- This is the second session in my Mule Training series. In this episode, we'll talk about developing a better stop and teaching the neck rein.
Developing a Stop:
1. Soften the nose
2. Take your legs off and shift your seat to cue for a stop
3. If he doesn't stop, immediately back up
4. Enforce with your reins and legs, releasing when he backs softly
5. Turn over the hindquarters and walk off
Introducing the Neck Rein:
1. Take the reins in one hand
2. Move in a figure-8 pattern. Place the rein on his neck to cue the turn, using your pinky to slightly direct rein the turn
3. Use your legs and an enforcer to get the turn - make sure he follows his nose
4. When he gets good at a walk, move up to a trot
I hope you enjoyed this series, and I hope it helps improve your relationship with your mule. Until next time, may God bless the trails you ride!

Great video. This is why most people buy a atv. This is a lot to know and learn. I grew up with horses, and now at 50, I have a dual sport dirtbike. 2500 dollars to buy, then gas and go no tack no training feed hay vet bill etc just gas and go. 👍
thanks for your training on the mule and life lessons GOD is good to give us JESUS CHRIST thanks Brother

Um
Why is it that people always say to train mules differentially compared to horses? Is it cause they are thick headed.
What u mean when u say soften the nose ?
Hold the reins firm until the mule stops pushing against the bit and gives to the pressure, then immediately let him have the release he created by getting "soft" and no longer pushing into it.
You are oversized for that poor mule. 😢
you never rode a mule
What makes him oversized for it? I'm just gonna help you understand something
@@clayrowe7560no he isn’t. Mules are very strong. That mule has lots of thick bone and is built thick. He could ride him all day long without issue.
