A fire damaged a one-story commercial building in North Hollywood today, but no one was hurt.
Crews responded to the Dollar Deluxe at 12020 Victory Blvd., near
Laurel Canyon Boulevard, just after 1 a.m. and encountered fire coming from the building, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The bulk of the flames were extinguished by about 2:10 a.m., and a
knockdown was declared about an hour afterward, the LAFD reported. Some firefighters remained on scene, dousing hot spots.
At one point in the battle, a crack in the facade of the building
created a high risk of a collapse, prompting the incident commander to pull firefighters out of the business and assume a defensive stance, fighting the flames from outside the structure, LAFD Capt. Cory Weireter said.
The 8,111-square-foot building, built in 1957, had a ``significant
fire load'' due to the large amount of contents inside the structure, the LAFD reported. A total of 99 firefighters were sent to the scene, Stewart said.

Great job by the LAFD in fighting this vicious fire! The video coverage made me feel as if I were standing there watching. Thanks for sharing! Stay safe!!
Shelby, thank you for the kind words. We're honored to be there when needed, and appreciate photographers and videographers kind enough to share their imagery of LAFD in action.
Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,

I live very close to this place, and it was truly the go to spot for some of the greatest deals around. You could literally go in there with twenty bucks, and walk out with fifty bucks worth of things. The owner must have had a serious source, where he would get the merchandise at pennies on the dollar. One example is he would stock up on Giradelli chocolates of all kinds and sell them at a ridiculously low prices. They had name brand house whole items, clothes, furniture, food of course, and just alot of stuff. The only down side to the place was it's size. It was only about 1000 square feet which was way to small for all the stuff they had, and the owner would bring more and more stuff in all the time. For the amount of stuff in there, the place should have been 5000 sq at a minimum. Before this fire, they had many isles that were blocked off with just pallets and pallets of new items, but obviously did not have the shelf place to put everything on. That in itself would be a fire danger, and I wish the owner would have realized this. In conclusion I would find it hard to believe that it was some kind of insurance fraud, because the place did alot of business. RIP Dollar Deluxe you will be sorely missed, and I hope they open up in another place close by, and hopefully the place will be much bigger...
I gree with u in everything
I used to there and make my shopping at really good prices, qualitiy of the products. I feel sorry for the 🔥 fire of this store
I agree with your assessment of what you noticed. I used to talk to the cashier girls and they told me they weren't getting paid on time and the owner, an Armenian guy, was behind paying them for two pay periods. So, I don't know why he wouldn't prioritize paying his employees rather than buying more expired junk ( the food was mostly all expired). So, maybe he wanted out of the business and probably this was the easiest way to cash out.
Great capture, thanks for posting!

After watching "Shot in the Dark" I've become a huge fan of you guys! I subscribed :-) I support RMG and Fuck Loudlabs
That was a famous Gap store back in the '70's.
Seems like they're not working very hard to put it out.
Every safety class I've ever taken says to "spray the base of the fire". They're not even aiming AT the fire let alone spraying the base of it. Is this really what tax dollars go to? Incompetence?
So many fires every where

This place was a death trap.. there was barely any space to walk an they had to take out like 15 palettes just to be able to open for business everyday
Those dollar stores with cheap made in China plastic crap sure can be stubborn and toxic fires...
I wish RMG would do live streams Like Scott lane (loud labs) does, please!! RMG please start doing live streams on CZcams 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Do they know a cause yet??
My comment is how come when a professional firefighter doesn't wear masks like La here in this video nobody comments about it but one of volunteer department does everybody comments about it what's up with that
This is all for the insurance money ,they where not making that much. They where so expensive.and very rude people .
Firefighter make a huge deal, as well they should, about presumptive cancer laws, but still won’t wear masks, Makes it hard to be credible.
