- Ann has been rummaging through her studio seeking new and interesting ideas for textures. She found 5 (or more) fresh texture ideas that she thinks you will love! Ann also offers several projects as a way to demonstrate how these new textures might apply in the real pottery world! Enjoy friends!
Answers to questions we get all the time:
We typically bisque to Cone 04 and fire to Cone 5-6
Ann typically uses Standard English Porcelain no. 365 unless specified otherwise in the video

All of these were cool to see. My favorite method was using the stockings. Those textures are gorgeous.

I would never have guessed that the foam could transfer texture that well! That's incredible. Even learning that, my favorite thing was seeing the twist in the clay from bellying out. It happens every time, and it's just 'invisible'. Love love love that concept. Thank you for sharing!

I think the dotted texture works great for accomplishing a good strawberry texture. Also, with the yellow color is like we're watching the bee from inside the flower 😄

Hey Ana! I tnk you are so right about the not only the strawberry, (which I hadnt thought about before) but also the bee inside the flower. I was thinking the same thing like the yellow with the dots looked like the head of a sunflower, right. Thanks for posting. Happy potting to you.

No way! I love these ideas! I was just thinking about using my Cricut to cut some stamps for underglaze painting and then you show me this! You guys are brilliant!❤️❤️❤️

Dont give up! Hopefully there is a community studio nearby that you can work in. Also, you can do a lot at home or in an apartment in a small space doing handbuilding projects and/or using air dry clay etc!

I really like the rubber band technique, I bend a paper clip to make an inpressed scalllop motif.

It was just small star-headed screw driver but you can use a needle tool etc. Thanks!

hey Carol. Thanks so much!! I appreciate that. Actually, the white glaze is one that I make myself, but it is a standard white "liner" glaze that most community studios have. I have the recipe in the description under the video if you would like to make it. It is actually my most used and favorite glaze.
How thick is your craft foam? I love that idea
Hi Patricia. The craft foam I used is the standard craft foam sheets that you can purchase in any department store that has a craft section. I didnt measure the thickness. They aren't very thick, maybe like between 1/16th and 1/8th inches or so. Im sure you can come up with more ideas than I did 🙂
Hi Ann. Do you know how long the craft foam imprints last on the foam? And are there better and worse foam products?
I'd like to capture textures from nature - specifically from barks, etc found while traveling. This seems like a great option for doing just that.
I have only had the ones I tried and they are about 10 days old now and seem to be holding up. I think you have an interesting idea and would love to see how that works out for you!
if you hit your foam with a heatgun it will open up your lines even more

Hi, love these videos on texturising clay. I note you wearing your engagement ring... you really shouldn't as the clay will remove gold from the band as well as the claws around the diamond, making your diamond loose in the setting, your diamond could fall out.
I know, I took it off once and forgot where I put it. Found it a week later. I did have the mount reinforced to hold the stone in better. Frankly, it might be zirconia so I'm not too worried. Jim is notoriously cheap but has a huge...heart... 😂
@@LittleStreetPottery ....Melody, Im sure you can tell, but Jim wrote that, haha. he is right though that taking my ring off is much more of a threat to me losing the ring than wearing it and i did get the prongs reinforced so I am not worried about losing the diamond that way.
