    I was going to say before you cut the shocks loose install one end then cut it loose and put the other bolt in as it is expanding out.
    Good stuff. Happy Motoring.

      Yeah, I immediately thought: "Oppp, he cut that too early, should have waited until it's mounted" --- As soon as I seen that it was too tall when he was trying to install it..... But at the same time-- I've seen a lot of guys talk about how it's important to cycle the shock a couple of times before you put it on there-- not sure why??

    • @piciu256
      @piciu256 Před 2 lety

      @@calholli it's about moving the oil up where it's supposed to be, displacing the air, bit it only really applies to standard/ cheap twin tube shocks, the ones in the video have an IFP separating the gas and oil, so there is no risk of gas and oil mixing.

    • @drerocs
      @drerocs Před 2 lety

      @@calholli Could you point to the time in the video you are referencing to? I'll be doing this install for the first time. TIA

    • @mostlymoparih5682
      @mostlymoparih5682 Před 2 lety

      @@drerocs At about 3:38 he cuts the shock free then at 3:51 he installs a bolt into the shock in the lower mounting bracket. If he left the shock restrained and installed the shock in the upper mounting bracket with a bolt then cut it free he could install a bolt in the lower mounting bracket as it expanded out enough for a bolt to fit in. That's how I would do it. Happy Motoring.

    Thank you. This video proved to be super helpful for my Ford Performance Bilstein suspension install. One note, in the event that the tie rod end nut just spins the bolt, use a 10mm socket to hold the bottom of the bolt and a 21mm wrench to tighten the nut. Once you snug up the nut a bit, you will no longer need the socket and can use a torque wrench to tighten it to spec.

    Congrats on the suspension upgrade with the Fox Struts and Shocks. They look great, but more importantly, it appears to have improved the ride significantly. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for putting this together, this was extremely helpful. The process is WAY easier on the '22's than it was on my 2013 and 2018, but the way you specified what order to put everything back together really helped avoid some headaches.

    The set is a little expensive, but it’s really not too bad of a job to install, Eh? Nice having the right tools. The Ford shocks aren’t that bad really, but with the Fox 2.0s I felt there was a definite benefit and difference warranting the price (if you do it yourself). I liked your technique for the rear shocks!! 😂😂. You can cycle them first that way!!!
    Great video. Quick & to the point. Awesome dog by the way!!

    Great video! I would like to know two things ... how is the ride changed on road? Is it harsher riding (especially empty in the bed) or does it also feel just as smooth as stock? Doesn't Fox prove a shock boot for the rear absorber?

    When you talked to the Fox rep did he say anything about using the original upper control arm ? I'm assuming that you didn't change it on the strut install . Did you ever consider Bilstein 6112 B8 or anything else ? Who did you buy through ?
    I have a 2020 F-150 that I want leveled with a good suspension kit which will allow for off road trips.

    Please check Page 7 of the instruction manual. You improperly installed the rear shocks. They are upside down. The body of the shock must be attached to the back of the rotor not the frame.

    I just picked up a 23 F150 PowerBoost and I mainly do city driving and the box is empty most of the time. I don't like the rake and it feels too bouncy. I don't want the mpg to suffer too much by levelling and going with a heavier wheel and tire setup. I have decided to stay with stock wheel and tire and just do the level. Do you think the mpg will suffer too much doing 90% city driving and do you think for my application I would benefit the full Fox 2.0 or front pucks would suffice? Thank you! Shane

    I just don't understand why all automotive companies aren't using these kind of shocks straight out of the factory? The technology is out there, why not build it into every car? If it were to be common place like that, it wouldn't cost near as much as it does.

    • @piciu256
      @piciu256 Před 2 lety +1

      Aspecially since you don't really need any space age technology, just better valving would do, but I guess they are trying to achieve something else than traction and comfort, steering response maybe?

    1: Ford says NEVER jack the truck by the rear end Bell Housing. 2: Those plastic straps on the rear shocks are there to help you get the shocks on, and THEN cut the straps. That's as far as I got in the video. I just can't watch someone with less mechanical skill than I have try to show me how to do something.
