Not to set up any expectations, but Oda has been on a roll for a couple of years now; the last 60+ chapters in particular have been one insane banger after another. It's truly incredible how this story is over 25+ years old and still keeps getting better with every arc. Enjoy catching up while you can, nothing beats that first read through!

Heart of Stone was my favourite book of 2023!! I never read a love story with more perfect pacing, I hope you like it!!

Hi Bella, I am usually a silent admirer of your videos, but I felt the need to comment and tell you that you got me into One Piece :D I tried starting it several times but didn't get past 40 episodes. I'm so anxious about you starting mdzs😭 Is my favorite mxtx book and i reread it every year because I'm constantly thinking about wwx and lwj🥺 The world of mdzs aside them as characters mean so much to me, their love story is so special every time i reread it i find something new to kick my feet over haha. I understand when people don't *love* it like i do, because tgcf is my least fave and the general consensus is that it's her best novel, but mdzs is so important to me i always hope other people see and experience what i did bc is such an incredible feeling, to love this story this much is so special to me.

Same!! I’d heard about tgcf just from being a lurker on rhe internet but never really gave it a shot because it didn’t fully pull me in. Then I got covid (second time) 3 weeks ago. Decided to watch the tgcf on Netflix, loved it. Then found out that there were more series by the same author and found the Donghua on a members only playlist on CZcams and binged it in just under 3 days. I’m reading through the books now and I am literally obsessed. Having watched the donghua first it can make it a bit easier to recall character names, places and concepts. But I feel as though it’s one of those romance books where the love part is a parallel story to the main driving force of the narrative. The actual relationship has minimal affect on the overarching story, but not in a bad way. And the world building is so good.
PLUS, if you watch the donghua first you get an extra level of insight into the novel. Yes some things are spoilt, BUT, you actually get extra explanations, world building, character moments, character building and so much more with the novel.
I haven’t fully read tgcf (I for sure will), but I feel like there is a bit more freedom, you could say, in the relationship between the two ML’s, and a kind of cheeky innocence in the slow burn journey towards their realisation of their love (well…technically until they decide to burn that incense 😬😬)
@@ShinigamiMischief15 I saw The Untamed before reading the book and it definitely helped me recognize the characters and understand the jumps between timelines, but I'm hesitant to recommend a 30+ episode show just to read a 1k+ page book🤣 I didn't finish the donghua bc i had already read the book by then and didn't like some changes they made, but i would understand if people disliked the untamed for those same reasons haha currently i rather read the book than watch any adaptation bc my favorite moments aren't there😔 damn u censorship😔
I hope you finish tgcf!! Despite not being my favorite whenever i recall certain scenes i feel really happy, mxtx is just an incredible writer.
@@grff_ haha yeah I have the opposite view on the untamed haha, I’m trying to get through the show (I love it, but only during the less action moments, I just…can’t help but cringe at the slow motion and special effects etc). But for me there are things that they changed for the show that I don’t like either (yin iron being a thing is something I don’t like). But I will forever have a soft spot for the donghua, and I did like how they decided to just get all the flashback stuff out of the way in one shot, otherwise it’d be a bit too confusing for viewers. And seasoning 3 was way too short I reckon. But each to their own, we can agree though, the books are so good
@@ShinigamiMischief15 I am also watching the tgcf donghua and i like it much more, so is definitely that we have a soft spot for the adaptation we saw first😭 I heard mdzs is getting a Manga so i hope the manga stays true to the novel bc Japan doesn't have the lgbt censorship China does and hopefully it'll turn into an anime and we FINALLY get the adaptation that's true to the book

I've read the Heart's Invisible Furies twice, I loved following a character's life from beginning to end. Also, what a great title for a book.
What have I been doing while you were on break? I went to an anime convention, got a reward at my new job, and put down a deposit on a new apartment! I also read Mexican Gothic (loved) and am continuing One Piece (Usopp is now my child) I hope you are doing well Bella!

I'm truly amazed at how far you've gotten into One Piece, like it's honestly embarrassing what episode I'm on and I started months ago. Sunny really came through for the watchalong!
I get this (what I call) "anime fix" every couple months where I'll sit down to watch something and I'll start a new season of Demon Slayer and binge all the episodes in one night and then not touch any anime for another 2 months until I get the fix again. Like I really need to get back to JJK so I can finish season one! I will say I still find it difficult sometimes to get anime to hold my attention like a kdrama would so we're still trying I guess.
please don't feel embarrassed, everyone's speed is different and one isn't better than the other the most important part is that you're enjoying it 😩✊ i get the same anime fixes so you're definitely not alone in that!

I want to recommend you a light novel that might be right up your alley and that is Raven of the inner palace. We're following a 15-year-old girl named Jujetsu who lives in a very secluded area called raven palace.
