We can’t get the cylinder out as the key broke off in the lock and the screw to remove it is under a piece of metal when we remove the back of the lock itself. Any help?
Phillips screwdriver, really? The screws are pozidriv not Phillips. It's not a 'Tail' it's called a 'Connecting Bar' and you should cut the connecting bar with the cylinder mounted in the door with a hacksaw and a pair of pliers, you never copy the length of the cylinder you are removing as they are invariably wrong.
@@yourlondonlocksmith1697 you're welcome, not 'another method' what I said is the correct method, but hey I've only been a locksmith since 1983 so what do I know?
Thank you. Very useful indeed.
Also, if doing tutorial, speak as quietly as possible 🤣 Jk great vid!
Still learning that side lol
thank you.
I use bolt cutters to trim the tail piece
Plyers and grips works better, those slits are weak points meant to fail from a bending force
Many Thanks 😊
Top video thanks
@Dillon Bo sad
Thanks 🙏🏽
Can you use the tail piece from the old lock as it's cut to size? Or do you need to say you've used all new parts?
It's easier to cut the new connecting bar than it is to swap connecting bars between cylinders
I guess you can but you have to remove the c-clip. Like the other comment it’s easier to cut the tail.
I replaced the cylinder but now there seems to be "Slack" when the night latch is turned. What could I have done wrong there?
Thank you sir 🙏
You’re welcome 🙏🏽
