OLG WANTS TO PLAY BUT DOES NOT WANT TO PAY. THATS A CRIMINAL MAFIA
👍
That's the government at it's finest.

@@BluntedZephyr So what exactly is your point?
They don’t ask nothing when you buy the ticket except if your want encore but here comes the questionnaire when it’s time for them to pay
I buy lotto tickets and the cashiers always tell me to keep the receipt with the ticket for this reason.
Just like insurance companies. When they get the payment, there is not question. As soon as it is time for you to collect something, they will ask you 1001 questions.
No one makes you buy it either. Stop complaining like an ignorant fool. @fredguy2188
Ridiculous reason for not making payout for not remembering where you bought ticket if you have more than one. Also silly to keep receipts for same reason. They know where you bought tickets 😮
@@patricialabbe1416 At least make it a multiple choice so we can remember but I guess the less they pay the better like insurances
The only proof requirement is your signature, a lottery ticket could be a gift and the hold has no idea where it was purchased or any order details.
Exactly 👍👍
especially when you switch stores frequently..how the hell I'm gonna remember where I bought the ticket?
That's why when I buy a ticket I never wish to win big, I'm happy to win between 100 to 500.
That's because of all the SCAMMERS!!! Mainly from the store owners and their families!
You didn't think that through.
Oh yeah
Yes.
i think that is the case also...how does someone not know where they bought their ticket?
As we saw in so many instances in the past.
What does it matter where you bought the ticket. You’ve got the winning numbers. Omgosh!! Just ridiculous
OLG screwing this guy over a small ticket is sickening. they know when and where it was bought. and can look it up.
so i can go print out a ticket that has the jackpot winning so i can claim it?
@@butwhytharum if you have a photo copy of the winning ticket you can claim it but you might not get the money if the original ticket shows up.
@@mikeohagan2206 when does the winning ticket show up?
A year from now? 2 years? How can I claim it but not get the money if it shows up 3 years from now? That doesn't make sense. If I'm claiming it I get the money now.
@@mikeohagan2206 You'll get nothing if the original shows up, that's the reason they delay for anything unusual. In this case if someone came out and said he stole it & knew where it had been purchased (like had a receipt or credit card statement) they could figure it out.
But there is no other claim, so they should just get over themselves and pay it out.

READ THE RULES DUMMIES.
Hmm... so the OLG was dragging their feet past the year deadline so they could legally void the ticket... how wholesome.
No. Once a claim is made there's no time limit.
NOW: Why can't OLG just visit the store, get the video of the purchase and presto! No issues? They don't need to wait for a claim, they know the next day.
@@5Cats Thanks... I didn't know that. Their response should have been more professional.
@@CanadianSmoke YW and absolutely they have not handled this well at all. Unless there's untold factors? It should have been resolved within 6 months. 4-6 weeks is normal, actually, but forgetting where you bought it makes for delays.
each ticket has retail terminal ID number printed at the bottom.
Just go to locations you might have bought the ticket and see if the # matches?🤔
I’ve found that sometimes they update the machine and the number changes. If you go to the same locations often, write down their ID number and check it once in a while.
What if you live in Niagara Falls and was out visiting in Ottawa and Smith Falls where you might have bought lottery tickets 7 months ago. In the interim, you might have also bought in Mississauga and or Barrie or Orillia? Perhaps they should only sell tickets on line only where at least they can trace the IP address? Oh, but wait what if it was you child that bought and he was a 12 year old instead of you or your ex- wife who divorced you and while on the way out the door, saddled your credit card with the thousand dollar purchase not expecting a windfall?

Store video surveillance would confirm.
Retailers get a percentage, so they obviously must know the retailers..
If the ticket has been authenticated and there's no one arguing the ownership.
But who can remember what other products they bought at that time
A lottery ticket is not an everyday item, so it is easy to remember where he has purchased it if he purchases it is easily recalled if he has not had amnesia
I buy tickets everywhere and don't know where each ticket is purchased.
Keep ALL your receipts! It isn't that difficult, you're keeping the tickets, right?
@@5Catswho gets a receipt when buying from a lottery booth?
@@mj24672 Um, I work as a cashier. I offer receipts to everyone who buys lotto. If they paid with a card it's not important, but cash? Ask for a receipt.
when you become a senior, a ticket seller may tell you that you win a few dollars and you are more than happy but the ticket seller then goes to claim jackpot. are you happy?
I check my tickets so when I go to the clerk I already know what to expect.
Why lottery sellers names are not printed on lottery tickets or why is not compulsory for selling agents to put their stamp on tickets?
Because the tech to make that convenient would cost OLG money to implement.
@@user-yg1dg6xm2g Actually OLG incorporates the Terminal ID in every ticket purchase and by going to each location you purchased a ticket from in the past during that period you could theoretically track down where, when it was purchased. But to find that terminal for a thief is hard to do.
All that information is known by OLG, they instantly know exactly where and when: they want YOU to know it too!
Keep your receipts, or use a debit or credit card. No issues.
theres always a catch
Nope not true
Tell OLG to check the store # on the tickets, A holes.
OLG knows where it was bought... they need the winner to confirm the location to verify they are entitled to the prize. Suppose your winning ticket was stolen and the bandit tried to claim it.
@@barbandsargethat would be your problem because you let someone steal it.
@donnicholson3170 ... dear .... you missed the obvious point.... the bandit would not know where it was purchased and would not get the $$. That's why they have this practice of verifying the location of purchase.

Log full a crap when you have a ticket for so long how can you remember where you bought the ticket, what olc needs to do is revamp the lottery,
No its working just fine for them.
It's irrelevant WHERE he bought the ticket!! The fact is he HAS the ticket! They don't tell you it's required to to have a receipt,
It is relevant. OLG has a security team that calls the store where the ticket was purchased, they ask for video footage and/or a receipt from the exact date and time it was purchase to verify the claim. I'm guessing the store can't verify it.
I've been to variety stores that refuse to give receipts. If you don't make it clear you want one before you pay, after it's rung up, they act like it's impossible to print one.
It's always possible. I went to circle k,and she crumpled my receipt. I then said I wanted the receipt. She printed me a new one. So it's possible.

I tend to agree. Not a huge prize no reason to not pay this out except the ol' nickel and dime-ing.
The moral of the story is, as with everything, obtain the receipt for the purchase no matter what the item is.
I suppose it is to prevent stealing of lottery tickets

@@steveatlas3492 No, that would just show the cashier all the time :>
But every single store has security cameras. OLG should get the images asap, not wait for a claim. They know exactly where and when it was sold, eh?
I sometime take months to check my tickets, and there is no way I would remember... you are allowed up to a year to cash in a winning ticket... who remembers where they were months or even days earlier!

A receipt is not REQUIRED, it just makes it easier for you to answer all their questions. If it was required, then the machine would automatically print one for you to take with you.

I do. In fact, one retailer told me that they now require receipts for proof of purchase.
This type of things happens all too frequently because OLG and other Governmental organizations can't demote, lay off or fire incompetent or negligent employees. They could all wear the same t-shirts that postal workers wear. The caption on the back say "Fire Proof".
It made me so angry that during the pandemic they pushed the lottery everyday.
And those parasites who were selling those disinfectant wipes for $20 a pack
Isn’t that info on the ticket?
Yes, but they want YOU to know. In case of another person making a claim.
There was no one in this case, so they should have paid it out long ago.
Buy online!
You show up with your lawyer when you go to collect your winnings. You'll see how fast You'll get your cheque
OLG knows exactly where it was purchased and to the millisecond at what time.
Yes, but they want you to tell them so they can "verify you're the owner of the ticket". It's not a mystery that's trying to be solved but rather a matter of proof, which in the case of a [relative] meagre $1k price is basically just "any excuse to not pay".
The rules are stupid, I won 6/7 numbers and deleted number before the last one and I got paid only a $1000 but it said 6/7 numbers you will get pay $100000. Not correct to trust.
I won $1005 last year on 649. Went to the Casino and they cashed it no questions asked.
A lesson for lottery players, ask for a receipt from the distributor and attach proof of purchase to your ticket (s) also claim your winnings early. Don't give up!
I like the receipt idea
Just don't staple the receipt, to the ticket.
Use a paperclip.
yup, Ive been doing this since my last winning ticket 💯 they almost got me
A lesson for lottery players: Film every meticulous step. Record yourself selecting numbers, entering the store (location documented, of course), and capturing the suspense as your slip is processed. Don't skip filming yourself writing your name on the ticket and proudly holding it. If it all meets OLG's high standards, hey, you might just find yourself with a nice check!
@@user-yg1dg6xm2g Don't forget to declare your love for OLG!
then they should have the store machine number on each ticket
OLG knows exactly where and when: the moment it is sold it gets tracked. They want YOU to know in case someone else makes a claim.
There was no other claim here, they have no excuse for not paying it out.
Theres definitely more to the story...
Perhaps he is a store owner??
OLG get a hold of yourself, happens to me, I buy tickets all over the place, I cannot recall where I buy. This is unfair to ticket holder. OLG is not CISS of is it?
If he legitimately found it blowing across his lawn it’s his ! Myself I buy at at least 3 different places regularly but randomly might pick one up from a strange city , gas bar or wherever if I’m travelling. They know where it was bought, it’s identified by a number on the ticket. Only a small part of me feels sorry for anyone who might of lost it . I recently found a pull ticket for $5 prize. I took it the Walmart where I found it. They wouldn’t cash it because it wasn’t purchased there, two other lottery retailers gave me the same line. Im visiting in Alberta right now. I hope I don’t win here , maybe I just keep the $10 in my pocket so I can get risked being screwed closer to home by the OLG
Sign your ticket. Keep your receipt. Know where you purchased your ticket or purchase from same place.
No need. Store I.d. is on the ticket. Olg is scamming this guy.
So the takeaway is, always write the store where you bought the ticket, on the ticket! Sign the ticket immediately after purchase....but wait, don't do that because it'll mess up the lottery corp. Friggin legal mafia, right there.
The store I.d. is on the ticket, no need.
No, don't write anything but PRINT your name on it (and address and stuff on the back once you win big, ofc). Keep the receipt, it's that easy. Or use a debit or credit card, that gives a record of it too.
Imagine being Walmart with no paper work or trace for the inventory it holds and assets this would be an issue well how is this any different?
3 years ago, I decided that after having bought tickets for 43 years spending more than 100,000 dollars and having won twice about $500 I was better to stop buying them.
the goverment must be involved.
For those who are unaware. It is unrealistic to not remember where you were on the date/time printed on the ticket. Ticket fraud has been happening for years. U walk into a variety store and get told you’re a loser/your ticket lost just for the clerk to try to steal your prize and claim the money for themselves. Something is off here for sure even if that dude isn’t fraud he needs his brain checked medically.
This is scandal !!!
I buy tickets all the time from difrent places.
I don't check right the way.
Also I have serious problems ...
I do forget things....
I am talking with my doctor about those things...
So I will not get the price if suddenly I am a winner ????!!!
I'm an olg retailer and I can verify that when someone wins over 1k, they have their security team investigate, they call the retailer who sold the ticket, ask for security footage or a receipt of the exact date and time. They know he bought it.
It's simple store owners can not win at their own store.. Buy tickets elsewhere. In the 80s a store owner won twice on a friend's street.. Ya right
Owners no, employees yes. BUT keep the receipts! And don't sell it to yourself, let another cashier do it. It's all on camera too, I don't know why OLG doesn't just look at that.
If OLG don't even wants to pay $1200. How can I trust there are no frauds in the game?

I’ve always insisted on getting a receipt and remember which store I bought my lottery ticket. The claim online was quick and easy, way faster than claiming at the OLG centre. Last year I claimed online for $5500 and within a week, my cheque arrived in the mail, I did have to submit receipt of where I bought it, and my id etc when filling out the online form. The OLG brings in over 500 mil in revenue per year. Are they telling me that they can't create a system that shows the exact location and time a ticket was purchased? Banks have a record, why can't they?
it may help avoid ticket selling stores from getting a ticket and then giving it to someone to claim the price but giving the original winner (maybe a senior) a few dollars.

Always ask for a receipt and don’t accept a receipt printed out by the lotto kiosk but a receipt printed out by the debit machine

Like dollar bills have serial numbers, wouldn't there be a tracking/serial number for the vendor and lotteries in order for accounts receivable and payable? Wondering if they credit interest to consumers/winners?
This could simply be avoided if when you by lottery ticket it should be by law to have receipt stapled to a ticket? I have went trough this more than one time here in BC and that's why I allways get my receipt when I bye ticket and tell everybody to do that for this reason. They also ask you if you are ask sole owner of the ticket and what was the method of payment (cash, debit, credit) and all that information is on the receipt.
I drive a truck and buy them EVERYWHERE. I didn’t realize that was an issue.
Completely
he probably found it in the garbage at his variety store
Olg also asks the name of the store ticket was purchased at, and the two major intersections of the store.
Receipts can fade so make a scanned print of it but put ticket, store receipt and your copy all together in one envelope. I have had Canadian tire, shoppers drugmart, Walmart etc receipts just fade away after a month or two those are some kind of heat roll not actual ink printed.
If you win, even though you get a receipt. Write down where you bought it, the time and what you were wearing and how you paid for it. The more info the easier the process.
I bought so many tickets every years and sometime I don't check them til months later. do you think I remember where and when I bought them from?
