RUSSIAN BALL PIPING TIPS are weird... so are their designs. I'm not sure I love them but i made some pretty cool designs for a first timer.
Get the RUSSIAN BALL TIPS here: amzn.to/2qGhuEF
Note: these aren't the bigger set I ordered but this set has all the ones I used. I don't really think you need the rest and this was a much cheaper option!)

These tips seem to work better with a whipped cream than a buttercream frosting
makennnzieee true
makennnzieee zhe should do an other one with whipped cream
Lisa Den Bode she should but maybe she would not
Italian diva I guess but maybe she is not reading our comments
Italian diva I guess
i definitely think you should do a retry with a different icing of a different consistency.
Totally agree. I think most of the 'problems' are down to the frosting
Jón Kristinn Nielsen if you lift more as you twist you don't end up such a crater of a hole in the center at least that worked for me. And yes a rather stiff buttercream works wonders.
Maddie Schwimmer i agree
right, my spouse and I were saying the same.
hi
i heard that too thick of a frosting leads to that lifting problem you were having :) i think some people suggested something like a italian merginue frosting

You're not meant to lift as you go with the ball tips, they aren't meant to create "height". Instead, you keep the ball low throughout to allow the icing to spread outwards rather than upwards. Then finally, use the other flower tips and create a single flower in the centre where the whole is. Hope that helps x
I tried the way she shows in the video it didn't work out, I'll try it your way, see what happens.
That's what I was thinking too
"some people find a hole in a cupcake as a flaw to me it's just a opportunity to add candy" best sentence of 2017
My Mom nos
2020 Now
I know this video is from 2017, but just in case anyone still reads the comments, the hole in the icing is not a flaw. It's for a plastic doll upper body. I found images online. After you put the doll in, you use regular tips and "dress" it with ruffles for the bodice and dress straps. They actually look pretty cool.
For cakes it's ideal not that much for cupcakes
I don't- I don't even bake, why am I watching this?
I bake and I will not be watching this woman again! She really pisses me off!!

@@lauraballantyne1418, bc, he/she wants to ok? You don't be rude.

I think the icing was the issue not the tips :(
I agree
The consistency of your icing is very important, you want a nice fluffy buttercream, and I found that the warmer it got the harder it was to get a good affect so I chilled mine a little after I got it into the piping bag.
you can buy it from www.aliexpress.com/store/product/42pcs-set-russian-nozzles-ball-leaves-rose-tips-and-Cake-Cream-Decorating-Disposable-Icing-Pastry-bags/704072_32814583370.html?spm=2114.12010610.8148356.1.5aa85e98EdazFr
sooo true
Same i agree
there is nothing wrong with the tip it is your buttercream
Yes, I think the buttercream is too stiff, it wont release properly from the tip.
Damn

I think you’re better cream is too stiff
yes thats what i was thinking too

Wouldn't the frosting stick better to the cupcske if you put a small layer of frosting straight on the cupcake first?
No she just needs to make the icing thinner and it will stick
thats what i was thinking too
Yes it would be better.
@@meganishere yes they both would help
I purchased the ball tips and I love them. I used a cream cheese frosting with them and it worked really well.
Kaleena Gaines I once ate a huge chunk of cream cheese frostin but ever since then my mind is terrified of looking at it and eating it 😂😂
I'll have to try out with cream cheese frosting! I did a demo video a couple week back and used buttercream...which has to be really thick in order for the frosting to hold. How did the cream cheese hold up?
Sweet Tooth Cupcakes como faz para curar essas bico
I want some so bad
Kaleena Gaines , which set did you purchase ?
I love my Russian piping tips, I got a set that had the flat ones and the ball tips. The ball tips make really pretty flowers as well as using them like she does in this video. I keep buying more sets cause I just love using these tips they make decorating very easy and quick. They take some practice but once you get the hang of them they are so easy to make great flowers. I am getting the ruffle tips next waiting for them to be delivered from amazon. I have found a stiff buttercream works best but a smbc works good too as long as it isn't too soft.
The frosting is too thick!!!! The tips are fine, I’ve used them! Thank you!
the buttercream was too thick
lucy dragneel it shouldn’t be play dough consistency 🤓
Are you supposed to use the Russian flower tips to fill the holes?
wickedfiress i don't think so, but it's a great idea!
I have made the small flowers with the Russian tips on to a piece of parchment paper or waxed paper then put into freezer. You can take them off and put into to hole in the frosting
wickedfiress. I hadnt thought about it :0 wooah

wickedfiress
I did see another person use these tips and she did use another tip to fill in the holes and it looked great! Also she used a different type of frosting, something not as thick and dry.
The tips are amazing. I own my own bakery and use those ball tips all the time. It’s your tip choice and your technique that lacks. They save time and I get so many compliments at how pretty and unique my cupcakes are.
Do you ever use the balls ones without twisting the tips? Especially the ones she shows which have a small flower opening at the top of the ball.
The tri cuppler is meant to be used with three seperate bags that are then connected together.
Everything from the walls to the bowls to the llama figurine, and course the cakes... is so psychedelic... Eye candy it is! The colors are bursting i love it.
With the tips that have a flower or star opening at the bottom you have to twist and lift at the same time. The opening at the bottom won't do anything if it's squished into the cupcake all the time.
CrimsonVipera THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING THE ENTIRE VIDEO! I'm like this lady is bashing these tips because SHE doesn't know how to use them! It was driving me crazy so I had to read the comments just to see if anyone else noticed besides me and thank God you did too I thought I was the only one who realized this.
I agree about height but don’t think you need to twist those at all- the flower in the center is meant to be piped out straight like a flower only piping tip. The way the openings on the ball are shaped should make the icing ruffle back on itself anyway:
I think your frosting was too stiff.. you should try with cream
Don't they have air-conditioning indoors in Australia?
duchesswannabe yes we do, using cream is no different then frosting, its not gonna melt just cos its Australia,
duchesswannabe 😅😅😅😅
I have those tips, and if it isn't stiff enough it just flops over XD
those tips also don't have frosting coming out of the center, so it's even more crucial that it stays stiff

these tips are great for beginners!!! they give you effects and textures without the need of any special skills or efforts!!!!
That frostin screwed everything
What about piping around in a circular motion like a rosette rather than twisting? It would eliminate the hole in the center.
Sig Fam these are fakes that's why they aren't working
i was thinking that maybe she could have tried many things and _then_ filmed this? xD
that's a great idea, btw. :)
"these are fakes that's why they aren't working"
No, they're not working because the frosting is too stiff AND she doesn't know what she's doing.
SeikiBrian have you watched any yt videos on how to properly use them because I’m rlly interested
Hi MissMXoXo. Yes, I've seen a few. This one goes really fast (it's a combination of several other videos sped up), but I think you might find it interesting because it shows both ball tips and flat tips: czcams.com/video/3HYz-rfzrCs/video.html
I actually liked these a whole lot better than the flower tips. I LOVE the rainbow effect you did too! SO pretty!
i work in a bakery and have use this tips for about a year. in a very busy seasons it is super helpful with a quick flower making. instead of a high pipping and filling it with a lollies or stuffs i fill it with contrast colors and it made a perfect "carnations" style flower. just add leaves pipping on the side and it looks just as beautiful as a roses with petal tips.. just little words to make more varieties for cake decoration.
Russian piping tips👌🎉👏 ha! wonderful! hugs!!!!
Wowwww 😶
So pretty! I want some! I have the Russian flower tips and they work great!
Pinch of Luck Sweets well no
I love how colorful your kitchen is omg!!! That fridge! 😍
Omg I love all the pipping tips. They make amazing designs and I also enjoyed your last video. They were beautiful flower cupcakes
The second tip and colors would make an awesome unicorn cupcake! It would be cool if you made your own take on a unicorn flavored cupcake with the frosting!
just curious... if thats the first time you opened it, shouldn't they have been washed before use? 🤔
Thyllis Claire Bayani I'm pretty sure she doesn't eat the cupcakes
Thyllis Claire Bayani they're more for the show I guess
It's also possible that with all the cutaways during filming that she did wash them, we just didn't see it. ?
Marie Myriam What has world hunger got to do with not washing a piping tip?
Lexi Battisson she is saying it doesn't matter if she didn't wash the tips before because she is not going to eat them any wise. Not talking about world 🌎 hunger
I just ordered me the Russian ball tips I'm so excited about trying them thanks for sharing that it's always an great opportunity to add candy 😎
From the first second I knew that I would love this channel and I subscribed
If you want the "straight dollop" to work, you should squeeze the bag for longer, and it will naturally ruffle itself! ❤️❤️
thank you as always for sharing.
I purchased the same ball tips a few months ago like the ones you worked with on your video, but I have not piped with them as of yet. However after watching your video, I'm going to use them very soon. Thank you for sharing you're experience with them.
By the way, I have subscribed to both your channels. I can't wait to watch all of your previous videos. 😊
definitely the consistency, ball tips work great with a creamier icing like a meringue or even a thinner buttercream! you still made them look fantastic though
is anyone else suddenly really hungry
Hannah L I'm eating Doritos
Hannah L No, because... I'm always hungry
Hannah L im hungry for cupcakes xD
Yes
Hannah L nah I just ate dinner
I wonder if it works better the longer you work with it/if the buttercreams at a slightly warmer temp
Anand I found that warmer my icing got the harder it was to get a good affect, so I chilled mine a bit after I got it into my piping bag, it warms very quickly from your hands at least for me anyway.
All right. I'm convinced. These look worth picking up.
These are my most favourite! I really didn't care for the other tips as much.
There tricolour coupler was designed for three individual bags to be coupled together. Remove the three seperate pieces and insert into bags as you would any icing tip. Fill the bags then they reassembled in the coupler. Less messy, much easier to use and gives defined colour changes. I have been using the tips for a while now and yes I agree there are way to many tips that don't make a significant difference to the outcome. In saying that, they come in handy if you want the same swirl in a different colour (or colour combination) without having to go to the mess and trouble of emptying the bag and removing the tip. The fun with using different tips is the experimenting.
she understood how that worked, she just didn't want to do it that way. She explained that in the video. She likes a more mottled coloring and blending when she does three colors.
@@jkahl1985 Except later she used it incorrectly.
So are these supposed to leave a hole in the middle?? I need to know.
A tip on making things easier:
When you want to have a rainbow effect I use this method. I make all the colors I want. Then I get a square of plastic wrap and make a 3/4 inch wide line down the wrap with my icing to about 8 inches long, then using a different color make another stripe on the wrap right next to the one before. Actually if I am doing a lot of cupcakes I put all the colors into separate pastry bags and pipe the stripes on the plastic wrap. So now you have your frosting in stripes on the plastic. Using the edges along the long side of the stripes and bring them together so you now have a cylinder. Twist both of the ends to seal in the frosting. When you are ready to pipe have your pastry bag ready with the Russian tip. Take your tube of frosting, cut one of the twisted ends, slide into the bag getting that opened end all the way down to the tip. Pipe away. When you are done or need more frosting you pull the plastic wrap out. If you are not too messy your bag is virtually clean except for the left over icing in the tip and you can replace with a new plastic wrap cylinder.
If you want to make flowers with say a yellow center make a 4 by 6 square maybe 3/4 inch thick of frosting then run a stripe of yellow down the center. Bring up the long edges to make the cylinder, twist the ends. Trim one end and put into your pastry bag with the tip and when you pipe the center will be yellow. Works especially well with the tips that make a stamen in the flower.
You can make your icing cylinder as big as you want. I have hot hands and do better with smaller amounts but this method keeps the bag cleaner and doesn't allow the colors to mix together too much.
Seeing this done is much easier than describing it.
For the tri coupler u need to use individual bags and try to lightly butter the tops of the cup cakes, the iced butter cream will stick better and also have a color base for any middle holes
Love these for soapmaking!
Does anybody else find piping satisfying??🙋
Ana Salas meh
Ana Salas sorry me lol
I've never set foot in a kitchen to cook and here I am binge watching some lady who came up on my feed.
???????
I love both your channels. Haven't got a chance to explore it all, But I think I can learn a lot from you
So interesting and creative tips! I'm not a big fan of buttercream but your cupcakes seem so cool!
Keep it up!

I think the trick is to not stop squeezing so soon as you lift to cover the hole.
Oh hell nawww
I just used the Russian tips for the first time. Had a bit of a problem with the frosting not wanting to let go of the tip! My flowers had a longer top but the kids won't care. Thanks for your videos. Sincerely Shirley Rhoda from Holland Michigan.
okay this is my first time watching this and i already love it
Yay! Welcome to the channel 😘
I've been waiting on this! thank you!!
love the design of the last one its so pretty
If you sit the bag into a glass it makes it a lot easier add multi colors. I done them in rainbow for a special event and they looked SUPER. I done them in 7 colors in one ( larger) bag. Once the tip and are set up just drop into glass were tip just touches the bottom of the glass. Done them for a fund raiser like I said for a special event they sold for $3.00 each and sold all of the in first half hour and had made 144 of them.
I love the colors that you used! The blended really well
The Icing was too stiff, but the styles was nice
I'd love to see a video seeing if the effect you get from the ball tip can be duplicated using regular tips.
Katy Martin possibly.
You have make best Russian ball tips cupcakes ever I have seen
Lovely! And OMG I was thinking about the spatula-frosting color mismatch when you mentioned it 😂🤗

Too cool! Love the pastel colors you used!
I just saw these in the store and thought hmmm should I get these? I am still in the fence as they look more problematic than easy breezy. I can achieve most of the same designs with my current tips but it might be fun to create some new ideas. Love your colorful background. Very tropical. Thank you!
what if the hole in the middle is for a flower? Like the ones you pipe with the other tips?

I actually really like that idea! 😊
What if it is for a cherry
It’s like choosing my favourite children.
😂😂😂
The last three were soooo gorgeous 😍😍😍
I was so sad when you put away my fave piping tip!! I was happy to finally find a ball piping tip video but I wanted to know the name of it
this would be perfect for someone like me who hates piping cupcakes. Im just not good at it.
I believe you're suppose to use the floral Russian piping tip to fill the center hole
What floral
I knew a recognized your voice. I used to watch this channel when you still had that green board. Now you've grown so much as a baker! Ah, good on you Elise!
Those colors are amazing!
They all seem the same
But then again what do I know?
I don't even know how to bake
Same 😐
So yummy 😋👍
Those colors are like a unicorn affect or a pastel party, the princess theme also works, or just a plain birthday party when you want to do some fun colors very nice.
I love the Russian tip videos!!! Keep it up!!

I see the hole In the frosting as an opportunity to add candy 😂

the frosting on the last piping tip is so cool!! i love that each little wave turned out to be a different color😱
this is perfect you could use these tips and then the last tips for the center

my favourite part was the PASTEL COLORS!!!!!! It looks so COOOOOOOOTT!!!!!
Omg! I love them! I have one of the simple one to make roses

I wonder if twisting the bag in the final direction while not squeezing would close off that hole.
I love your videos and your accent keep up the great work
Oh my goodness you upset my OC D. LO L. I am new to your channel and have been binge watching all day. Thanks for all the awesome information that you provide and the time that it takes to do it. Take care and God-bless Deb
The ruffled sides and the rainbow makes it look like those sour rainbow candy strips
Can you Plz do the ruffle piping tips I can't wait to see them
Im thinking of getting a full set of decorating tips. Ive never tried cake decorating, but i always wanted too, and even if i only use it once a year for my birthday, it would be worth it.
