A watch is a slave's shackle. It means you need to keep track of time and can't actually do what you want, when you want. It's the most submissive accessory there is, along with the tie. And I haven't worn either in 30 years.

Comparing a useful, modern tool to shackles used to imprison slaves is such a horrible and poorly thought out take, because youre trying to create an equivalency between contemporary employment and slavery.
Heres some food for thought;
On one hand you have a low-level employee working in an office for a horrible salary and no benefits, they have to work overtime to make ends meet and still struggle. That would be the watch wearer in this example.
Now compare that to the very real people who are indentured servants, slaves mining cobalt, sex slaves, forced drug mules, child soldiers, and try to rationalize how they can even be compared. Slaves are often literally shackled, not metaphorically like the watch example.
Ive got nothing against you, but I hate with a passion the idea of "wage" slaves or priviliged Westerners claiming theyre practically enslaved because they have to work hard.
The difference is we have a choice, and we do get paid for our labor.
Please take the time to reflect on this subject because the message youre spreading is ignorant and frankly, it dismisses the real suffering that tens of millions of enslaved people have to go through day in and day out.

I worked with a guy who did time in San Quentin and he was the exact opposite of this insecure "alpha male" guy. He was very respectful, quiet, and hardworking, he was down to talk about what it was like in there and how it made him into who he was. In short, if you went to prison with the attitude that guy has, you would not last long at all. Respect is huge in there and it's hard-earned and easily lost.
