reading is subjective I totally get it. BUT for you to say, to your big platform, a beautiful cover doesn’t mean a beautiful book is dangerous when you haven’t even tried to read the book. To wrap up this long comment (I apologize), you are entitled to unhaul books you haven’t read. You are entitled to do whatever with your books. Reading is extremely subject so do you. It’s just not fair to the author and the community that benefit from those books to say a blanket statement like that. I’m still a fan, I love your videos and editing. Just thought I would throw out a different perspective
Yep you’re completely valid especially when there’s clearly people in the comments that take her word very seriously so to kinda undermine this book and author was a bit yikes when you can just say you don’t wanna read it like that’s all good! That’s okay!
And I don’t even read YA fantasy often literally just once in a blue moon so I get just having no interest to read it anymore.
@@witchreads I agree. And I meant no disrespect to her, her content, or her supporters.
@@witchreads totally understandable.
Completely agree! I read A Song of Wraiths and Ruin earlier this year along with the sequel and it was everything I needed in a fantasy princess world with African mythology. The book had so much depth and grief was a huge topic in the book and it just melted my heart. When she said the beautiful cover doesn’t mean it’s beautiful on the inside my jaw literally dropped😭
Only read what you want to read but I agree don’t comment on how good or bad a book is if you haven’t read it and you’ve simply just lost interest🤷🏻♀️
“It’s time to make myself happy and see what happens”! ☺️ Love this! And I love your videos!
You're such a comfy content creator. I'm so glad I found you😊
nothing more satisfying than downsizing/organizing !! honestlyyy, very therapeutic xx
1000% here for putting yourself and your happiness first ✨️ definitely yes to book haul!
I know I'm late but when you talked about I'll give you the sun my heart dropped for a second bc I thought you didn't enjoy it 😅😂 I first read it in 2016 when it was released in German and recently reread it bc I couldn't really remember how I was feeling about it (and I wanted to see how much my taste had changed) and when I first read it I really saw myself in Noah while on my reread I connected so much with the ongoing backstory with their parents and what was going on with that and it broke my heart again so it's still one of my faves of all time bc I just see myself rereading it again bc I loved the language and just the overall story and characters 💕 but that's the game, everyone has different tastes and it's totally valid that people get rid of or don't like books you loved but it's always fascinating to see what other people think about books you liked or vice versa ☺️
YEESS the queen posted, don’t bother me anymore, I’m in my happy place 💅😌💖
Oh my goodness i've had kafka on the shore on my shelf for years I really wanted to read it but now that you've mentioned that scene.... thank you so much for saying that fr
Murakami sadly never makes great woman characters mostly they are support characters or worse
Alot of their fans say you can look past that but honestly I can't anymore why waste my time with that regardless how good the rest is
I love unhauls they feel so therapeutic! The graphic novels you unhauled I classify as comics vs heartstopper which I consider more of a graphic novel. Maybe it's the style of a comic that makes it less enjoyable? Idk just a thought because I also struggle with comics but really enjoy graphic novels specifically children's graphic novels because they're so wholesome. I recently read Garlic and the Vampire and omg so adorable!!! Anyway hope this helps in some way. 😊🤷♀️🙈
You may be right 👀👀 I do love Check, Please which is such a cute graphic novel and the ones I unhauled do feel more like comics 🤔✍️✍️
life’s worth living when i see your videos’ notifications on my block screen
We love a self awarr queen. We love a queen who knows what doesn't serve her in the new era
I constantly change my mind on whether I want shelves filled only with the books I’ve loved or if I just want all the books so matter how I felt about them because ✨home library✨ it’s a mental struggle
Who knows maybe I’ll regret this in like two weeks 🤡🤡
I found your channel a few weeks ago with your annotating video, and lemme tell you... im staying here🙌🏻, ur content's sooo good💘. Also, i have started recently annotating after the advice you gave in that video, and my copy of The Cruel Prince is full of tabs now😅💞. Love this video btw, unhauls are very relaxing! 😊
I’m so happy you found my channel 🥰💖
My day gets better right after I see that there is a video over 30 minutes long on my watch-list, also I got lucky to not know or want to read any of those books aside from 'one last stop' and ' kafka on the shore'; the first one I wanted to read it but I am kind of thinking over my decision now and the second one I've read already it was okay but a bit disappointing for what I expected.
I’m so happy you enjoyed 🥰
YES BELLA! You uploading just made my morning 💙 Also, love your fit today!
omg i’ve been dying to get my hands on that edition of these violent delights 😭😭😭😭 i would gladly take that one off your hands 🥺
I wish I could send it over but shipping fees 🤡🤡🤡
I love your style. So unique!
finding ur channel for the first time and ur most recent upload happening to be my favorite type of booktube content has to be the universe telling me its fate
I literally love your commentary lmaooo gives me life
YAS OMG IVE MISSED YOU SO MUCH BESTIE 😭
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!
omg it’s been forever since i heard anyone talk about “i’ll give you the sun” !! i really enjoyed it when i read it back in 2018 🥺
I remember enjoying it too!! 🥺
Hi I’m a new subscriber! I’m honestly obsessed with your videos and you’ve motivated me to start annotating! I’m excited to be here and thanks for your videos 🥰
So happy to have you here! 💖💖
Finally♡♡♡I was starting to read a book, but when the video came, thanks for that pleasure
Great unhaul! Completely agree with only keeping the books you love around you.
Unhauls are so satisfying 😍😍 cheers to you curating your space ! We love that
The people I would fight for that edition of these violet delights omg
This just made my day! Missed you🤍
*takes out her books to buy list* I wonder how many books I'm not gonna buy anymore because of you ( I trust your opinion )
it’s also important to have your own opinions and brain really
@@witchreads ahaha ofc but what she said about yolk for example is enough for me to not want to read the book
Keep the list handy for the incoming book haul 😈💖
I love how honest you are, beautiful ❤️
PLEASE, do a book haul for all the new books you have bought
love that we unhaul just to add more books on our shelves ✌
this video title is everything ahahahahaha
I’m watching your videos now as therapy to de-stress my soul
🥰🥰🥰
I just want to leave here a quick note on Haruki Murakami. I read some of his short stories (and insanely enjoyed Sleep and Bakery attack - if I'm translating the names incorrectly, apologies in advance). It was such amazing reading experience, until I read Norwegian wood and even with so many good reviews, I was deeply disappointed. Maybe try picking a short story, I'm holding onto them as well and don't plan to read any other of his famous work.
It's great that you can get rid of books that you don't like them anymore for whatever reason.
(we were liars and all the bright places are the two of my favorite books.) I know how some of books can give you bad feelings. unhaul books videos are necessary to keep my mental health safe.
thank you for your being honest to yourself and us.
Big hug
I find it interesting that people forget the cat scene in Kafka on the Shore. I truly believed that Murakami detests cats after reading that traumatic scene.
It is why they say don't judge a book I like the fact that your focusing on your self your own happiness comes first and thanks for heads up on the kafta on shore I'm currently reading that picked it up only because it has cats and they talk
Sad to see I'll give you the sun gone but happy you're taking self care steps ✨
Girl you’re such a mood! Yess to the era of putting yourself first. 🫶🏼 I also unhauled sweet series this week with a lot of other things and it felt so good🧚🏻♀️
here's to learning how to prioritize ourselves 😌💖
I missed you🌷 thanks for the video and your never-ending honesty. i laughed a lot during the graphic novels part lol (i'm also not into them at all)
LMAO i literally have kafka on the shore right next to me as i'm watching this.... with a bookmark in it since 2017. I started over with the audiobook recently, hope i'll actually get through it after 5 years
Queen's back and doesn't disappoint. 🖤🖤🖤
ooou! The Beautiful quartet! that series is on my TBR. Think the 3rd one just came out.. and 4th/last one still to come out. I love a good vampire story set in the old old south! Gives me Interview with a Vampire vibes.
loved this video!! sweet evil is THE moment
So glad you posted I was missing your videos haha
Bella is here serving unhauls and life lessons when no one has even tried 💙
for real tho nice to see it, it can be hard to feel that is wrong to express opinions or understand that something is just not for you happy to see the new era 🌟
YAAAS SHE POSTED !!
Oh! speaking of Vampires.. Aside from The Interview with a Vampire and Dracula, my other favorite vampire story is The Delicate Dependency by Michael Talbot. You may be interested in it too, Bella? anyway you can check it out if you like ☺
It is not the usual story of the seductive predator on a killing spree .. more about the knowledge (and power over human knowledge) that is acquired from them living so long.. there is a bit of a mystery intertwined in it as well.. well.. a little suspenseful to me anyway given the atmosphere.. like is something else spooky going on? Who can you trust? What do we do with knowledge once we have it? Do we really ever have it?
I think it's from the 80s or something. I read it several years ago and loved it. Would love to re-read it soon... I'm gonna need a new copy though because mine is a really old used one and it's falling apart 😆
I think we should be more respectful when discussing books, unless they’re ACTUALLY problematic, because authors put their their whole hearts and souls into writing their books, no matter how bad they may be in the writing aspect.
In the case of Yolk, I will be honest and admit that I didn’t fully enjoy it (3.5 stars) but only because reading it just felt a bit off for me. I wouldn’t go as far as to insult it so much, especially when we don’t even know just how much work Mary Choi put into writing it.
That being said, I have seen seen countless people like/love it for its representation of East Asian identity as well as eating disorders. You may not have personally found it relatable, but many others did.
You also talked about other books in the same demeaning tone too. Calling books words like “disgusting” and “trash” simply because you didn’t enjoy the writing is not fair.
I love your videos and have been watching them for a long time, so I don’t mean to be rude. It’s understandable to not like a book, despite how much others do, and you should always be honest about that when reviewing it.
But you should also be very careful to not be this harsh and still be respectful in your criticism of books.
We all see from the start "Yolk" 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭but the scene with it was so dramatic, girl, i love you 🥰💕✊
Omg just what I needed on a rough day. Thank you for making my day ❤️❤️
I hope your day has gotten a bit better 🥺👉👈
When you put the Muse Wild... giiirrrrrl 👌🏽 *chef's kiss
Great content, beautiful glasses and mug. Sucesso nos seus projetos!!! Até logo 🙋🏽♀️
I can't remember what I read for too long, and if I watch an adaptation, I forget every single detail.
O que dizem sobre pessoas que leem conseguirem falar e escrever melhor não me contempla at all.
Missed your videos🥺💗
I love your videos and your vibe😆😍
Yay you're getting rid of "Yolk"😂😂
hiii, my friend is going to bring me a book and i was thinking something of junji ito (bc is very expensive in Brasil)... which do u recommend to start with?
I'm in a journey of catching up to your videos
I was watching the video where u read all of hanna's favourites books
But when i saw the notification i couldnt resistttt😭 i missed being earlyyyyyy💗💗
I hope you enjoyed 🥺💖💖
I love unhaul! I only have books that I really like and that I would reread.^^
ayo the bye bye birdie comment made me laugh so hard cause my high school did that musical and i haven't heard a single person mention it since 😆
Where did you donate your annotated books?? I am unhauling some books, including annotated ones but i don't know if a library would accept them.
Finally, missed you ❤️
YEAYYYYY NEW VIDEO 😍❤️
OMG WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS AH. 42 MINUTES OF MY FAV BOOKTUBER TALKING AB BOOKS AHH
I always unhaul my graphic novels unless I give them 5 stars cause I know I’ll never pick them up again 😅
honestly, unless the cover is 10/10 for me, book wise, it has to be a 7/10+ to stay on my shelves 😂
I've missed you so much, I hope you're doing well angel
Hi Isa! Thank you for reminding me I just lost my glasses and need a new backup pair. Sincerely, your blind friend 🫰🏻
"these bring out all my best features which are all of them". Yas queen.
This might sound stalkerish. But i love you. Thank you for existing Bella! 💜
thank you for watching 🥹💖🫶
brb going through my shelves to unhaul books
so glad i’m seeing yolk already right at the start burn itttttttt
It’s been TOO LONG 😤
Isabella, I think a cool challenge type video would be a latinamerican literature readathon. I’m doing emmie’s readalong of Cien años de soledad and it’s making me want to read all my unread Vargas Llosa, Volpi, Carlos Fuentes, Marcela Serrano, Allende, etc. And all the classic puertorrican literature they never made me read in school and is part of my history. Sometimes I get so caught up in anglosaxon literature that I miss out on my own.
I’d also like to suggest Machado de Assis, he’s a huge part of Brazilian literature and here we all read his books for school and they are just incredible (especially Dom Casmurro)
@@carolinbookland yess, I don't have any of his works in my collection yet but I DO have a couple of Sarmagos and Pessoa's Book of Disquiet in my TBR and I really want to get to them
@@mrodriguez377 i have to books by Pessoa in my physical TBR and i'm really excited to read them!
I looooooooove doing unhauls xD It is my kind of therapy
Hi! I recently started watching your videos and they’ve brought me so much comfort. I just want to ask if your discord server is a patreon exclusive? Thanks for making your videos!
🌱tbh, love to see this new throneofpages era unravel, like yes Bella, iconic 🙌
🌱Piranesi being properly displayed :bitelip:
🌱me acting surprised about y*lk
I need to unhaul the serpent and dove series as well 😩 The first book was the best and imo it went downhill from there, I don’t see myself re reading it at all
🗣 UN 🗣 HAUL 🗣
While I don't have a lot of books, but unhauling is relaxing to do.
Same. I love watching unhauling videos for that very reason
does anyone know where she is selling these?
we loooove a good unhaul
I need to do this
Can you tell me where is the reading vlog about yolk? I can’t find it
*sorry for my grammar
gurl i have just the same with sci fi
I just ordered the dead romantics, the unabridged journals of Sylvia Plath thanks to YOU, A magic steeped in poison which has just the prettiest cover and my first ever manga volume 😭 volume 94 of detective conan because well he introduced me to the anime/ manga world so I had to. 😂 I'm excited for them to get here.
One last stop was a little boring tbh. I liked the idea of it but I don't think it was very well excuted.
I’m so excited for you to get your new books!! I hope you love them 🥰💖
BESTIE DONT FEEL BAD I'M UNHAULING THAT BOOK TOOOODKFJKLDJ
THANK YOU 😭😭😭
Sooo does this mean we’ll get a reorganization video? Maybe one where you’re adding in your new books with all the space you now have?😁🤞🏾
Maybe 👀👀
Girl!! There’s an author who could be compared to the Brontë sisters & Jane Austen & she’s very underrated I really don’t understand why.. it’s Elizabeth Gaskell , my favorite books from are north & south … & wives & daughters .. north & south has the same hate to love trope just like pride & prejudice I can’t recommend enough!!
definitely adding to my tbr thank you
That sounds amazing!! Looking for it now 👀✍️
I really loved North and South 😊 one of the best classics i've read
I love north and south, I actually prefer it to any Jane Austen novel
