The information provided here is simply based on the scientific review that's linked. Some people have mentioned that foods can decrease 5a-reductase activity, which may very well be the case, but keep in mind there are a number of isoforms of 5a-reductase and the advantage finasteride has is its specificity, since the inhibition of all 5a reductase is not wanted. Keep the points coming, I'm curious on your take.
Even with Finasteride it takes lots of time for you to reduce DHT levels , imagine with food, it may take forever...
Finasteride feels very uncomfortable to me. It gave me long lasting problems with cognition. I don't think that Dht and maybe more important inhibition of Allopregnenolone and other Neurosteroids, that act as potent positive allosteric modulators of Gaba a receptors, (but not the same subunits as benzodiazepines), is a good thing. Also Androgens have heavy implications for the development of atherosclerosis in men due to their immunomodulating effects, their vasorelaxant and pro nitric oxide effect. Also Dht has to be found to be neuroprotective, the same goes for Allopreg. Androgens seem to be very important hormones!
What a timely video. I started this yesterday prophylactically.
Good luck on it. Excellent timing, indeed.
How has it been? Are you still on it? Please give an update- I’m 2 and a half months in
@@slugnation1699 I actually quit 1 year ago to help my fertility. I had no issues and I don’t think I’ve lost any hair since quoting.
ive been micro-needling on the scalp 1.5mm depth once a week and ketoconazole shampoo twice a week (on different days). i have new terminal hairs all over my thin areas including hairs on my temples which have been bald for nearly a decade. In just 6 months of treatment
i havent used minoxodil or finasteride but ive heard they can be utilized together with red light therapy ala Derek from mpmd!
Sounds intense. Wow. I'm glad you've already seen results, though!
it hurts, but im worth it!
Does your dermaroller have 192 oder 540 needles?
@@nakefatty9167 update ?
I thought you could only get hair back if you only been bald in that area for 6 years. Pretty cool if it grew back in 10 years. I wonder if it'll be rare in 30 years for people to be bald.
great video
Thank you, Shahar - consider sharing it , if you could.
As a new finasteride user I found this video informative and straight to the pint. Much appreciated.
How's it going so far? I'll be starting soon too.
@@Daniel-hp3tk Hey dude, it’s going well, only been using it for a week so far, my stuff just came in but so far no sides and it’s going well! I’ll keep you updated.
Update: it’s going well. No sides so far.
@@treythompson6601 Great to hear man! I'm also a month on Finasteride now, and I'm feeling good and content.
@@Daniel-hp3tk update?
only 43% reduction in scalp DHT ? what about the remaining 57% ? As more than 1/2 of DHT is still around would it still not lead to hair loss ?
What about for BPH? Muscle Hypertrophy and athletic performance?
BPH is affected at 5 times higher doses, according to this review. Didn't mention anything about muscle.
You can probably look at literature on finasteride shrinking the male member
Hey would be interested to know who paid for the research in the papers you review just as another layer of info
Already started doing that about 3 months ago - I list the funding source for every study in my detailed analyses. Good feedback - thanks.
How does it compare to dutasteride (avodart)?
Half as affective
Just take 1mg 3x a week
Taking daily is better imo
@@the_boy_15 negligible, but go ahead
All the young guys in their 20's who gave mature hairlines are ready at any moment to pull the trigger on the nuclear balding stack
Not surprised, it's something that matters to many people.
Not if they want to have an erection. That stuff is not good for your hormones.
@@ohplezz For some reason, your previous comment doesn't show. I'm surprised to hear that, considering this review of the literature mentioned no negative effects other than a slight change in estrogen and testosterone.
@@Physionic I have taken the drug for hairloss but it had profound effects on my sex drive. So much so I would question who funded those studies. When I stopped taking it within a week I was back to my old self but I only took the drug for a month or 6 weeks. I would truly be afraid to take it any longer than that. I would rather be bald than possibly do permanent damage to my endocrine system.
@@dlong7146 Really? Just because you as an individual developed severe side-effects, that means that the scientific literature on finasteride isn't to be trusted?
I'm the 69th liker on the vid!btw I've been on dut since June 2020 and idk if it's side effect but i def got more hornier on this medication which ik is completely opposite of what others experience
Im on dut as well.
Did you started with finasteride or straight went for dutasteride?
@@mantoshow8852 i never used fin, I noticed my hair was getting thinner and i went to a dermatologist and since I'm just 20 i was recommended dut probably because my hairloss is aggresive which sucks
@@shutupidiot16yearsago79 i was on Fin 1.5year but still got thinner on the crown, but overall my hair got better. Its my 21 day on dutasteride and i hope to maintain.
@@mantoshow8852 goldluck mate hope you'll see the best results
Wat r ur thoughts on post finastride syndrome there is some research on it but alot of research also shows its safe for most Ppl
I haven't looked much into it, but I likely will, because people have mentioned it a number of time. I know it occurs, but it may not be as prevalent as some make it out to be - we'll see as I dive deeper into it.
@@Physionic if u can dive deep into it I'd really appreciate it we need a strong scientific lense that's non bias on it
@@Physionic updates?
@@Physionic Updates sir?
3:57 ha. diddly. any relation to Ned Flanders? lol jk. thanks for the info
Haha, maybe so :)
What about for women 🤔...
This does not apply to women.
@@Physionic Can you do one on women?
@@gloomzoom546 sure!
Better off trying 500mg of palmetto or very low dose of Fin
Post finasteride syndrome is a real thing. There are many people who have serious side effects (depression and complete sexual failure among others) that persist for years after discontinuation of the drug. I feel like you go really easy on it. Also the androgen hypothesis of hair loss is quite confusing to me. For example baldness increases while we age and androgens (including dht) decrease as we age. If dht sensitivity is the only culprit of mpb then we would all be bald as teenagers and then gradually restore our hair as we age. 🤔
I didn't mention it, because it wasn't mentioned much in the scientific review. I'll be sure to cover it in future content.
You can have differences in gene expression with age - increases in local, or intracellular levels can be different from serum, but I agree, there may be more there than meets the eye.
@@Physionic ok, looking forward to the next videos. Maybe touch a little bit on the thyroid and its own connection to hair loss.
Post Finasteride syndrome has no scientific backing whatsoever. DHT levels are restored after cessation of Finasteride.
Because DHT enzyme activity increases with age.
Hair lose increase by aging because as you age, not only DHT bu also testesterone and other sex hormones attack hair folliculs.
finasteride fucked me up.
How?
I like that you are smart dude like me! Take Finasteride and show these beta VERSIONS that They are DEAD WRONG !!! 🤓 #Red-pill #knowledge
It hardly seems worth it. If you have the genetics then you probably just need to deal with that fact.
Yea, tell that to people who start balding at 18. First year of college.
