I was over there from Oz a month or so ago to attend an old school mates (Rongotai College) funeral and took photos from that very spot. Jeez it's a tight bit of road, especially on the Wairarapa side going down; some of the right hand bends where the prime mover has to drive into the turn-out then swing back again just so the trailer can make the turn without encroaching on the uphill lane. Excellent driving.

@2.27, were my eyes deceiving me or did i see a Toyota flat deck ute, overtaking a Scania B Train on the bend at the summit where i'm sure there are no overtaking lanes???? Luckily at the time there was no Wellington bound traffic heading South at the time.
