    I have 80k kms now. Ken from Wedge performance custom e85 tuned mine since 42k kms. I have VRSF top mount intercooler, VRSF heat exchanger, VRSF catless downpipes and MPE. Have had 2 injector failures and a oil filter housing gasket at 75k kms since being tuned. Running on stock chargepipes, crank hub and dct clutches. However I have had a dct fluid service. Planning to do ssr crank hub and Dodson clutches once I go pure stg 2+. Knock on wood for my stock crank hub :)

    To add onto the injector failure, ethanol burns much faster than regular fuel and it takes a lot more ethanol to do the same thing compared to a regular 91 octane. Sometimes the injectors won't be able to put out as much fuel as you need, causing you to run lean. Not only on this motor, on all cars. Generally, with some exceptions, the injectors were made for a regular fuel, not ethanol, and they just won't have the power to inject the proper needed amount of fuel.

    • @WilsonsGreenRoom

      Its a gamble with anything past stock IMO. I had a stage 2 tune for 10,000 miles with no issues but doing the crank hub now as a precaution. Its all about your level of risk tolerance. A tune really wakes the turbos up and you will love it for sure.

    In relation to the intercooler and charge pipes, I recently had about TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of work done by the dealer (all covered under warranty thankfully) because as I was told the charge pipes weren't sealing properly and caused the coolant in the secondary expansion tank to overheat and boil out. The coolant leaked onto the DME and fried it and the pump coming off of the secondary tank fried itself because it overheated with no coolant to keep it cool. I didn't have my car for a month

    Great vid. All your vids are well explained which is great. But i have a couple small issues i can use your opinion on. 1 my M4 is tuned with MHD stage 2+ GTS transmission. I have catless downpipes from F8freaks, injen charge pipes, CTS intercooler, AFE momentum intakes. When I’m gasing from around 2000-4000 RPM my turbo spool sounds very crappy. Very raspy sound and not smooth and aggressive. Before i put the AFE’s on didn’t sound like that. So I’m wondering is it the intakes, could i need upgraded turbos, or will a catback exhaust cancel out the raspy sound? 2 I’m on my 2nd coolant tank. My original stock tank started seeping through the seem at the top usually after I’m going hard at around 90-120 mph. So I replaced it but im seeing similar issue but not as bad as the older one. Any solutions to this?

    I have had 2 OEM top mount intercoolers fails on my F80. One at 38K miles and another at 50K miles. I eventually switched to CSF. I don’t recommend VRSF or Mishimoto. Yes they are cheaper but the quality and the welds are just not that great. I do think VRSF makes good parts like Chargepipes, intakes, exhausts but I’ve seen their intercoolers and they’re disappointing

    Very informative video with no bs. At the same time it's disappointing that you spend so much money on the M3 and get an engine that you have to fix by yourself as if manufacturer didn't see those issues. It looks like they have been designed to break so that you keep fixing your BMW or simply buy a new one after 2-3 years.

      I have a 15 F82 as well and mine started leaking at round 47K miles, but I've been running about 24PSI of boost since around 23K miles, so the BMW tech told me that running increased boost on the OEM TMIC will cause it to go bad a little early. In either case I replaced it with CTSTurbo TMIC and charge pipes and the car is running great at 51K miles.

    from your experince moding a n54 and n55 and s55 , i am looking to make 600whp on either a single turbo 335is or s55 or find me a b58 with pure 800 turbo, which would you go with and why ? this is not a daily car

    • @lucasaltman7772
      @lucasaltman7772 Před 3 lety

      Go with the s55 it’s way more reliable will cost way less to repair and maintain and 600+ whp isn’t even a challenger for these motors, you wouldn’t even have to change out the bottom end maybe build up the top end a little and you can reliably run 600+ whp even on stock turbos if you wanted to. This is the greatest bmw motor ever made most reliable and easiest to make most power it is absolutely a no browner if you can afford it

    I’m so annoyed by the crankhub spinning discussion honestly. So many people say that extra power increases risk, and others say extra power doesn’t matter. People have had the crankhub spin without adding extra power. I honestly can’t tell how big of an issue it actually is. I’m just going to tune my car anyways and if it happens, it happens.

      Simply Car Things well BMW will void the Warranty if we use them on tracks or competitive Motor racing .
      They are other wise a very cheap racing car . Unfortunately Racing Cars cost a lot more than a showroom car does . Also BMW state that their Cars are not designed for track use . Take that anyway you like .

      @dy3812 Před 2 lety

      @@stevenfoleyuk9404 True, alot of people dont realize almost no car sold on a showroom floor is or even near what a race car would be considered. Its even worse now adays where they do cheap tricks to make cars feel "track ready" like overly stiff suspension and throttle mapping. Exceptions for porsche and certain super cars ofc. But everything else will at the very minimum require brakes, fluid and tires just to enjoy on the track. Then proper suspension and engine modifications to ensure proper cooling and response. Even then itd be nothing compared to a cheap purpose build car. I love my m2 and plan on tracking it, but a cheap civic or miata that can handle abuse and not destroy tires seems very appealing.

    Only problem is that hp has no more of an effect on the crank hub than it would on say an alternater or ac compressor. It has more to do with sudden changes in rpm than anything. This is why more often than not the people who have spun them have dct. Due to the extremely fast shift time and sudden and extreme changes in rpm that the hub can than spin.

    It's amazing that a company like BMW can't figure out how to make an engine and related components not be an unreliable piece of sh*t. Great cars when they run, but got damn they'll cost you. Could have saved ton of money by using a god damn air-to-air intercooler and made it more reliable.

    • @SimplyCarThings

    Crank hub explanation is actually faulty. Sprockets spinning independently of eachother isnt the issue. The issue is the cam-chain sprocket spinning individualy of the hub itself, as the hub is on the crank. The oil-pump sprocket doesnt matter if it moves a bit, because it's not in on the engines timing at all. As for your explanation that the crankhub fails due to power are also complete BS! Are the cams heavier to drive with higher power output of the engine?! No.. They say it revs faster when tuned.. No, it doesnt rev faster than revving it in neutral anyway! Also it happens to loads of stock cars that bever hits the forums. Regular owners just putting their stock cars into the shop and have it fixed under warranty. Mostly the tuned guys are in the forums, hence "people say" this mostly happens to tuned cars. Happened to my stock M2C when hard braking and the DCT smacked itself into lower gear and high rev ripping the engine up in rpm. Not touching the accel pedal at all. BMW dealer had 5 stock cars the last months with faulty crankhub. All with the harsh dct. GTS gearbox føash is reccomended! Crank hub is identical as in the N55, but it also has a water pump and a heavier vibration damper fitted to it in the S55. Shitty patent they fixed in the B/S58 atleast but they will never admit it was a fault in the S55
