Ends the first half of what I consider the best Genesis's album. One of the best prog albums of all time
Absolutely right 👍
One of the great examples of how good Peter's and Phil's voices meshed together.
Like butter! 🤟🌟💥
This mix or my ears are better than my crappy c90 tapes back in the day, because their individual voices work so well & so clearly complementary here. What a whole band collaboration!
I listened to a long interview with Phil Collins & I understand that they knew Peter was to leave shortly after The Lamb. That might have added tension, anger, sorrow? I remember it happening & it was a shock. Little did we know that it would catapult Phil Collins second career, and thereby a third :)
Why Peter went when he did I’m not sure I understand at all. Personal, I guess. Many bands then had many superb artists, not just one star.
I think Peter had accomplished wgat he felt he wanted to accomplish. Nothing lasts forever. He bowed out when his energy told him so. The only band I can think of that did this so gracefully was R.E.M. They felt that they had accomplished and achieved their vision, and didn't want to become a greatest hits/Vegas/legacy act
Supper's Ready is another good example
"Lamb lies down on broadway" one of the best album GENESIS
There are albums that you never get tired of, this is one of them!
If I could only have 1 album for the rest of my life , this is it. From start to finish , absolute brilliance.
Yes, for sure. Fortunately I memorized it as a teen! Lol
Possibly the greatest genesis song.
I would agree. It's also my favorite guitar tone ever. I have finally gotten my gear to achieve that sound that I have sought after for over 10 years! Love this song!!!
Bro Supper's Ready for me is the best genesis song
For me, right now, it absolutely is.

If you scroll down far enough you'll find this sort of comment on every song
You have no idea how many times I used to replay this song over and over on long night walks thinking about where I was in life.
Thank you very möchte!!

No reply at all ? I a...nevermind
many decades later I'm still doing that.
@@truemansparks Me too. I am still looking for the door. 😔
Genesis was truly great from 1969-1974
The emotional depth of Peter's voice is bottomless. It is emotion itself.
Otis singing Prog .
Haunting, spellbinding, breathtaking, soul-stirring
The first 11 songs of Lamb is a musical masterpiece
The ending still gives me goose bumps. 35 years now.
It literally pushes me to tears every single time. I can't avoid it.
@Adele K I can only imagine what circumstances in your life allow you to relate to this song like I do. If it's anything like mine I'm sorry for your pain. At least we have these amazing moments in music to make life more bearable. Love to you.
Goosebumps? I haven’t heard this song in (I’m guessing) 10 years or more and right now I’m sitting in a puddle.
I will never again go more than a month without listening to this entire album in my life.
The way those vibes ring...
This is where it began for me, listening to Radio Caroline late one night, blew me away, such a passionate vocal from Peter, sublime keys from Tony, Steve's guitar shines& the rhythm section.....
This song is inedit for me! Absolutely beautiful! I love Genesis!
This is real to me too!
The line "I need is someone to believe in, someone to trust" rings true so much
Peter , Tony , Mike , Steve and Phil , SUCH SUBLIME MUSICIANS!!!! ❤️🆙💜💜🎸🎸🎸🎸✅✅❤️
I'd give you all of my dreams
if you'd help me
find a door
that doesn't lead me back again....
take me away...
Sounds like my life story.
"...I need someone to believe in, someone to trust..."
The most beautiful song ever...I have PTSD, and when I was lost in fear when I got back from Vietnam, I played this particular song...wept...then moved forward. Reverend Arthur Joseph
"I need someone to believe in, someone to trust" by the great creativ Genesis, particularly by the double voices of Peter Gabriel (1) and Phil Collins (2). So important? Great song!
One of the nicest and most intense song of the album. Great job by Peter and Steve.
Phil and PG, one of the two best vocal combos OAT, tied with Jon Anderson and Chris Squire of Yes. Phil is so tight with Peter, it took me several years to figure out that they weren't overdubbing PG's voice. It was Phil!!!
Tony Banks's main criticism of LLDOB was that the lyrics for most of the songs were too wrapped up in the narrative of the albums concept to stand up in their own right. This one works better than most as a stand alone piece, yet was never played live again after the Lamb tour finished. It's such a shame this song was completely overlooked for future live performances..
Well as much as I love Tony the arpeggio king, it turns out he was wrong!
The Phil-led Genesis proved this all through the eighties by performing In the Cage live.
Cage, Chamber, Carpet Crawlers, Counting out Time, Grand Parade to name a few, stand on their own quite well despite the brother John references.
I guess his comment could be applied better to album 2, but who knows?
But also… personally, I don’t particularly care if they work independently of the album or not… 99 out of 100 I’m listening to the entire album anyway!
I think it was a pinnacle of the album. The lyrics and melodies were unique yet they felt familiar somehow.
Such an evocative guitar intro with the accompaniment of Tony's Mellotron
This song is like the precursor to Solsbury Hill.
this is really the song who speak about my life!
One of my favorite songs by Genesis of all times! ❤🎸🔊🎧
Meravigliosa. Sublime. Grandi Genesis ❤
Music, lyrics what a perfect combination. Amazing to this day!
This album is unique in every way
Many people talk about this album as being Genesis’ best, but so few people talk about this track.
For me, it’s a highlight of this remarkable album. The feeling of desperation and loneliness perfectly finishes the first B-side, and the first half of Rael’s journey.
The music, the lyrics, the imagery, and the mournful final tone, combine to make a very emotional song. The visuals it conjures of a room full of people looking for any means they can to find a way out is powerful, but as a depiction of people finding their way out of a hopeless situation in their life, it is even more so.
The desperation in the lyric “I’d give you all of my dream if you’d help me” almost never fails to choke me up.
Top 3 of my favorite Genesis tunes, heck...anytune. Deep, and awesome.
Unbelievable, they were about 20 years old and they were writing such a music.
Incredibly beautiful music. And not only that. Those lyrics are equally amazing and timeless. And so very valid in today's twisted times
probably the best lyrics, among incredible lirics!!!
Still the best album of all time. Incredible. I still listen to it all the time and play along on the piano and synth. Saw the original in 74, and have seen TMB at least eight times since. Perfect masterpiece start to finish.
The best band in the world GÉNESIS 🤗💟😘😘😘
My mom died last July and I just listen to this and think. It fits my mind right now.
pure brilliance as all the Gabriel albums were.....prob the best prog band ever
🎶 The Chamber Of 32 Doors 🎶 Thanks Genesis For This
Excellent, Awesome & Fantastic Masterpiece, You're The Best!!!!!
GENESIS FOREVER!!!!! 🎤🎹🎸🥁🎸🎼 🎤🎹🎸🥁🎸🎼 🐑
So so beautiful 💕
In recent years Gabriel has alluded to a few
times how he liked the combination of their
voices together.
THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BRODWAY. 👍👍👍👍👍
GRAZIE PETER...GRAZIE GENESIS 👍👍👍👍👍
Back inside
This chamber of so many doors

They believe they can control the game, but the juggler holds another pack
The rich man stands in front of me,
The poor man behind my back.
They believe they can control the game,
But the juggler holds another pack.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4:46 Gabriel's cadence and phrasing at the end of this song is remarkable. + 2:37
Shockingly beautiful song , !!
This song is just perfect. Everything. From Gabriel's voice to the other members' instrumentation, it is a perfect song in my ears.
End of an era. Garbiel's last work with the band. What could have been?
For me the best of Genesis and the most meining of the album.
Great 🌞🌞🌞🌺
The closest album to make a Broadway musical and just a story about life in the inner city and the struggles of daily life. The best fifteen dollars I ever spent.
Anyone listening fifty years later?
Yeah...this is pretty good.
The LYRICS of Genesis are IMO heads above the rest. Simply AMAZING.
Here are the lyrics of the SONG for those who wish to sing ALONG (ie. The rhyme is planned)
At the top of the stairs, there's hundreds of people,
Running around to all the doors.
They try to find
Find themselves an audience
Their deductions need applause.
The rich man stands in front of me,
The poor man behind my back.
They believe they can control the game,
But the juggler holds another pack.
I need someone to believe in..someone to trust.
I need someone to believe in..someone to trust.
I'd rather trust a country man than a town man,
You can judge by his eyes, take a look if you can,
He'll smile through his guard,
Survival trains hard.
I'd rather trust a man who works with his hands,
He looks at you once, you know he understands,
Don't need any shield,
When you're out in the field.
Down here,
I'm so alone with my fear,
With everything that I hear.
And every single door, that I've walked through
Brings me back here again,
I've got to find my own way.
The priest and the magician,
Singing all the chants that they have ever heard.
They're all calling out my name,
Even academics, searching printed word.
My father to the left of me,
My mother to the right,
Like everyone else they're pointing
But nowhere feels quite right.
And I need someone to believe in, someone to trust.
I need someone to believe in, someone to trust.
I'd rather trust a man who doesn't shout what he's found,
There's no need to sell if you're homeward bound.
If I chose a side,
He won't take me for a ride.
Back inside..
This chamber of so many doors;
I've nowhere, nowhere to hide.
I'd give you all of my dreams, if you'd help me..
Find a door
That doesn't lead me back again
Take me away.
I’d say Peter Gabriel and Roger Waters are the best songwriters of all time

Bellissima canzone e' teatrale ❤

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👌👍😍
I’d give you all of my dreams if you’ll help me find a door that will take me back to age of 24 !!!!!!!! 😃😃😃💜❤️💜❤️🆙🆙🆙🆙✌🏾✌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
What would you differently. I'm close to that age?

🥰
the lamb is amazing magnificent album prog. rock .perfectt
I’ve always felt like this song needed 2 or 3 more verses.
The meaning is Qabbalah. As seen by the priest in mystic way or by the magician in profane way. Even academics, they studies ghematria, printed words. My father Chockmah to the left my mother Binah to the right. 32 doors 10 sephirot 22 paths. The album tracks are 23. This song is eleven means to count 10 and then 22.
The full album represents the way out from Kether (It)

Ho letto una intervista di chester Thompson dove lui afferma riferendosi ai componenti dei Genesis "i ragazzi non leggono la musica ": c'è qualcuno che mi può spiegare meglio questa affermazione che mi sorprende?
I'm saying it this album on up there with quadrophenia and hemispheres Maybe better.
Just can't get into this!
Genesis has always been a big part of my musical development. I wanted to celibrate their music by making this tribute album.
Thank you Genesis!

"TLLDOB" is the best Genesis album for many fans, not for me.
I agree. Much prefer Selling England
@@pineapple8055 I prefer much SEBTP, Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme. Three classic albums!
@@igormaxwel6093 It is for more.
@@mr.brenman2132 Yes, friend... You're right! Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot and SEBTP are the 3 best Genesis albums for me, but TLLDOB have some little problems in comparation with your 3 past albums before. Just this!
@@igormaxwel6093untrue. The Lamb has much deeper emotional lyrics than their other albums. Easy win. Lamb lies down is the best Genesis album ever.
When is "The Chamber of 33 Doors" releasing?
@Susan Reed I found "The Chamber of 30 Doors" at Tony Banks basement.
There is the 36 Chambers

@@WintersWar not surprised
The Lamb was the last great Genesis album!! The next two were pretty good, but didn't have the Extraordinary Gabriel lyric contributions and his magnificent flute and his vocals! 1970-75 were the best Genesis years!!
I've been saying that for years! 😉
I put A Trick of the Tail and The Lamb, pretty much on equal footing. And I really don't think Pete's vocals would have worked as well on songs like "Mad Man Moon" or "Ripples". Both great albums.
@@edlawn5481 l remember eagerly waiting for the release of Trick of the Tail album. I loved it, the only track l have never really liked is Ripples which to me is a bit tedious. However, The Lamb album to me is in a different league altogether, it's the best thing they did, only Suppers Ready off Foxtrot is as good!
@@edlawn5481 Mad Man Moon is beautiful, brilliant soft prog rock song! I have a top 10 Greatest Genesis songs and it's in it.
I should also say that Gabriel's first solo album was phenomenal as well.
So many “ greatest” songs... how to pick ... Supper’s Ready” ... just one ..
Peter really left Genesis on a high note. I don't think many bands put out arguably* their best album right before a key member leaves.
*Arguably. They have so many essential albums.
1:46 no
Fabulous as always.
But this band was never the same after Peter left.
I love this album but feel the 3rd and 4th sides tail off. Do others feel that way? Other double albums like Tommy Quadrphenia The Wall seemed a more complete whole. Pete Gabriel was leaving. Maybe the energy ran out towards the end.
