- This was the first time Pentatonix ever performed "The Lucky Ones Medley" live (that I am aware of). The way they transitioned into "Daft Punk Medley" was really cool too, so I couldn't bear to split the video up!

If anybody else is gonna be like "matt's not a bass he's a baritone" imma lirerally beat the hell out of them
Well, he is a baritone who sings in the bass range. Scott is also a baritone who has a different range - higher versus lower. But, I get your point. Most of the time when I see people point this out it’s because they are still butt hurt that Avi CHOSE to leave the group. Matt isn’t Avi - he brings different talents to the group. I hate the comparisons.
Matt literally fits the written musical definition of bass as per any orchestration/ arranging book or the definitions they teach you in music school. He’s not a basso profundo like Avi but he’s still a bass. You don’t have to be a basso profundo to be a bass. I think that’s where people get confused. Technically he fits the description of a baritone too, but we’ve heard him sing significantly lower (pretty sure there was a B1 in their most recent Star Spangled Banner arrangement) than G2 which is usually listed as the lowest note for baritone. His highest, non falsetto notes definitely go into baritone range though.
@@cellokimmy - Thanks for the clarification. For me, I love the bass line for every original and cover for Pentatonix, so I usually try perking my ear a ton trying to hear the bass in these live performances with Matt.

@@jcs1025 he is not though. Matt is not Avi (thank God) but he literally is a bass. His range is literally the same Avi had at that age.

I know that the US version of the masked singer is filmed way ahead of time but how far ahead exactly? PTx is on there right now but obviously on tour as well! lol

I have heard that the entire season of the Masked Singer has already been filmed.
I think that show is filmed over a course of a month, if not less, and I think it was filmed during December/Winter of last year.
Pentatonix was on tour for most of December, so if it’s them, it must have been earlier or later.

Was the beginning, The Lucky Ones, a little off or is it just my ears? Sounds like someone is off, possibly Scott. In fact, having listened to more, sounds like Scott was possibly sick or just having an off night. His mic seemed to be louder than the others and the balance wasn't great. Don't hate, just being honest as in used to pretty much superb sound quality from these guys.
At around 3:40 when he started singing Easy Love, he sounded a bit off too 😅
The one thing i noticed about them is sometimes they lip sync or they have a background track playing with them
Yep, you’re right on that assessment. They been doing tracks and lip sync in their tours since 2019.
they are using a backing track during the songs and that kind of sucks and makes them not really A Capella anymore which was one of the things that made them so unique but it doesn't change how talented they are its just a lot of us pentaholics "fought" to show people that it was just them and their voices and had to "prove" it and now they are going in a new direction that negates that. oh well i will still enjoy it just a bit sad.
it sounds like Matt busted the speakers or something bcz the bass sounds awful on daft punk medley.
I guess you didn't see him repeatedly trying to adjust his earpiece before this. Those are critical for tuning. They were all off on Daft Punk but no one was awful. Geeze. You're admitting he was low and powerful, yet finding other criticism. With some, he'll never satisfy. Glad he just performs and has fun with his PTX family.
The first show of a tour always has a few wrinkles.
You're right, it is amazing he went back and learnt all the bass lines for the Avi-era stuff so that they could still perform it. Man's talented AND dedicated. (I assume that's what you meant to say, anyway. Seems a bit lost in translation.)
@@carolynl.higgins6206 I read it as the SOUND was bad,not Matt. That something with the output or pickup of recording thhe bass made it distorted. Not as a comment on Matt singing. I might be wrong
There has been only one other Pentatonix performance in the last 10 years that has disappointed me but these opening medleys were pretty bad by Pentatonix standards in my opinion. I don't know what the problem was but I'm glad they got whatever the problem was fixed as the concert went on.
