I was freaking out thinking this was the procedure for changing the BULB. This is for the entire assembly thank God.
Good stuff man, I changed both headlight asemblies in my 2012 prius no problem. One thing I would say is that complete removal of the front shroud is unnecessary, I just loosened it up so it would hang and the rest was cake. Couldn't have done this without you, thanks!
Okay, so now I'm sure that I will not be doing this myself now! Daddy taught me well, but Daddy also said I am worthy of paying someone to do this for me 😁😂. Thanks for the video!
Okay - so now I know why I pay my mechanic 160 bucks to do this. No, I will not be trying this at home.
Just did the work on my 2013 Prius after watching this video. Worked great! Make sure you have spare clips since the old ones get very brittle and break easily.
thank you for making this video. I have a prius thats in perfectly good shape but the lights have yellowed and clouded up from UV damage, I had a detailing body company restor them and install better HD bulbs but they still are not a as clear and bright as they should be so I might replace the whole assemblies
My husband and I were able to do this Thanx to your video! Awesome! Thanx!
You just saved me and others an exuberant amount of money. Thank you
Thanks for this video. Well-done and exactly what I needed.
cheers for the video. was very helpful for me to visualise what the disassembly entails
Thank you for such a great tutorial! Watched a handful of times. Easy to follow along as you're DIY'ing. Had no issues during install, even planned ahead with a pack of new clips and replaced all the missing and broken. 😸🥳

This is a fantastic video. It just showed me why I would rather put in a few hours O/T doing something I already know and have everything I need already
Thank you sir. It will definitely be a much easier job for me since I now know where all the magic access bolts and clips are.
Very thorough and concise tutorial!! Bravo! New subscriber.
Thank you so much! Super helpful!
Thanks for video. Wow, that's a lot of steps. I wish manufacturers would make the headlamps a little easier to replace.
Thanks for your help mate
Excellent video, thank you for sharing.
will be doing this soon
Thanks for this!

It is really a shame for the replacement of a headlight would require this much body removal ... etc ... The clip providing power to my headlights is broken causing the headlight malfunction Warning to come on. I can see the plastic clip but not sure how to unplug it - very tight quarters and IMHO should not be so hard 😢 One side of the plastic plug clip is loose but not loose enough to unplug completely. I just don't want to cause more damage. The car was in an accident 10/2021 and that left headlight was cracked and replaced. I am pretty sure they did not replace the harness since I am now having this problem. Just watching the trouble a tech has to go through to get to these parts brings tears to my eyes. Things do not have to be this difficult! Seems to me the "Engineers" who design these vehicles never consider maintenance ... God Bless
thank you so much
Very well done - Good jobs- I can do buy my self. My only problem is if I broken the plastic retainer and the light alignment is problematic because I don’t now de correct position. I will prefer to paying-Thanks for the video
Thank you so much bro💪
9:21 my bumper looks like that after accidentally hitting a curb, should I be worried? Please help
Will it crack the headlights?
I replaced both the rear tail light assemblies myself and was thinking of doing the headlights next...no way too complicated lol
Thanks
does the Prius headlight assembly have an adjustor?
Can I do it without opening all bumper?
Notes to everyone doing this; there is no left/right beam adjustment, also from 2010 to 2014 there was a manufacture's defect NOT RECALL, headlights prematurely burning out, there is a update part to prevent this
You had me at 18mm socket, I am happily letting Toyota replace ours :)
+Iamtheeggman00 Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Why did you need to pull the vehicle up to the wall?
to calibrate the angle of the headlights ... he gives directions based on 25 feet from the wall (screen showing the beams)
A video about headlight literally showed me how to put this front end together (not a bodyman working on a side project to paint) 😂😂
Wow. That is waaaaaay to much work
You don’t need to remove the bumper
Thanks for the video! I just swapped mine on a 2009 right hand drive. For that one (and probably for most other European spec ones) you'll also need to swap the headlight aim adjustment motor, I referred to this video: czcams.com/video/L8rEU0tOJYw/video.html. Other than that your video is brilliant, made the swap easy to do with a little bit of time on my hands (1.5 hours or so).
But Y ?
Oh my GOD!! Are you serious? Just cram your hand in there and BOOM...it's done. I suggest anyone watching this to check out other CZcams videos.
Now I know why it cost so much to replace the headlights jeez
If you're talking about replacing the headlight assembly, yeah it's a pain. Replacing a burned out main headlight bulb, though, is pretty simple. I've done it almost 10 times by now, takes less than 5 minutes. I'm an Uber driver, and I'm not about to let a pothole and a dead light bulb put me out of commission for the rest of the night.

@@wgtetz GEEZ - Maybe you can advise me on my Prius C problem: The clip providing power to my headlights is broken causing the headlight malfunction Warning to come on. I can see the plastic clip but not sure how to unplug it - very tight quarters and IMHO should not be so hard 😢 One side of the plastic plug clip is loose but not loose enough to unplug completely. I am pretty sure they did not replace the harness since I am now having this problem...and after watching this video (although very interesting and detailed) breaks my heart and I just don't have the heart to go back to the body shop that took such good care of me back after the accident. 😢
@@LindaEckertBallard go back to the shop that did the job originally. you paid them to do it right. Dont feel bad about that
Just remove the top , don’t touch bottom of the bumper, this video is bs
This is made to scare you ,so you go to mechanic… not so your self .. he is virtually popping everything.
