- I take my lifted 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport back up Bohemia Mountain to try and put the SuBeast through its paces a bit.
Unfortunately due to heavy snow, and debris on the trails, my trip was fairly limited, though I think I got some pretty good footage to show you guys anyway.

I realized after the fact that my recovery boards were upside down, it was more improper use due to the slight panic I was in. But they still worked to get me out thankfully! ...Also I now have a battery powered chainsaw 😜
These Crosstrek cars are actuallly pretty comfortable!
I like how you pace yourself and push yourself only to your personal limit. A lot of videos push beyond their abilities without pointing out their learning curve issues encountered with their setup. You offer valuable info on the Crosstrek’s abilities relative to its size power and overall well balanced design. Airing down to 20#’ and not push it to 16 or even 10#’s is an actual ex of leaving room for error in the practical sense. Totally appreciate the lack of background music. Hearing what’s happening with engine trans and suspension structure, the Crosstreks true essence shine through. Your lack of drama bring me back to your site. Tnx!
That was a fantastic review, and compliment, thank you! I love making this type of content, and believe I should always show that I'm human, and not make it sound like everything is easy. Basically I make the type of content that I like to watch, so I always appreciate the feedback, especially when it's well thought out and concise. Thank you!
Love it. Just picked up a 2021 outback can't wait to hit some trails like this.
Heck yeah!
Great snow vid and trip my friend - like it very much. The Subie is really capable. I like that air compressor and the wheels and tires!
Drove my 2020 today the first time in snow and I´m impressed!
Heck yeah! Even rock stock, the Crosstreks, especially the newer ones, are very capable in a lot of different scenarios. More capable than post pickups in their stock form, that's for sure!
Great air system! Glad you decided to show it.
Thanks! It was a lot of fun getting the custom bracket made for that.
exactly the type of build i was looking for to inspire me for my new daily/adventure car.
It's fun, but a slippery slope! Haha
I drive my outback the same way. Glad you actually use it and not baby it. 🤘🏻
These rigs are made to be used in this manner :)
Great video...love the clarity and the dog. Waiting for more!
More on the way, thanks!
Great job taking the Subaru in its natural habitat and making it look easy. Nice wheel set up.
Thanks :)
I have a 2017 and have put some mods but that air compressor was dope. Really liked what ya did and thank you.
Thanks! You should check out my other video where I talk about the custom mount I made for it.
Awesome video and adventure. Thanks for sharing this !! Exciting to see
Thank you for watching :)
Beautiful Crosstrek! I recently bought my first Subaru and it’s a 2018 Crosstrek. I live in AZ and I’m looking to start taking it out on the trails here and the surrounding states! Looking forward to more of your videos!
Awesome, it's a lot of fun :)
Hey, VibingViking. I’m planning on hopefully moving out to prescott for school. I’m in the midst of making a decision for a new car and I can’t decide between a wrx or a crosstrek. The wrx would be so fun but I also want to be able to go to all the mountains and go skiing and throw some kayaks up on a roof rack. I’m from New York and I know a wrx can handle snow just fine, and I can get to any mountain trail heads I please with my malibu no problem. But I’m wondering if it’s different in Arizona. For example would I have to drive a ways on rocky trails or anything where ground clearance would be an issue for the wrx as opposed to the crosstrek?
"This is probably going to scratch my car" - proceeds forward and pulls branches down the side. I love your dedication, I get anxious even leaving my new Forester in a tight car park spot thinking about a scratch or dent and then I see this! haha
Gotta commit when driving the trails 😎
Really diggin' your videos, particularly this one when you made great use of the recovery boards ("diggin'" see what I did there?). I was chuckling a bit when you were running through some of the branches and I heard a chill "oops" from you. I'm pretty much of the same mantra; if it ain't gettin' scratched, it ain't gettin' used. :D Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your treks (another pun!) and jaunts with us!
Why thank you, I always appreciate the feedback. And that's right, if it's not getting scratched it ain't getting used, haha! Thanks again, I'll take all the feedback I can get :)
Good looking Crosstrek, and some awesome views on that trail.
Thanks! I appreciate it :) That is up on Noonday Wagon Road Trail on the way up to Bohemia Mountain. The forests out in that area are surreal.
An amazing video; i have been a bench warmer looking at Subaru's for years; and what you just demonstrated is that they make their vehicles very tough and rugged....the 4 wheel drives was ridiculous in that high snow....but overall a very good demo; with modifications of course....
These cars are just as capable with the stock tires. I wanted the beefier tires to be more durable off road, and a lift is required for that. Crosstreks are pretty amazing cars.
Depends on what you want to do with it, I say :p
That’s awesome bro, keep up the good work😊
Love the compressor setup 💪👌
Thanks!
Looks like a blast! Great content
Awesome, glad you like the stuff I've been posting, I have a lot more planned for the future too!
Haha, I just posted how your honest, then I see you post the upside down snafu with the boards! Keep it up 👍
Awesome video. I just got my 2021 Crosstrek about 5 weeks ago. No off roading yet but hoping for some snow in Ohio. I got the Thule roof rack free with the vehicle. Asked for it after the price was agreed on. It looks cool up there but man it sucks the gas, not very aerodynamic. It took it off and will take 5 min to put back on for camping trips only. I did add a 2” hitch and think I can haul stuff back there without affecting mileage too much. Also thinking I can pop my winch on if I get stuck. Looking forward to more videos. Great job on the compressor install!
Awesome! They are very capable stock as well. I took mine out on a few adventures while it was still stock, and I was quite impressed with its capabilities. That is one pretty huge downside to the roof racks. I think I was at about 26-31mpg while the engine was still breaking in with stock, and current wheel/tire/lift combo. Post roof rack setup I'm getting between 18-22mpg, and only on the upper end if I drive like a grandpa, lol. However since I go off road probably 4-5 days a week, I need that full size spare, and that's about the only place it will fit. I do plan to get a custom rear bumper at some point, with a tire carrier, and then replace my roof basket with my aero box. But that's gonna be a bit I'm sure.
Good job on the wiring, nice and neat! Give the pup a Scoobie snack for me.
Thanks! Will do! Haha
Looked like when u used recovery boards at 10.01 .they were placed up side down?
Yep, lol
Picking the best line on the trail for optimum tree branch clearance is something you don’t see many brand new cars doing 👍
Haha! So true.
I'm so impressed with these Crosstreks just doing the business like its nothing, in those kind of conditions, I really don't think I would consider taking a car up anywhere like that unless it's a Subaru
Nice ride. Capable little buggers!
Yes they are! Thanks!
nice man this was man cool to see! Subarus are awesome I have Forester and trying to convince my girl to get a Crosstrex lol. Loved Subarus really good reliable fun adventures cars. I need to go on my adventures with my new Forester. I just subscribed to follow your future videos stay connected man! That steep hill looked pretty crazy to drive passed though lol.
Thanks! I agree, Subarus are super underrated and awesome :) I love my Crosstrek.
Excellent tutorial on Oregon pinstriping! Might need to try that sometime to complement my Colorado and Michigan pinstriping :P Some ballsy stuff too man...venturing into the snow solo. Wish I coulda joined ya! BTW, nice work on the compressor install. Didn't think it'd fit in there height wise, let alone with a tank. Good stuff!
Oregon Pinstriping, new band name, called it...
Yeah, honestly, my stomach dropped a bit when I got stuck. I'll be more careful doing stuff like that from now on. I had a glimpse of Wade and I sleeping in the snow that night, lol.
The compressor is a bit tall, that's the other reason for the spacer boards, but other than adding a slight slant to the cargo space it's hardly noticeable.
Your lifted Crosstrek looks badass!
Thank you!
awesome compressed air setup!! great job.
Thank you! I really should have talked about the custom bracket I had to make to make it all possible, but I can go over that in a later video.
@@TheAdventureZombie Thanks.
Just been to your channel and got it.
Thanks

Awesome! Glad I was able to inspire you, haha!
In snow sand and ice I run the tires on my crosstrek down around 8to 10 psi.
On the west side of Ricco Colorado is some awesome mining trails i took my wife's crosstrek on.
Heck yeah! I'm planning on going back to CO next year :)
Love the videos, I'm torn between the limited and sport and need to choose soon. Only thing basically for me is the limited's led lights vs sport's dual x mode. Idk how much of a difference the dual x mode is though.
So if you ask me, the real difference between the two are the LEDs on the Limited, and the Startex (I think that's what it's called) upholstery in the Sport. If you have a dog that like to get muddy on your adventures, get the Sport. If that's not a concern, get the limited. At least that's my opinion :) As far as X-mode, you can get achieve X-mode 2 with X-mode 1 turned on, and the traction control off. It's not exactly the same, but very close.
This is relaxing and lovely content, thank you!! I'm getting a crosstrek (base model) and am wondering if it will have this feature. So cool tho truly great content
The base model is still a great car, it doesn't have as big of engine, or X-Mode, but I've done a lot of the same stuff in my old 2014 Trek. These care are pretty capable right off the showroom floor. That being said, if your planning on deep snow driving, some upgraded traction tires are recommended.
Looks really similar to the trails I mess around in up in the Sisters/Camp Sherman/ Deschutes forest area.
Dude, thanks for another great video! Researching recovery boards now to get myself a pair :-) Oh, and my next Tundra will proooobably get a compressor installed under the back seat :-)
Awesome brother! There are a lot of different kinds out there, from pro level to weekend warrior, so defiantly look around to find one that suits your needs. I will totally help install that compressor if you need me :p
@@TheAdventureZombie I will take you up on that!
Anytime!
good video, compressor assembly for tire is good
Thanks!
Fantastic!!
I like that you just screwed the control panel mount right to the dash. I wouldn't worry about the boards in your spare tire area at this point.
Lol, the screws left prett small holes in the dash, and I'm confident that I could repair it if I ever decided to take it off there. But I bought this car to do this with, so in the end, I wasn't that worried about it :p
You have yourself a new subscriber, great video 👍
Awesome, I really appreciate the support :)
@@TheAdventureZombie from me too!👍
Thank you!
Lol you are nuts. I just bought the car and i cant imagine putting it thru all that. Yet.
Haha! I just chopped the bumper on it for better price angle ;p
Subaru and, beast?
2 words that don't belong together.
However for what it is, it was a beautiful drive😃.
I'll have to put it on my list. 👍
Lol, don't hate. It's just a beast amongst subarus. I'm aware it's not a beast compared to like a rock crawler or something, but I can hold my own with the jeep trails no problem :) It's a beautiful area, and there are a ton of roads to explore up there.
I live in cottage grove not far from noon day trail. We have a Sequoia. Getting ready to put a leveling lift.
Awesome! I'll probably see you out there at some point :)
Sorry not sorry to comment again but when doing a 3-point (or more) turn in snow, keep your tires straight for the initial bit of reverse to gain some momentum before turning. If you turn the wheel outside the track you just made you're likely to bury the front end as you did by that big tree across the trail. Always respect the snow 🤙❄:)
Lol, I'm much better at driving my Crosstrek in the snow now. Put me in the same situation now, and I wouldn't have even needed the traction boards. Mostly this was just inexperience with deep snow driving.
That's awesome! Can you get a tripod? More external shot would be great!
I have one, sorry, sometimes I forget to get external shots. But I'm defiantly trying to get better, and I appreciate the feedback! :)
I’m scared to ask if there’s a before and after for the paint job. Cool trip in the new Crosstrek.
Lol, I got the white just because it doesn't show scratches as easily :p
@@TheAdventureZombie that's why I'm getting white haha!!
Haha!
@@boxerdieseli have the same car😂
That’s a good looking crosstrek! Looking to lift my next trek.
When you do, check out RalliTek. They can get you setup with everything you need :)
@@TheAdventureZombie sweet deal! My 2017 is at 217k and still going strong haha!
Screw your car!... Wade deserves to ride in the front seat!💪🏼😎
Lol, and he does most of the time :p
Nice looking wheels man
Thanks! I got those through Subaru when I got my car. They were part of the off road package that my dealership offered. They are KMC KM708 Bully wheels 15x7 +10 offset 5x100 bolt pattern. I believe they come in that bronze/gold color as well.
Nice build
Thanks!
Good stuff!
Thanks!
Great looking Cross Trek. Was thinking of deciding between that and the Kia Seltos and put a 2" lift kit on each and more rugged tires I'm still favoring the Subaru's ruggedness but the Seltos does have a great look. But down on off road power.
I do know that Subaru makes a great vehicle. I can't speak to Kia since I've never owned one, but if it was me, I'd go Subaru. They do a lot of awesome standard things that you wouldn't really think of. Couple that with their excellent AWD system, and X-Mode(s), and the Crosstreks are quite formidable, and capable.
I will be test driving the 2021 Crosstrek soon!!👍🇺🇲😄
Awesome!
I love it. We just purchased a 21 crosstrek ourselves. What your doing with yours is exactly what I am going to do with ours. Actually I think we are going to buy a second 21 for me to convert to an overland rig. Going to sit and binge watch the rest of your videos. 3 questions....... 1- What size tires? 2-What is your overall mileage with the bigger AT tires? Why did you use the traction boards upside down? Had never thought of that way.
That sounds pretty awesome, I'm a little jelly, haha. 215/75R15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A's on 15x7 5x100 +10 offset KMC Buy wheels. I get between 19-22MPG with the tires, and roof rack set up. I did get better MPG without the rack. As for the traction boards, when used on the ground they can be used either side up. If you want to use them to do something like ramping, or bridging, curved side up gives you the best strength. Thanks for the questions :)
Hahaha! They actually make pretty good little overlanders, but the extra weight really bogs them down. At that point what you'd need to do to it, may not be worth it for some people. I will say you can build a Subaru a lot cheaper than a Toyota though :p
Great video! Just bought 2021 Sport... that humming sound has cemented my decision to keep stock wheels/tires... Unless you're more often on trails than not, don't think it's worth it (aesthetics aside)
Pretty sure that’s a mud terrain tire which means more noise
They are indeed mud terrain tires. Most go with the BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2's that are considerably more quiet on the road. Not gonna lie, on long highway trips these mud terrain tires are pretty annoying, but I probably put as many miles off road as I do on road most of the time, so the beefier tread makes sense for my needs. But if your looking to upgrade a daily driver, I'd go with the KO2's for sure.
People keep hating on CVTs, I don't get it, lol. I love mine :)
@@TheAdventureZombie I like my CVT better than a typical auto, so far. I like it better than the CVT I encountered in a rental Altima too. A manual might be more fun for spirited driving (rally), but my CVT gets me great MPG commuting, as I'm averaging 37-38MPG this week.
I agree, my CVT has been solid! That great MPG!
Lol that was awesome man. I don't know if I could put my crosstrek through that torture with temp plate still on lol.
Thanks :) You should see my newer videos, I had my car out in Moab not too long ago :p
Good video.
Thank you, I always appreciate feedback :)
Love it man I have a 2016 Outback lifted with all terrains subies are beasts off road I live in Colorado and all that is here is jeeps and subies but unfortunately the subie crowd here doesn’t customize them like me. I take mine up in the mountains all the time it keeps up with my friends G Wagon and my other friends Jeep Gladiator.
Heck yeah! I was in Colorado to climb some 14ers this year in Aug. and I saw the same thing, Jeeps, and Subies. That's actually what inspired me to do this build, haha. I'm with you, I'm all about proving that the Subies are just as good, and even better in some occasions :)
@@TheAdventureZombie oh yeah they are beasts for sure I shocked some lady this summer when I made it up this trail only jeeps go on she was like how the hell did a Subaru make it up here! It’s not going to do extreme rock crawling but it will definitely take you places not a lot of people can get to. I had a jeep before I had my Outback and I honestly love my Outback way better my only wish is that someday they make an actual automatic instead of the cvt because then that will be a true off-road monster.
Yeah, that sounds about right, lol! I don't really mind my CVT honestly. My 2014 Crosstrek had a terrible delay between switching gears, especially from drive to reverse. But the new CVTs in the 2021s seem bulletproof, and really responsive so far. But I will of course keep testing that :)
@@TheAdventureZombie yeah I seen they upgraded the cvt so they are a little more tough especially in the new Outback onyx edition.
I'm digging mine :)
You’re nuts taking a Crosstrek in there, looks like ATV territory to me…. But impressive it can handle it. Can’t wait for my delivery, but I won’t be doing that😂
You should watch my Moab, or my Rock Slider Test video 🤣
Hello and thank you , great video , can you tell us what kind of wheels you have attach to your car ., they look rugged and great ..and any advantage to install an air compressor , thanks !!
Thanks! The info on the wheels is in my video description :) As for benefits to installing a compressor, it just gives you so much versatility. You can air down for rough roads and air back up when you hit pavement. I'm running a Viair Constant Duty Onboard Air system with a 2.5gal tank that's capable of just about any compressor task, even pneumatic tools :)
So cool! But not gonna lie.... this gave me major anxiety 😅 I'm picking up my 2023 in 2 weeks and I won't be doing any of that 🤣
What lift, wheels, and tires do you have? Thx for the vids!
Very nice job on your compressor man! Did you do a lot of research on your components first, seems to be at the ticket
I did. I knew the tank would fit but it would be tight, then it was just a matter of adding the proper fittings, and building a mount for it. It was a fun project though :)
God, Oregon is a magnificent place, particularly the Bend area. And I’m from California! I’d rather pump my own gas, however.
Haha, well I do agree Oregon has some pretty epic places, that's for sure
You can pump your own gas in much of Oregon now.
Or just buy liquor at any old grocery store.
also a 2021 sport owner. i see you have Oregon plates, knowing our current situation right now would you recommend using x-mode on the streets and highway? i have stock tires.
Nope, just because X-Mode shuts itself off once you pass 20mph on the speedo. So for normal day to day travel, I would not recommend x-mode. Unless however you were moving slow anyway, or trying to avoid getting stuck in deep snow, mud, or sand.
Did you have traction control on or off? Is it usually best to turn it off for this type of driving? Does the symmetrical all wheel drive system still work the same when its off?
I did have traction control off. I was actually in X-Mode 2 for most of this. That being said, with a Gen 1 for example that doesn't have X-Mode, you would for sure have traction control OFF for even gravel driving, in my opinion. Yes you can drive just fine on most surfaces with it on, but you have better control over the car when it's off. The second part of your question is No, the AWD does not act the same with traction control off. But exactly what the difference is escapes me off the top of my head. But basically it allows you a little bit of slip, and with off roading, that's usually a good thing. Honestly, traction control is only good for pavement in my opinion.
Where is this at?
Umpqua Natinal Forest
Good stuff! Brave to do that in a new car!
Lol, people keep telling me that, haha! But this is why I bought the car in the first place. I'm medically retired out of the Army, so this is kind of what I do now.
@@TheAdventureZombie Sounds like a great way to spend you time.👍 I’m building my off road car but it’s a very similar idea, based on a ‘99 Forester but very custom.
Love it!
How about a winch and straps. You'ld be unstoppable. Cool vid.
Working on it, lol. I have to prioritize my spending :p
Just curious. Is there a mode you pick for driving in the snow or just the normal all wheel drive that operates all the time.
As you know the Crosstrek is AWD all the time, but when I hit snow, deep snow, or mud I switch to X-Mode 1 or 2 depending on the situation.
I have the orange 2020! I love it but I dont think I'd want to get it scratched up
Lol, it sure is fun though :)
great vid man. what kind of lift are you running? and what size tires are those? what are the tires?
Hey there! The lift and wheel/tire setup info is in the description links :)
Wait what is the point in having the air compressor in the back (besides filling your tires up)? Or is that just the point?
That's mostly the point, but also so I can work as a support rig if needed. You can run pneumatic tools off this compressor setup as well.
Surprised the symmetrical AWD worked so well. The tires you have on and airing down played a big part in that. Congrats on your first scratches. Tires?
You should see some of me newer stuff :) Also, tire and wheel combo is in the description.
czcams.com/video/DxaFRb3l2a4/video.html
Do you have a video which describes “the lift” you put on and any related implications (I.e., warranty or whatnot)?
I do, but I can't remember what video it was. However if you check the description on the video it lists all my parts. In this video I had a 1.5" ADF lift kit, but I'm running a 3" setup from RalliTek now. As far as warranty goes, it only effects your CV axle warranty when you do a 1.5"-2" lift. Nothing else on the car is effected. Obviously if you replace all your suspension components like I did, those won't be under warranty from Subaru anymore. Check my recent videos for a walkthrough on my RalliTek parts.
What wheels and tires are you running im waiting on my forester wilderness to show up next month and a 2inch lift, wheels and tires are first on the list
Parts are listed in the video discription
Very cool. What part of Oregon is this video from?
South of Eugene. Just look up Bohemia Mountain
How about a chain saw lol
Might save some paint !!
Nice video
It's on the list, I'm working on protection and recovery at the moment though. I just got a steel front bumper that can accept a winch, and then skid plates are next. Then the chainsaw :p
New sub here. I have owned two Rubicons and a ZR2. I am now considering a 2021 Crosstrek while I give the new Bronco a few years to work out any bugs. These little Crosstreks seem very capable, any regrets?
Haha, that's awesome! Honestly, other than the stereo being a little weird at times, no, none. It's cheaper to build, almost as capable in most occasions, and more capable in other occasions. The AWD system paired with the dual setting X-Mode can get you into some pretty crazy places. You add some recovery boards, and a winch and you can just about go anywhere. It's really compact too, so it fits down small trails really nicely. Though it does lack a bit in the cargo department. But I plan to get a custom rear bumper with a tire carrier, and then I'll be putting my aero cargo box on my roof rack for better fuel mileage and increased storage.
Man I'm nearly sold on the 2021 Sport trim. I'd avoided the XV because of the anemic 2.0 and am a little resistant to getting an XT or older 3.6 with the unknowns of future premium gas prices. Might have to jump on a 2.5 Sport XV
I'd say I'm mostly happy with my choices. The car handles, and drives great, lots of power, but the electronics range from a little weird, to annoying. But you can shut all the annoying stuff off, thankfully. The stereo seems to have a mind of its own sometimes though, lol.
@@TheAdventureZombie gotta love technology. What kind of useful mileage are you getting out of the 2.5 after going to the M/T tires?
If I'm climbing a lot of hills, or driving +70 mph on the freeway I only get like 17-19mpg, but for most things I'm betting between 20-22mpg. But a large part of that is my roof rack setup as well. I think I lost 6mpg with the roof rack install.
@@geologik7500 I got myself a 2018 outback with the 2.5 and I get and average of 32mpg going 80mph on the HWY, I just set the adaptive cruise control at 80mph and it pretty much drives itself....on the other hand when I drive on city streets I get around 18-20mpg, sometimes I have a heavy foot....but I imagine the fuel economy to be better on the crosstrek since it's smaller then the outback....overall I'm very happy with the 2.5 boxer engine...i love that it gets over 30mpg on the hwy which means long roadtrips have become more affordable to do...
The 3.6 doesn't need premium. Only the one in the first gen Tribeca.
What tires are you running? They look like mud terrains, which usually are a terrible choice for snow.
BFG Mud Terrain KM3s, and yes, they suck in the snow :)
Great video! Maybe I missed it…but where is the spare?
It was on the roof, but I ended up getting an F44 Off Road bumper for the back with a tire swing.
Not sure if you know by now but your recovery tracks were upside down when you used them. Put the flat surface down and the side with the knobs up and they will work better.
Yeah, I know, lol. They still worked despite using them upside down. I realized it after the fact, but it worked, so who was I to complain :p
Take what you can get sometimes lol.
Exactly :)
I see the Rain Guard on the driver's window paid the price. Time to break out the 3M Tape 😉
Cool Vid. Do you ever chainsaw big trees like the one in the road?
My OEM guards have been great :) I've been working on a few trails, but the tree in this video was quite large and at a very steep angle, there's no way I would attempt one in a situation like that. But I would cut a tree this size if it was laying more horizontal so I don't have to risk getting squished :p
Did you do a build video for the compressor?
If you watch my video titled "From The Hatchback: Second Episode" I talk a bit about how I got my compressor to fit, and what I did. I hope this helps.
Windshield isn't cheap for a crosstrek around $1000 u have some good vids
Haha. Who cares about a scratch when you’re doing what you love?!
Exactly :)
because you quickly end up doing something you DONT love... paying for new paint job and/or rust repair
I'm not that worried about it. I bought this car to do exactly this with it, so I've accepted any repairs that will come of it.
Exactly, I don't understand why people complaining about it? It's like if you buy an american muscle then don't cry about the mpg.
Yep, lol. I'm not worried one bit about scratches, dents, and repairs. It's just part of the fun :)
What lift kit? do you think it adversely effects the handling on the street? I have a 2020 Crosstrek. [ but I do not live near cool mountains :-( ]
This is from a company called Anderson Design and Fabrication, it's the 1.5" strut spacer with multi link spacer kit. Even if you aren't taking it off road, the lift and more aggressive tires makes them look awesome! :)
@@TheAdventureZombie agreed!! Thanks for reply
Hope you own a da orbital.
Those tires are loud lol looks like fun though
Yes they are, lol. But the performance and look is nice :)
Nice setup. I have an 18 lifted. Past 3 years it's been awesome I love it. Any reason you didn't go with k02's? They are wwaayy quieter.
Awesome! I went with the KM3s for two reasons, I knew I was going to be do a lot of mud and snow stuff, and I think they look better, lol. Silly reason I know, but I do use/ need them quite a lot.
@@TheAdventureZombie they definitely look more aggressive. That's not a silly reason. I feel like half of the reason we do stuff to our rigs is to make them look cool lol the other is to get us to cool places.
I couldn't agree more, haha!
Curious why you didnt just use one of the portable air tanks you could fill at a gas station?
I really liked the idea of a compressor with a tank for its ability to run air tools. Never know when you'll need to cut a fender off to make it off the trail, lol! And a die grinder would make it pretty easy :) I can also operate as a support/rescue vehicle.
Awesome
Thanks!
This Video is exactly why I insisted to my wife to get a new one and not buy used... you don't where the car has been . Nice video btw...
Lol, thank you! I tend to be pretty hard on my vehicles, but I still have never broken anything, knock on wood, ha!
The air compressor is nice, however I went the easier and more affordable route and got me a regular $40-$60 portable air compressor that powers thru the regular cigarette lighter port, it takes about 3-4 minutes to inflate each tire
I had one of those as well, but I ultimately ditched it. After I aired up all 4 tires it was so hot I couldn't even touch the thing. I realized that it's putting hot air into the tire, which means as soon as the air in the tire cools you'll have a lot less PSI. They defiantly work, and I'm not trying to say they don't, but as often as I air down, I decided to go with the full onboard air system.
@@TheAdventureZombie your right those things get really hot, by the way your crosstrek looks amazingly badass! Especially with those wheels and tires! I recently got myself my first Subaru ever, a white 2018 Outback and would love to set it up the same way as your crosstrek. If you think about it the crosstreck is like a smaller outback since it's based on the impreza platform just like the outback is based on the legacy platform..I now see why people love their subarus, cuz I love mine too!
Thank you, I appreciate that a lot. I have more planned for the build, but parts are spendy, so it's gonna take some time, and hopefully some sponsors to get me there, haha! I have seen a lot of off road outback's out there. There are several companies that do 4", and 6" lift kits for those. Just crazy stuff, haha
@@TheAdventureZombie oh yea man offroad equipment is really expensive, I was looking at rock sliders and skid plates for subarus and they are pretty damn expensive, thats why my outback is completely stock right now...but even in stock form I enjoy the heck out if it and the eyesight is something I've never experienced before, I love to go on roadtrips and just set the adaptive cruise control on and the car pretty much drives itself, even the steering wheel steers itself to keep the car from getting out if its lane....pretty amazing stuff....
Oh yeah, off road parts are not cheap. And agreed, the assisted driving is crazy, lol
Subaru makes a damm good car
Couldn't agree more!
Bohemia Mountain in Oregon? I live in Bend!
That's the place :)
Yea, that is too bad you couldn't get through w/ that big tree blocking the path. Can you cut it down to make a path if you had a chain saw? Or, is that not allowed? The compressor set up looks pretty cool. Thanks for sharing the cool drive on the trail.
If I had a chainsaw I could have cut it down yes. I believe if it's already down, and I don't intent to harvest it, it's ok. Being national forest land, the rules are a little different. That being said, the angle that log is at, I wouldn't have attempted cutting it, just from a safety standpoint. And thank you, I'm pretty proud of my compressor setup :)
@@TheAdventureZombie Ah, yea I see that it was a pretty big piece of lumber for sure to be messing with. 😃 Thanks, bro totally enjoy and living the 4x4 trekking life thru you. 😂
Haha, anytime! I have another video coming out soon where I test my recovery boards.
What phone mount are you using on the dash?
I don't recall, this was an old video, and I don't have the same mount anymore :/
What brand were those recovery boards champ???
These are from a company called ORCISH. I just released a new video with a link in the description if you want to check them out.
What kind of tires do you got on that bad boy?
All parts and specs in the description :)
