E-bike Winnipeg July 12, 2024

I'm rather apprehensive about riding my e-bike now, since it broke down on me the other day. But I think the problem was the controller had overheated because I had gone a long distance and the weather was very hot.

Hi Ron, glad there doesn't appear to be something really wrong with the bike. Would be good to try and get around the same time/distance just so you know whether it can or can't do that anymore. Least then you'll know the limits should it fail again. You just need to prewarn your son that you may need picking up!
I expect it was more to do with the 30+ degrees than something degrading on the bike. I know you said about perhaps looking at some ventilation for the control unit but I guess it needs to be sealed just in case it rains. I know you don't ride in those conditions but in case you do get caught with an unexpected downpour it could cause far worse problems.

Hi Barry,
I'm not sure, but I think it was an overheating problem. I think the controller got too hot and shut everything down. I don't think it had anything to do with the battery. but I could be wrong. I'm no expert when it comes to E bikes. 👍
