Thanks for the shout out, my brother.
My boat has been repowered.
I am supposed to get it back tomorrow.
New Suzuki 200.
Thanks
Send me a picture when you get the motor on!
Hi Chief: quick story: Several employees I worked with before I retired, came to Ramsey from UPS. My goodness the stories they told were not very flattening of UPS. There tales of trucks backing into the docks ready to be unloaded. They were packed so tightly with parcels, a worker could reach up, pull on a parcel, and an entre wall of packages would tumble out of the truck and land on the concrete terminal floor. This pulling down of packages was a common occurrence on every shift regardless of the size or weight of any parcel, this went on daily. Some of the packages we would send by UPS ground could break your hand, ankle, over your leg if it landed on you the wrong way. They were very heavy. /He talked about heavy parcels being tossed around like so much trash. We were told FedEx was pretty much the same way. Not good.
Yeah itâs sad, some bean counter somewhere probably short manned them, so they probably have to use any method to save timeâŠ
@@shotslife Thanks for the reply, again. Yup, I agree with your assessment.
We all need someone like you in our neighborhood. Get back to đșđž
Thanks brother! I try to be a great neighbor.
Not a Grady in my case but I am here for inspiration and encouragement, and thank you for both!
Thanks brother, I was looking at you bee videos, interesting, a couple people in my neighborhood are trying, a couple times they have swarmed off.
@@shotslife they do that :). Thereâs another hobby idea for you.
Really enjoy your travels thru the unknown.....
Thanks brother!
I needed a new gas tank for my boat. I have patriot doing mine and i told them I found them from watching your youtube channel.
Awesome man, thank you, those guys were really good to me, and they do a great job, you will love your tank!
You're ahead of me on my 1984 Grady White. I'm still taking out the rotted wood in mine. I've got a Grady White Tournament 243 bow rider that I'm rebuilding. Got the new gas tank and a transom bracket for two Yamaha 250HP outboards. My boat has two gas tank coffins, front and back, 90 gallons each. I'm only using the back tank area as 90 gallons is $300 worth of gas. Can't wait until I can re-foam the areas I've had to dig out to replace rotted wood.
Thatâs awesome brother, if you send pictures Iâll throw them in a video. People love to see what others are doing!
@@shotslife Actually, I've got a CZcams channel at Regors Garage & Boat Basin. There are about 80 videos on my projects. My wintertime project is the Grady White in Florida. My summer project is a 27 foot Wellcraft in Illinois. Those are the two Playlist I have that are currently active.
Peace, Love & Luck! đ
Well, that explains why you have such great craftsmanship skills... you are a retired enlisted guy ; ) I shouldn't bust on Officers since I was one for 20 years, but I started out my career enlisted as an aircraft mechanic, so I have skills, too. LMAO. Boat looks fantastic.
đ yep Iâm retired Enlisted..hands on kind of guy!
The boat is looking great. It has come a long way since you started. See you next week
Thanks đ We are getting there! Hope you have a great week brother!
The foam can be fun to deal with. Temperature, humidity, along with a bunch of other things can impact the reaction. On the positive note, less chance of the boat sinking! Glad to see you're out of the hole, although my money is on you cleaning up the foam in the middle channel. Have a great week!
Lol, yeah it was crazy, the first time I used it I was all cautious because I thought it would do that! Hahaha, I sure got a good chuckle out of all that for sure!
@@shotslife looks like the new batch is open cell foam first poor is closed cell foam closed cell is what you need
Just stumbled across this and pretty much binged the episodes in the last week. one very minor thing that caught my attention, in the episode about the dock pole, avoid catching the top rail with the pole, it will bend in strong current or winds. If it has to be the rail, catch it low near the gunwale. preferably catch the outer edge of the davits (Not the middle hole). you are doing a great job. I never comment on videos, but have enjoyed watching your progress and looking forward to watching the project as it moves along!
Good advise, thanks for watching! Itâs been an education for sure!
That is going to be one strong boat much stronger that the original with all those layers great job!!
Thanks True American!
Super cool watching the foam though, wow!
Hahahaha, it was crazy!
Another great Video Chief, good job on the Foam.
Lol, thanks bud!
Great job
Thanks BassNeck!
Damn Shots! Looks Great!
Thanks Yuuuuuup!
Thereâll ALWAYS be something to fiberglass! đ coming along brotha! Canât wait to see that shiny fuel tank put in only to cover it up! Lol and that goes for the rest of the hard work youâve put in under the deck. Once youâre done no one will even know the boats been worked on đ jobs like these really are a labor of love! Cheers!!đ»
Hey buddy, your right about that! But we will both know we have worked on our boats, feels good!
@@shotslife youre right about that! đ
đđđđđ
Do gotta Do, that is awesome Kevin đ
đ
If it takes đąyou all day to get something done because youâre a nice guy to the neighbours and are protecting your property as well, then thatâs a good day indeed. Glad you could keep them from damaging the place. Hate for them to crush the asphalt any!! Expensive mistake on their behalf. Heh heh.
Itâs really fun seeing things come together. The closer to the final coats, and doing the final coats, you get, the faster the work goes as well.
Glad the floatation foam went in!! Better to have it & not need it, than need it and not have it!! As Iâm sure you have heard many times in your life. Even on my small boats, I wonât mess with the existing foam flotation. I see people customize Jon boats to bass boats and cut out most, or even all of the foam,,,, makes me cringe and worry about their safety.
Excellent that you are inspiring others!! Bet you didnât expect that initially!! Nice!
Hey brother, are you all snowed in now? Yeah you need the foam in my opinion. Yeah, I would caution anyone to follow my direction but I do like that I would inspire anyone to try⊠in my experience starting is the hardest step, I have always found that if I put my head down and move forward Iâll be just fine.
@@shotslife - We had some snow here, but Iâm far enough south in the province we have had a couple of days around +7 or 8 C (45-47 F above zero) and the next 7 days fit that type of forecast. Itâs called a Chinook here, other areas have different names, but it nice here all the way down into Northern Montana. Some nights will be above freezing even. A nice break because itâs not over unfortunately. Fall stays longer up her by about a month vs 40+ years ago and spring is up to a month later as well. NASA call it a polar shift and one other description, but itâs over my head!! Hahaha!!
You take care, Eh!!
Okay your getting closer...with the boat.
But where have you gotten on the coach.
Install the latest and greatest, heat and ac one, whisper quiet.
Your going to have to start sending monthly bills to the association.
Or pay less on your part...Good man ,good neighbor.
Hey brother, yes Sir Corvette and Bus videos are coming especially as the weather gets too cold to work, I should catch up on my editing!
Love the cap
Lol
I have the exact same one over here in the UK đ
That sucks it went off on you like that. I have had some issues at times with the foam also and is very temperature sensitive and the batches are not always the same it seems. I think the humidity plays a role also. Finicky stuff. Now, would be a good idea to trim it flush and coat with some resin to help reduce water sitting in the pores. I see Grady did that on my floatation foam and when I have had to rinse some mold off in these areas, the water does not go down in to the foam due to the coating it seems. But, that is some work for sure. A drywall saw or wood saw might work......
Interesting idea, I didnât know you could put resin on itâŠ
Yeah, perhaps you might have to shave it back just a bit to not hinder the draining in the bilge.
You're getting pretty darn good at that fiberglass!
Thanks brother, any building updates?
@@shotslife Still trying to clear the liens, judgements and back taxes! Can you remind me and send me the link to your roof wrap material? How many rolls did you go through and a rough cost?
www.ecofoil.com/products/double-bubble-foil-insulation-white-foil-6x125-750-sq-ft
The link is what I used, I got mine through a local company⊠honestly I canât remember how much I used but it was a lot!
It looks great Shot. The extra foam doesnt matter at all
Lol, yeah it doesnât but you know I want it to be neat!
I know, the inner satisfaction make it feel great đ
...lookin' good , should be fishin' this summer...lol.. keep safe and well amigo...have a great week...
Well Bob you have been saying that for a couple years now! đ I hope we are!!
@@shotslife .I'M SURE YOU WILL PREVAIL...LOL..KEEP SAFE
Lol
First
Iâd trim the foam to get it off the bottom of the bilge. Donât want it sucking up water.
Yup, thatâs what Iâm thinking
After watching all your videos for so long my money is on you are gonna clean the center out
Lol, yeah probably so!
Nice work on the boat, the floatation foam went crazy but it works. Once all the fiberglass is done then the gas tank going in?
Thanks
Tim
Hey Tim, thanks man, yup get that front wall in, 3 coats of fiberglass, cut the floor, resin it and drop in the tank! Weather temp is the biggest factor now.. just have to find those temp breaks.
I would like to see the episode where you are completely finished and ready to sail... would you sell the grady white?
Me too! I havenât decided about selling it, I love it but it takes up a lot of room in my building and is a little big for my lakeâŠ
When you get around to your two engines and you need any advice or guidance I can help you out. I have been a certified Evinrude Johnson technician for the last 48 years. I have owned a boat repair shop in Texas for the last 26 years. I am also a BRP dealer. I am thoroughly knowledgeable with every aspect of the old crossflow V6's that you have. I have enjoyed watching you rebuild your Grady White.
Holy Crap! What a great resource! I will keep you in mind if I hit a snag. Can you send me an email to Ammoshot@gmail.com? So I have your info?
man shots you just won the lottery. Congrats on this contact! Etecfan thank you!
Your not kidding Roger!
when will you upload the other episodes of the boat repair
I make the videos as we restore the boat, usually put one out every other week on that project.
The GW is looking great! One thing Chief, when I see you kneeling without knee pads, it makes me cringe. I finished concrete for nearly 40 years and wore them religiously, and my knees are still in good shape at 74. It only takes one little rock to mess your knee up for life or a long enough time that you will seriously regret it. PleaseâŠ.
40 years doing concrete, your a beast! Thatâs some seriously hard work!!
Boats taking shape but I was just thinking about the Vett. Isn't that wedding it supposed to be ready for getting close? By the way the boat is looking real good (except maybe some of the flotation foam ) !
Lol, you got it, I have got to get moving on the car!
great progress is the fuel tank going in soon?đđđ
That's the plan!
It must feel that you out of that hole..
Now for the big question, when you get to the dual outboards, do you think you will spend more or less on them than all the materials for the fiberglass?
Less simple tune up ! Plugs , wires ! Water pumps , gear oil !
Good question, I think the motors will be cheaper, definitely should take less time if I get some warmer weather soon!
Is your shop heated? That foam just blew up. Been looking at the same stuff and they recommend 70 and above. Also was that a half gallon per side? Replacing the floor on a fish and ski and looks like your doing a great job nothing easy about that...
No, not heated I have little heater there but it was probably right under 70âŠyup, one gallon per side.if you want me to show your boat send me pictures, people like to see what others are doing!
About the flotation foam: Leave it. more is better than less. Regardless, no one will likely see it until many years have past. It's all good.
Lol, I couldnât⊠youâll see
@@shotslife Thanks for replying sir. Yeah, the foam cut out worked very well.
Nice job sir.. what tipe of f/g are you using in you boat
1708 biaxial from total boat and thank you!
I got a question can l use woven robin over woven robin?? Two layers for my transom and thks you sir..
Thatâs a really good question, Fiberglass woven roving are bidirectional fabric made by interweaving direct rovings by a textile machine, Its two-way reinforcement material is compatible with unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy and phenolic resins, and can be used as an adhesion between their layers.
Fiberglass woven roving are the material of choice for applications such as insulation, protection, construction and repairs. Woven roving fiberglass has great flexibility, making it suitable for all kinds of bending and flat surfaces.is widely used in chemical industry, boat and car building, construction and other industry. I would say you could but you would want chop strand type material to for adhesion to the wood surface before the woven rovingâŠ.. Iâm no expert though!
Ok.
đ
You failed foam class
Lol..lmao
Hahaha a big fat âFâ
