Why would anybody have any objection to jess and chris and family. there content is really interesting and i am pleased they are finding our country and countryside so enjoyable. some people have a bad day and just have to take it out on other people. @@DaydreamersBarn Just remember when you are dealing with large numbers of people, it would be statistically weird if you didn't have the bad outliers, the negative fringe, or sometimes people who have something to say but simply have a knack of going about it the wrong way. They exist to highlight the good.

For every one nasty comment, there are 1000's that are enjoying your videos, but it's those negatives poke out in your mind. Ignore them, the people that do them go round all the channels just for fun and because they can.

I've been to the USA several times, LA, LV, San Francisco, G Canyon, NY, Philly, Baltimore Washington DC. Have found you Yanks just as friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the differences, and was nothing like the way these cities were portrayed on TV drama. Wasn't shot at once 😂🤣

I visited Stonehenge back in the 80s, when you were allowed to park right next to it and walk amongst the Stones. I get why they had to change the access these days, but I think something is lost if you can't walk up to the Stones. Great post Jess. 👏🏻
That is what a couple of our friends said that it's kind of lost it's enjoyment because you can't go up to it as close as you used to. In Victorian times, when you visited Stonehenge they gave you a little hammer so you could chip off a little memento.
I remember those days when you could walk up to and touch the stones.

Salisbury, Bath, Bristol, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Weymouth, Lulworth Cove, Isle of Portland, Chesil Beach, Lyme Regis, RAF Yeovilton - these are all bucket list places to visit in the Southwest/ South of England (outside of Cornwall of course).

You need to go a bit further down the road and come to Salisbury ! The best Cathedral ,incredible medieval city, Great food ,fantastic charter market twice a week .

I visited Salisbury for the first time last year and the cathedral and I absolutely loved it- I’ve not been in such a magnificent building in my life… got to see the Magna Carta and then we had lunch in a lovely pub in the town- highly reccomend this place even just for the magnificent cathedral 👍

Just a suggestion...you travelled the roads through the Norfolk Broads, have you considered stopping at Horning or Wroxham and rent a "dayboat" and cruise a few of the rivers, I promise you won't regret it ( you'll also find some great pubs and food along the riverside). Once again I apologise for the few haters that have posted in the comments, sadly there are people who wait to take some kind of offense and post their vitriol to gain some perverse pleasure.
We have wanted to do the dayboat rental, just did not know where to rent it from. We will have to look into that because it is not too far of a drive. Thanks for the support with the haters. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Morning guys , I was down your way last week
I joined up with my son and grandsons and went camping , we stayed on a really nice site on a farm just by Sutton Hoo
I was one of my bucket list things to do, it’s amazing to think that Saxons could produce such fine armour and jewellery but the biggest shock was being told that some of the things dug up had come from as far away as India
It’s a NT site now and well worth a visit as it only about an hour and a half from you , but pick a nice day as half the place was closed off due to the high winds , camping in 47mph winds is very noisy 😱😱😜😜

I don't usually read many comments but can't believe there have been nasty ones. There are some very sad folk who have nothing better to do than to try and bring others down. Please ignore them! I remember going to Stonehenge decades ago when you could actually still walk among the stones. Avebury stone circle is nearby, and you can still walk among those stones. It's an amazing ritual landscape about which we are still learning. Hope you enjoyed.

Skip (dumpster) comes from the germanic saxon/norse word sceppa / scep which meant a basket or a vessel for carrying. After the great vowel change in Middle English it became skip. Interestingly the sk in norse is pronounced sh. Hence skip is pronounced ship in Scandinavia. A Viking boat was a langskip.

Sometimes Parish or county council funds work, it depends on context and usually hire a local farmer to do it.

Hedges, which are mostly hundreds of years old, are the responsibility of the farmers who own them. The council will keep the road clear but cutting and shaping them is down to the farmers.

Sadly Hungerford is remembered for a more tragic reason in the UK though it did lead to gun ownership changes 😢

Not seen any hate comments, but I didn't watch that recent sweet tea video. Your drive-along videos are relaxing to watch! Once you mentioned tank crossing, I assumed you must be near Salisbury Plain where British army does manoeuvres.. Main touristy thing near there is Stonehenge.

By the way - I don't know when you were in the region but Avebury isn't too far from Stonehenge and is, in most people's view, a better place to visit. You can get right withing the stones...
At Avebury, not only can you walk among and touch the stones, but you can have lunch at the pub right in the middle of them!

Wessex isn't a county but more of a region consisting of a number of counties in the south of England, especially Wiltshire and Dorset. It was in Anglo-Saxon times a kingdom, famously ruled by Alfred the Great (and the basis of a drama series based on books by Bernard Cornwell ) .

If you like Stonehenge, you should visit Avebury. A stone circle so big in encompasses a whole village, and you can touch these ones!

@@DaydreamersBarn You are very welcome. I just remembered that Wood Henge is also on the vicinity. As you would suspect, it is an ancient circle of wooden pillars, though sadly the wood has long since rotted away to be replaced with small concrete posts to indicate where they once stood. Unfortunately, the only thing wooden at Wood Henge that day was the tiny twig the dog found. Some people are underwhelmed by Stone Henge: They clearly haven't been to Wood Henge.

When you comment about ancient castles cathedrals and churches, just think maybe some your ancestors as well as mine may have had a hand in building some of those structures as a lot of villagers and townsfolk had to lend a hand.

Thank you for the video, I do love the combination of ancient sites and Farmer's markets. You probably won't go to these places but in the Hebrides there is the spectacular Callanish Stones, well preserved and older than Stonehenge by a couple of thousand years. Also Orkney has the prehistoric village of Skara Brae and in Shetland there is a 2300 year old Pictish fort 'Broch of Mousa'. Broch (rhymes with Loch) is a traditional stone round-house fort which could be found around Scotland at the time.

Jes Chris and family Hungerford is a stunning place but sadly it has a very sad past that has stuck with the town! Back in 90's and young guy went out with some guns and the result was many people IE Villagers ,the local policeman and some elderly neighbours even his parents were sadly shot as he walked around the town taking pot shots. Clearly this was a very sad day for Hungerford and many dear souls were lost as a result! He was eventually surrounded by the armed police and took his own life! Ever since then this sad event has stuck with the town of Hungerford. Another great video and well presented thanks so much for sharing!

Don't worry about the haters guys... There are trolls everywhere on the internet... It's their only joy in life... To bring misery to others for their own warped sense of gratification... Just ignore them and they'll soon move on to trolling someone else... The rules of the road when approaching a roundabout... Are that you must always give priority to traffic coming from your right... We could see from your footage that the white van to your right was indicating left... But he didn't move... As he had to give way to the vehicle to his right... The vehicle to his right should have waited for you... As you were to his right... If you were further back from the roundabout... He should have entered the roundabout first... But once they hesitated and you then entered the roundabout first... They should have given priority to you... So you actually did nothing wrong here... It was the fault of the driver to your left that had pulled out in front of you when you had the right of way... The white van turning left... Probably waited even though he could have entered the roundabout first... Partly because of his slower acceleration... And probably because he saw the car to his right much later... Due to another white van blocking the view to his right.

Ignore the haters, they are just very sad individuals who need to get a life. The only source of "pleasure" (if that's the word) they get in their pathetic lives, is the hope that they can provoke a reaction and a feeling of upset in you - they're just reptiles who are not worth anyone's time or effort. But unfortunately it's unlikely they'll ever stop trolling you. As for Council Tax, as sure as summer follows spring, council tax WILL rise. Local authorities are ALWAYS pleading poverty, but somehow always manage to find six figure sums to pay their executives.

Another cracking video guys. I agree there's a lot of magnificent parts of the USA to visit. Takes a bit longer to get round them than doing sights in the UK of course. Sorry you're still getting the morons trolling you - saddos everywhere these days. Stonehenge is great and if it ever picks up weather wise, it's a nice walk down from the visitor centre (but the bus is definitely a must in poorer weather). You were not too far away from Hampshire and the Devil's Punchbowl which is another interesting viewpoint.

A second comment. When I was younger it was considered definitely 'fringe' to believe that the megalithic sites had astronomical functions, but now it is widely accepted. A Roman author (Posidonius?) quoted in a later one, said that Apollo the Moon-God visited a spherical temple, not far from the sea, every 19 years.
This is a very funny time-period, but it may relate to the astronomical fact, known to the ancient Greeks and Babylonians, that eclipses recur every 18.6 years. (The 'saros' period.) Even better is the 'grand saros' period, 56 years. (19+19+18.) Or 18.6×3. Mysteriously thete arr 56 evenly-spaced filled-in holes ( the 'Aubrey Holes ' ) round Stonehenge,
Remember Stonehenge's famous alignment at the Summer Solstice, or even better, at the Winter Solstice the other way.

I strongly suspect there are those who watch CZcams videos with the sole purpose of finding something to be unpleasant about. They must have very sad lives, finding no good in anything.
Stonehenge itself is not particularly impressive until you think of the neolithic culture at the time and begin to wonder what the surrounding landscape must have been like.
The first farmers, replacing the earlier hunter-gatherers and how the time anything took to make, must have been of less importance than the way we think today.
You are right, people seem to have nothing better to do.

If you are still getting hateful and nasty comments, just be happy that you are giving those unpleasant twits “something to do”! 👍🏻😄😂. Think how truly bored with their lives they would really be, if they had no one to insult! You are giving them a little job! And they should be grateful for the employment!
Seriously though, as many have said and as I have done before, those vulgar and rude comments are made by someone/some people who are just JEALOUS of what you have and what you are doing! They are just sad nonentities who have nothing in their lives to write about, so just troll those that do.
My friend, I completely agree with you. They do not like seeing someone else have fun! You know what? I laugh just knowing that I can gripe someone's a** that much!

Ignore the trolls. They live very sad lives and look for anything to criticise. If they don't like the videos, they shouldn't watch. Those clouds are depressing but it does look as if the sunshine won't be too far away. I think that Stonehenge is not really worth a visit unless you are going to Bath. You can see it from the road without the need to visit the visitor centre. It has gotten too commercialised.

Council Tax is a very fraught subject in England at the moment. I'm very hostile to the presrnt Conservative Government, whom I consider to be protecting the extremely wealthy from being taxed. Therefore they have slowly starving our local authorities of funds, bevausr Government subsidies are important to keep them running. Thus at the moment Councils are being forced to raise Council Tax, because the subsidies are going down and down. Then the Government insinuates that this is all the fault of the local Councils.
Do remember that Stonehenge is not the only megalithic site in Britain; there are many others. Other commenters are right to suggest Avebury (north Wiltshire) to you. Here you can walk right up to the stones.

Just outside Hungerford was where the Hungerford massacre was in 1987, when Michael Ryan shot and killed 16 people. Which led to radical new gun laws in the UK.

it's all I know about the place, and probably the only event people will associate with Hungerford.. same with Lockerbie.
@@niallrussell7184 a lot of stuff is associated with Hungerford apart from Michael Ryan . It's fantastic for Antiquing , it has a recorded history that goes back further than the Domesday Book. WilliamMarshal was born and lived outside there (Hampton Marshal) .
